It's crap like I said before.
Now we are getting fan-games featuring Phoenix and that Lego....thing.

Oh god, please, Edgeworth! Get a greater game like this!

Ace Attorney=Ace Attorney and not Ace Attorney & Layton (Hey, that's his real name!)

It was great to be able to watch this unfold, from that little leak to that vague hint to this incredible announcement.

Th...th...The epicness is undeniable. That animated trailer and those screenshots are so totally amazing that I don't know what to say.

But...but...I've never played a Layton game before!! :larry: If I'm going to enjoy this crossover, I'm going to have to get up to date on all the Layton games... How many is that? *looks it up* Five...3 currently in America?
Grnngh... I don't know if I have that kind of time or MONEY (especially for the freaking 3DS, which I never even intended to buy!!) But... This looks so worth it... :keiko:

*reads more stuff*

Ah, it's great to hear that Mr. Takumi is still taking part in creative work for the AA series. ^^

...Wait -- Phoenix is being accused of witchcraft? Why!? xD (As in, do they not see magical Maya right next to him?) I must know more~~~
EDIT: Wait, it's the CLIENT of Phoenix being accused. I get it now. Darn Wikipedia.

YES.

As a huge fan of cross-overs, Ace Attorney and Layton, this really gets me hyped up and makes me forget about the crap I have to deal with in the army.

Although now it won't be as funy if I have Layton do a cameo in one of my future vids :s

Amazing month, indeed

I wouldn't expect so. I would expect the contradictions to be less complicated then the norm in Ace Attorney, and the Puzzles to be easier then endgame in Layton. Remember, they need to cater to the fans of either franchise that have no interest in the other.

For instance, as much as I love Professor Layton to tears, it pains me in how many puzzles I need to solve before I'm rewarded with some plot.

At the same time, expect the Court-Record to have a lot less evidence in it on average.

Believe me, this game is going to be Ace Attorney's end. And I'm not trying to be pessimistic because, maybe, it could give Takumi his inspiration and love for Ace Attorney back to make another REAL Ace Attorney.
BUT with Apollo, that poor guy just needs another game.

Sorry to break it to you, but this game will not slow down AJ2 simly because Takumi doesn't work on it, and neither did he work on AJ1, more than being a producer.

Just an aside: Although you should definitely try the Layton games because they're super fun, I don't think you'll need to know the storyline from the first 3 games. The promo images here have the younger Luke from the prequel games.

Awesome news. As a die hard fan of both series, this definitely falls into the "fanboy pipe dream come true" category.

More importantly, though, this means the AA characters will be ANIMATED and ENGLISH-VOICED for the first time...

HEY, CAPCOM/LEVEL-5! YURI LOWENTHAL AS NICK. DO IT. (And Crispin Freeman as Edgey if he shows up...)

Well, that sounds good. The endgame puzzles in Layton were never really something I enjoyed that much. Not that they were super awesomely hard (not saying that they were easy either) but I wanted to get to the end and not solve another goddamn puzzle :|

Less evidence to present? I can live with that. However, that may make it easier just to guess instead of thinking which evidence to present.

...hopefully the game won't end up being too easy :/

I'd actually prefer it if Edgeworth could stay away from this. He has his own upcoming game after all.

Also, I know my post was rude and I didn't mean to derail the thread. BUT. Complaining about a cartoony character in the PW-verse (which I'm assuming he meant when he said "Professor Lego") is pretty stupid because 1, AA is cartoony already and there are some characters that look out of place (I'm looking at you Ben Woodman) and 2, it's just a crossover - basically a fanfic. Except that it may be canon. Either way, it's still just a fun thing - a spin off. Also, "fictional world"? Could you elaborate?

I'm guessing it's something to do with Layton and Phoenix and their assistants being thrown into some random magical world and then being accused of witchcraft.

Which is pretty much what this game is about.

Also, I was spasming with caps on Twitter like a mad person, but now that I'm thinking about it more carefully, it's actually not much of a crossover if you take like 2 characters from each series and dump them into some magical world with random characters that have zero relation to any of the characters from both games, and a storyline that sounds like they just pulled it out of their ass.

