Chalk this up to obligatory non-commitiality. But thanks to GoNintendo, I was pointed to this article by Videogamer.com. In it they interview Shu Takumi at E3 about Ace Attorney and the 3DS.

Shu Takumi wrote:
"It's a little bit difficult to say, We just saw it here; we're not sure what we can do with [the technology] yet. But certainly if the opportunity presented itself and we could make it, then it might be a really good chance for us to use that technology. But we'll have to wait and see what the future brings."

Yeah, we're not going to get any concrete info on GS5 until Capcom's ready to make an announcement. Personally, and I do mean my own personal thoughts, that's not happening until Ghost Trick is done being promoted.

But, it's still nice to hear that they're at least considering the new hardware for the future of the series. But, honestly, how would that work? The sprites are all 2D. There's not a lot outside of evidence that could use depth of field. But I'm sure that we'll be pleasantly surprised regardless.

Hm... Seems like an interesting idea. A 3D Ace Attorney game sounds like it could be a good or bad thing. But, that depends on how you look at it. Personally, I would be fine with it as long as the graphics are kept like 2D sprites. It's good to hear some news about the series though!

So what, now I have to buy a new DS so I can play the next AA game? When I'm just after buying the DSi? Yeah, right.

Would be interesting to see. Don't know if the 3D would work with sprites, though.

Well, it's Nintendo. Capcom will probably keep it sprites and Nintendo will find a way to make it 3D. Why? Because they have Reggie. He's magic and craps rainbows.

Nope. It's something I photoshopped together in about 20 or so minutes guessing, using some official art, and a pair of 3D glasses I found on Bing. Oh, and I hastily added a 5 in place of the 4.

Although I think it'd be really nice on 3D, I understand it's hard to make a 3D game with 2D sprites and without being layered. Maybe they could make it with 3D models, but in a way it looks like 2D, just so the 3D effects can be noticed. Or just keep the old style...

I can't wait to see it on a Wide Screen ^^

Hm, as long they keep the same style of graphics by keeping sprites, I'm fine.

Perhaps we can see 3D psyche-locks, perceives or Objection bubbles?

Someday, I'll grab Shu Takumi by the collar, toss him to a side, point a gun at him, and yell "IS THERE GOING TO BE A FUCKING GYAKUTEN SAIBAN 5 OR NOT!?". Seriously: the game is oficially non-existant. Sure, it was "announced" that there would be a GS5, but that was even before they came up with Kenji, so the ideas they had for GS5 most probably translated to GK.

I don't like being a pessimist, but the facts are the facts. And the facts seem to show that a (VERY) very long time will pass until we see the slightest tidbit of Gyakuten Saiban 5.

tl;dr All GS5 news are absolutely nothing unless they read "Gyakuten Saiban 5 announced"... and it's not in April 1st.

Yeah, that was just cheesy XD

Well, I've noticed that there's going to be Professor Layton in 3D and it kept the 2D graphics somewhat, so I think it might work with AA.

... Though it might or might not be GS5.

Ace Attorney game on the 3DS... it's possible. Something to consider for AAI, maybe? If they plan on pursuing that again, that is.

(I'm just giving my two cents, and I'm not reading through the previous posts, so I hope this hasn't been said...) IIRC, one of the early demo videos basically had it sort of like a Paper Mario style, where everything was 2D, and it just looked a bit flattened or whatever when you tilted it. I wouldn't mind if they did that. (Although I could see 3D models used for the Perceive system...)

They don't have to use the 3D. If they can have Professor Layton on the 3DS, they can have Apollo on the 3DS.

According to a translated interview(<--http://www.nizhuan.net/thread-2504-1-1.html), people don't need to put on glasses to play games on 3DS...sounds cool.

They even have a carema on the new 3DS machine, ready to shot 3D game photos at any time. Very interesting...

Ghost Trick being done as it is, I think it wouldn't be a stretch to say if the team is going to announce something, TGS is the place to do it.

I just bought a DSi. =/
And I really against the ida of 3DS, so an Ace Attorney just for the 3DS is another idea I am against.
Surely it's bad for the business, because not many people will buy the 3DS if they had just bought the DSi or XL.
They could at least make a DSi version for those without 3DS's.

If they plan to make use of the 3DS's capabilities though we'd have no choice but to get it. So I guess that's one thing the GS team should think about; will the integration be worth getting a whole new portable system for?

Hehe, yeah I know the 3DS doesn't require 3D glasses to view. But putting a 2D character in a 2D image of a device, even intentionally violating the laws of canvas, didn't scream 3D to me.

Now silly 60-70's 3D glasses, 'that' screams 3D.

Actually, I just thought of something. The 3DS's depth of field might be really awesome to see in action in the perceive system. I mean, you're already staring intently at the witness. Seeing some depth behind the desk and the character, maybe something that moves forward a bit... that might work quite well.

Would make examining evidence a lot more interesting too, I think. Or inspecting the layout of the crime scene? Little Thief? Just throwing ideas out there. xD

Yeah, 3D would be great during the investigation sequences.

Also Apollo looks pretty badass with those glasses.

Well currently I don't own a 3DS, and I'm not sure if I really want to because they just keep coming out with new stuff so by the time I choose whether or not I want a 3DS they'll probably have a 4DS mini or something :/ Plus I'm still happy with the original fat pack DS, and I'm already thinkin about getting a PsP for that new Kingdom Hearts game comin out soon xD

I think a way they could use the technology without straying from it's original roots would to make the characters in 2D, but somehow make their surroundings 3D. Perceiving should somehow implement the 3D gimmicks in it. But, if they have a small Phoenix part, or if Apollo gets the Magtama, I would love some 3D Psyche Locks. :hobohodo:

Anyway, the investigations should be awesome with 3D involved. But I think that if they included the 3D in an AAI style game, it wouldn't be good. The 3D would just mess it up in my opinion. The new style is completely a 2D experience. The 3D would just make it difficult.

But that's just my opinion. :3

3DS is not even out yet, durp. And it's not an update like DSi, it's a new handheld system. Like DS 2.

Really? That's too bad. I've looked at games by Cing for quite a while now. I've been on the fence though. But, if it's as good as Ace Attorney, then I MUST HAVE IT.

10 bucks for a used copy at Gamestop? Alright I'll head over there soon.

(Also, nice MGS sig. My favorite is Snake Eater. Big Boss FTW!)

Yes. According to me, at least. Shame we probably won't get the sequel.

@ CP: I honestly found it longer than AA. I finished HD in a week, while the first PW:AA took 2-3 days.

Hm... I'll have to see. I hope its as good as AA and MGS. Apparently it's better according to you but, I'll just have to play it myself. Anyway, back on topic.

Blah Blah Blah Nintendo 3DS Blah Blah Blah Ace Attorney Blah Blah 3D.
