Shu Takumi did Phoenix's Japanese objection, didn't he? Will he be voicing Phoenix as well?

WHOA! This is great! Although I have some thoughts of my own...

Opinion 1: Crap it! 3DS exclusive? Seriously! Yeah sure, they might have an English version, but what about DS owners? The ORIGINAL Wright fans? They should at least make it up to them, since they're going to miss all the awesomeness.

Opinion 2: It makes the 3DS worth all the money.

Is it true that they're not planning to release the game outside of Japan? ;_; Tell me it's not.
And if it is, someone please come up with something we can do about it!

Based from the trailer, I'd say Ms. They-say-I'm-A-Witch is innocent. I'm siding with Nick on this one. Layton should stick to his damn puzzles. Courtroom belongs to Nick! Way worth the ENTIRE 3DS.

Totally, I've seen a lot of comments that "I've played one and not the other, but now I'm gonna check that one out". And I even have a friend who said he hasn't played either game, but he might jump on the bandwagon and check these two games out just because of the crossover =D

If the trailers are any indication, I trust them to find good voice actors. The English dub, if it happens (which I certainly hope it will), I hope will be well-done as well. I liked the English voices for Professor Layton, so I trust them to do well for Phoenix and Maya too...

If Layton is at the prosecutor's bench, whose side are you meant to be on?
Though I reckon Nick and Layton will end up working together. I can't see either as the antagonist.

I think they said Nick and Layton will first face off (thus the "vs"), and then end up working together. I remember reading the creators saying something like "the fans want to see them facing off and working together, so we gave them both situations" <3

In the trailer, there was one scene were Layton was like "Mister Naruhodo [lol], it seems that there's a misunderstanding", and I'm guessing that's when they start working together.

I just find it amusing that Edgeworth has been replaced XD :edgeworth:

I also can't imagine Layton yelling "Objection"! He's too much of a gentleman XD

And also, who would preside as judge over the court scenes? Would our dear Judge get sucked into the same universe? Would he not be as silly? Would this game be more serious compared to Ace Attorney games, since Layton games don't usually have PW's humourous dialogues...

Several sites have stated that Capcom said the game will not be localized for America and Europe. THIS IS FALSE. All that Capcom said was that the game is announced only for Japan so far, which is TRUE. Then they asked for people to comment on the Capcom blog to get the game come to America. This is most likely just to advertise. The game will very likely be localized, considering how popular both series are in the west.

So... Edgeworth ditched his suit for another bookcase, added tons of candles, ditched the sofa, got rid of his Steel Samurai figurines, reversed his curtains, changed the layout of the wall, redid the floor, replaced his window panes, AND leveled the entire city in the background just so he could proclaim himself the storyteller in this little crossover?

Professor Layton is pretty much a game of quirky European-style visuals, British gentlemen, and fun, challenging puzzles. And of course like in Ace Attorney there's the wild accusations that turn out to be true. XD

Awesome, I'm looking forward to the dub! ~~And I want that music! Could you post it here?~~Damn you Wooster. And I don't think that's Takumi voicing Phoenix. His voice in the trailer sounded quite different from his Igiari-Matta-Kurae voice, and even from his TGS voice. They probably got a new VA, which is more than fine IMO, the trailer voice sounds awesome. I just hope the official English voices are as good.

At least it's still on a Nintendo system :P

I sure did pick the right time to start playing the Professor Layton series! I think the two will go excellently together. I love Ace Attorney, but I always wished that there was a bit more to those TAKE THAT!s than highlighting a square and going "there is something ODD about this spot." If it were a particularly difficult one, I'd end up just guessing. I have a lot of fun in the courtroom, but I think with this it could be even more fun. Best case scenario: it is a lot of fun and I'm spoiled forever. What excites me most is that we'll have some voice acting for our Ace Attorney characters. I'm super bummed about it being on the 3DS though. I'm sure it'll be a nice system and all, but I just don't want to go through the hassle of upgrading. The DS my grandma bought me in 2005 for graduating middle school still works fantastically :( Not to mention I don't have any monies. I can barely afford to go to the dollar store and nab a mask for Halloween. Maybe I will finally be employed by somebody soon. Then I can get started on my list and import Last Window and Trace Memory R.

The moment I saw this news, I lost it. I literally fell off my desk chair and choked on the chocolate bar I was eating. This is the best news in the world for me at the moment!!! I love Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright sooo much, so to have a colaboration is just the best!!!!!! I'm definately getting a 3DS now no matter what! Just so I can play this game. I will learn Japanese if it does not come out in english! I really, really want it! This is great! Thank you sooo much Level-5 and Capcom!!!!!! P.S. Finally understand what they meant the other week with the Witch Trials on that site! It now makes sense!

Ok, this is it. I'll save any cent I get from here to get a 3DS just to play THAT. But it'd suck so epicly if that wouldn't come out in America or Europe. With Layton on his side, the Ace Attorney games may gain new fans, eh? Also I was wondering about why Luke wears the Clothes from the fourth Layton game Spoiler: PL4 Spoilers Does that mean it takes place before 1-3, or stilll even before 4?

Be assured no one from Capcom or Level5 ever said: "This game will never be released outside Japan, wuhahahahahahahah!!!!" It's just the normal procedure that a Japanese game is first only announced for Japan.

I liked the English voices for Professor Layton, so I trust them to do well for Phoenix and Maya too... fingers crossed Layton's English voice is good, but I don't like Luke's voice :( In Pandora's Box (UK version) it seems way too high and is Dick Van Dyke cockney. I cant remember exactly what it was in Curious Village (I lost my cartridge! :( ) but I thought it was about the same.

That's very plausible. And no, I don't think it will be anyone we've seen before. AU and all that. Or perhaps it will be the storyteller? Although, I doubt it as we haven't seen his face, kind of indicating he is a 'final boss' of sorts. However, I have no doubt he influences the judge in some way. That's totally likely. In any case, I really doubt that anyone else from the PW or PL games will show up.