I'm rather excited, but skeptical as well. Feels like this was just made for the sake of pleasing fans of both series... like a move that wasn't so well thought through?

I really do sincerely hope I'm proven wrong, though. That the storyline is actually not generic and actually good, and there will be other more recurring characters appearing that everyone knows and loves from both of the series, like Flora Reinhold, Dick Gumshoe, Inspector Chelmey, and Pearl Fey, just to name a few.

The artwork and animation quality already seems to be top-notch, I just hope that the storyline is as good as that too. It doesn't seem so spectacular from the summary posted a while back.

(But dayum, Layton sure is short, though. lol)

EDIT: Reading this again, it certainly sounds like I'm bashing the thing when there's barely even any info about it. orz well I guess we should wait and see...

Thanks a ton. Now, I'm gonna try and translate it from PR speak to English.

-----

Quote:
The one in charge of the scenario and plot for this project is Takumi Shuu of Capcom.

Translation: Okay fans. Takumi is back, and he's working on an Ace Attorney Project. Can you put those doom and gloom fears to rest plz?

Quote:
The subtitle released for this game is "This time, the puzzles are filled with contradictions!"

Rest at ease, their fandom is not bigger then your fandom.

Quote:
Archaeologist Hershel Layton and Defense Attorney Phoenix Wright are lost in a 'different world'... In a mixture of reality and fantasy, the medieval city "Labyrinth City".

We know the fans are going to tear us apart trying to establish what era/place either game is in and why no one decided to call the other. So we're just going to say "Screw that" and do a whole alternate dimension thing. Also, expect everyone to forget anything that happened at the end, or be sworn into secrecy or some other puny excuse.

Quote:
A mysterious town... where the "witch" concealed in darkness and "magic" exists in reality. "Magic" and "story"... An encounter in a town coloured by fantasy, with unbelievable cases. The one who rules this town is the ultimate criminal "Storyteller". The "stories" that he spins out with his pen become reality, and determine the future...

We needed something credible to explain the whole alternate dimension thing that brought the two franchises together.

Quote:
Puzzles never seen before stand in the way of Professor Layton. And this time, the client of Phoenix Wright is under suspicion of... "witchcraft".

Layton solves puzzles. Phoenix defends people. We know that's what you want to hear, so we're saying it.

Quote:
Not everything can be explained with common sense in the court of this world... That is, the "Witch Trials"... The gavel that announces that court now rings in Labyrinth City! This time, the puzzles are filled with contradictions!

Ending with something that makes it sound exciting. We're not going to disappoint.

Even though this game will be fucking awesome, I am annoyed that Apollo isn't getting much time in the spotlight. And GS5 will probably now be out by 2015/16. (and before somebody says it, yes, I do know Shu Takumi said GS4 was supposed to be the last in the series. But that doesn't stop someone else from making GS5, does it?)

Just came back to say that I am ridiculously excited for this. My world is on a roll!

I'm a tad worried about the possible copyright nightmare that could happen in the US, but I think that it shouldn't be too huge a problem since Capcom and Level-5 own themselves in the US.

Will this be any good? No clue. Do I care? Not really :'). 3DS? Oh hell yes.

As much as I want this game, I'll prolly not be getting the 3DS until much later, since you know, it's a new console and it's bound to be buggy and have lots of problems.

And it's expensive, so I'll rather wait for a version of the 3DS that actually works well before getting this game. Maybe a '3DS lite' or something? :D

I don't know what to think...

A PW crossover would always be awesome, but now I see the screens, I guess (hope) it won't really be cannon: how can they explain PW being in some medieval village place without ruining the storyline?

I know they don't have a real choice on this, but in my opinion, Trauma Center would be a lot better for a crossover, and the art styles would fit better...

Anyway, I should just wait for more information to judge it, but I'm still more exited about AAI2 than this for the moment; but that might be because I'm not a big Professor Layton fan (yet :redd: ). If a was a fan, I would probably be like...

"Dood WTF this is so AWESOME it doesn't make any sense but FUCK YEAAAAAAAHHHHHHH"

Yeah.
