I hadn't thrown in my immediate thought of "YES YES YES THAT'S ADORABLE IT MUST HAPPEN" before -- only because I, too, wasn't sure how it would become relevant enough to work in...
But, I was thinking... now that the setting of at least the first case (and, in my opinion, probably all the others) has been confirmed to be before Phoenix's disbarment, the possibility still remains that Phoenix might play some role in this game, whether through indirect reference or direct appearance.
So, it would be hilarious if perhaps the initial "tutorial" for this new system involves a theoretical situation with that spikey/sword setup, or if (not likely but still an awesome thought) Phoenix appeared and got the chance to play this mind-chess with Edgey for some reason.
The only problem is that the Logic Chess pieces are ordinary black and white...
No extra-symbolic blue and red.Still. Somehow. The spiky pawn being dominated by the edgey knights. It must happen. Somehow. I'll freak out with happiness if it does. Yes.

Too bad they didn't mention anything about the release date (I mean, I do hope it's early Spring, not May like for GK1). And I have to admit, I don't even recognise 1/10 of all the games in this trailer (mind you, most of them will probably never get released outside Japan :p)

I doubt that theory, based on the fact that AAI seems to be just as controversial as AJ was, at least from all I've gathered yet (and what I've gathered is, actually, quite much.)
The only games which are universally loved were the original AA and T&T. Everything else gets it's share of harsh bashing.
The reason they're making AAI2 is simply that they've got Eshiro on the boat and not Takumi, I say.

I've ready too many comments on Youtube saying that AA:I was complete garbage compared to the original GS saga (Including AJ), but you are right. Capcom has dug a gigantic hole, and they're now trying to figure a way out of it. The one thing I don't agree on is the ''Phoenix Wright saga characters are far better and have better backstory than magicians'', because PW had three games to develop all these characters, AJ has had one.

I agree with both of you, but seriously, it's like they left so much stuff unanswered in the game that it would be stupid not to answer ANY of them, I mean, we don't know ; Daryan's motive, Kristoph's motive, the black psyche locks, what would happen when Phoenix drops the bomb of they're family on Apollo and Trucy; LOTS of things need explaining.

Agree completely with that. Another poster was right that AJ has only had 1 game. He deserves his own Trilogy like Phoenix had so those characters can be developed.
I wish we'd found out more about those black psyche-locks - they were so COOL.
Did Nick break them? Did Kristoph know about the magatama? As another poster said, maybe Kristoph was so evil he couldnt be exposed with the magatama.

I kind of doubt it, seeing as how this game is said to center completely around Edgeworth's personal conflicts or whatever -- and AAI proved that Edgeworth doesn't even know who Payne is... ...*cough* Unless that theory proposed a while back that "Mikagami = Payne's mysterious beautiful wife" comes true...
I'm personally okay with not knowing much more about Payne than that he's a prosecutor (and, more specifically, a sucky prosecutor).
He's a fun warm-up boss. But, man, it really WOULD be epic if he turned out to have some big secret that solved a case sometime...

Yeah, that seems to be a running gag in AA, not having a clue who that Payne person is. Having her be be Payne's wife would be epic...
But really, Payne has to get more backstory, he appeared in every game and we still don't know anything about him...
