Edit: oops! Just realised JapaneseGIRL had already told us about the demo...! My bad
As JapaneseGIRL pointed out in another thread, the Japanese demo for Ghost Trick is now available on Ghost Trick official website. In order to play the flash demo (available in Japanese only), just click on the Nintendo DS, just below! Remember, the game will be released in Japan in exactly... one month! For the US/Europe, we'll have to wait until next Winter, probably in early 2011.
A big thanks to JapaneseGIRL for telling us about the demo! And remember, for more pictures and videos, simply go here and there :)

We've had this thread already...kind of. It was already posted in this thread, it wasn't in the first post though, so maybe some people missed it. I'll leave it up to Wooster to decide what to do with this.
Well, you're perfectly right. I just realised it 2 minutes after posting this thread... but I had totally overlooked JapaneseGIRL's post, which explains why I had never heard about the demo before. That will teach me for not checking other threads (as I always do) more thoroughly :p
Sorry for the delay guys. I haven't been around much lately. The Farm is taking a lot of priority time it seems,
Anyways, front page topics don't follow the same rules as forum conversation topics. There is new information not covered in the original post and it is justified in gaining extra exposure.
The demo was great, and I finally know how this game works! It looks like it had a great and interesting story, but then again, I didn't exactly...understand it. Japanese ain't exactly my primary language.
I was searching for Ghost trick boxarts, and I somehow landed on amazon it said the english release date was SEPTEMBER 28, 2010! what do you think?

We think that Capcom itself said that the game will be released 'this Winter', in Europe and in the US. It was during their Captivate 2010 event, look at this trailer. And since September, the 28th is definitely not in Winter, I'm afraid we'll have to wait a bit more...
I played the demo, and I didn't attempt to read the japanese, but I enjoyed it regardless! I preordered it, I'm very excited for it. It's certainly a lot more fast paced than the Ace Attorney series since you're timed, but it looks like a game I'll enjoy. Because i didn't bother to read the japanese text, I didn't really understand

If this is in the tradition of Capcom trailers, the very first level of Ghost Trick, when it's released, is likely to be MUCH harder and more detailed than it is in the demo.
That's how it was for AJ and AAI, after all. In the demo for Apollo Justice, the cross-examination is relatively simple and the color on the cards' backs is never brought up for example, but the REAL Apollo Justice game suddenly threw in a bunch of extra details that weren't in the demo, such as Kristoph's cryptic yet poetic line about the cards painting a sad scene in blue, or the nature of the poker chips, etc., and Phoenix became more evasive and suspicious than he was in the demo (the demo almost made it look like he was just testing Apollo), making the real game much harder.
In Ace Attorney Investigations, the demo version was also rather simple, but when the real game was released, they suddenly threw in a bunch of extra details, like the mysterious gunman threatening Edgeworth in the dark, the second bullet shooting down the suit, the bit about the master key, Jacques Portsman being a bit harder to crack, etc., and the case was much harder to solve than it was in the demo because, like in Apollo Justice, exactly the same level was much more complicated in the real game than it was in the demo, even in what was supposedly exactly the same "story segment!"
I imagine Ghost Trick will be the same way. I imagine that when the REAL Ghost Trick game is released, the construction site level that the demo covers will have some extra steps and tasks to complete that weren't in the demo, making it much harder. I don't know how; maybe it won't be so easy to distract the assassin, or maybe you'll have to play tricks on Lynne too and not just the assassin to get Lynne to safety, or maybe there will be more objects in your way and longer chains to complete before you get to spring the final trap, or maybe objects that were easy to reach in the demo will suddenly be placed farther away, or something of the sort.
I just wanted to give everyone fair warning, if Capcom continues the tradition it did with previous games.
By the way, here's my strategy guide for how to complete the demo, since this is my first strategy guide on Court Records please tell me if I'm doing it right:
Spoiler:
Sissel will wake up having just been killed by an assassin. The assassin is now threatening a woman named Lynne.
You start out already in Ghost Mode. Drag your cursor from your corpse to the crossing gate to possess it.
After the dialogue, click the button in the lower-right corner. This is the "Trick" button, you can only use it when possessing an object but having left Ghost Mode. Sissel will play a trick on the assassin by causing the crossing gate to rise, knocking the gun out of the assassin's hand, giving Lynne some time to run. But the assassin recovers, picking up his gun and pointing it at Lynne.
The only object within your reach is the guitar. Drag your cursor from the crossing gate to the guitar to possess it. Then play a Trick. The guitar will suddenly make a musical sound, startling the assassin. He'll fire on the guitar instead of Lynne, but this knocks it down and rolls it far away from the scene.
Well the trick gave Lynne some time, but now the only object within your reach is your own corpse because the assassin knocked your guitar-possessed self too far away from the scene for anything else to be useful. Possess the corpse and play the trick...but it won't work. Sissel cannot come back to life. The assassin will this time SUCCESSFULLY kill Lynne. You cannot prevent this the first time. Lynne's body will fall out of sight, and the assassin will kick Sissel's corpse down below and then answer a phone call.
After all the dialogue, the lamp will now give you a lesson on proper ghost possession. First click the thought balloon with the XXX in it for the lamp to explain more.
This time you won't automatically go into Ghost Mode; you have to do it by clicking the "Ghost" button in the bottom left corner.
Now you'll have to do a chain. Starting from your corpse, possess the car door, then the stop sign, then the retractable ladder. You can do all of this in one swift motion if you want, as long as you do it in the proper order.
Click the bottom left button again to exit Ghost Mode, this will cause the "Trick" button to appear again in the bottom right corner. Play a trick to extend the ladder to the right.
Go back into Ghost Mode and possess the lamp itself. After another lesson, the lamp will throw you a bone by extending down to Lynne's corpse all by itself without your input.
Now go back into Ghost Mode and possess Lynne's corpse. After a lengthy explanation, click on the button in the middle of the screen to go back four minutes in time. This time Sissel knows what he's doing thanks to the lamp's teachings and has a better chance of preventing Lynne's fate.
First, the scene will play out as it did before, but this time the crossing gate and the guitar will appear as if they moved by themselves, the way the assassin would perceive it happening. But Sissel realizes that's where he went wrong. He made the guitar sound. We're not going to do that this time because that caused the assassin to fire on the guitar, ultimately knocking you away from all possess-able objects and preventing you from doing anything else useful. So Sissel rewinds to before he played that particular trick.
And now you have a time limit. A real-time hourglass will be counting down four minutes using sand. So do all of this as quick as you can.
Okay, this time, don't play a trick using the guitar. Now that you know the controls, after clicking on an XXX thought balloon, from the guitar, possess the front end of the bike that's standing upright and play a trick. This will cause the bike's bell to ring, causing the assassin to fire on the bike, causing it to fall into its normal (and much more useful) position. This also gives Lynne more time to escape this time...but she reaches a dead-end because there's a pit in front of her. So unfortunately we're not done.
Now that the bike's in a normal position, possess it's rear wheel and play a trick to move the bike forward, placing essential objects now within your reach.
After that, do a "chain" by moving from the rear wheel of the bike to the front wheel to the switch to your left. This will swing the crane around. You need to do this, but this won't hurt the assassin by itself.
Now, you need to do another chain to possess the extending ladder and play a trick to extend the ladder to the upper-right. This will open up your last chain: possess all the objects within reach until you possess the claw holding up the wrecking ball (which won't be here if you didn't remember to pull the switch first). Possessing the wrecking ball itself won't work; you have to then move from the ball to the claw holding it up. Play another trick to cause the claw to let go of the ball directly onto the assassin. The assassin will be rolled into the pit, and you will have successfully saved Lynne's life and altered her fate!
I can testify that it is indeed harder in the real game than it is in the demo, but only by a small bit (you have to get up from bottom up), rest is the same as in the demo, though.
