Well it's slow going but GK2 updates are resuming! Right now all that's up are some screenshots from case 1, some evidence from cases 1 and 2, and the character pages that were up before we went down. Keep an eye out around the site for the new Shigaraki button; clicking on him will lead you to GK2 sections and SPOILERS!

He looks like this: Image

But the really exciting news is that thanks to the efforts of forumer Henke we have the game's raw animation data. This means every sprite is saved as still frames and has to be animated manually (as far as I'm aware at the moment) so it will be a while before functioning sprites are on the site proper. In the meantime, our dedicated forumers have animated some already, and you can find them in this thread on the backup board. IT CONTAINS SPOILERS. If you're interested in helping with the animating effort, get yourself some GIMP and jump in!

And lastly, I'm looking for a volunteer that has seen/has access to the Ace Attorney Takarazuka musicals. I would love to have a page or two devoted to it on this site, with maybe a plot/song synopsis and some pictures and such, but I still have yet to see it. If anyone can help us out in this area, I'd appreciate it!

Yay! GK2 updates! :edgy:

On the whole time the forum went down, GK2 updates and fan-translation (and localisation) has been progressing well. There are still many work to do, but there are lots of infos!

I have some questions though. Should we continue work on the Backup forum or relocate here? :udgy: If so, where would the thread be, in Mathis Corner? And what about the fan-translation?

And, uh, the Shigaraki link on 'Evidence' shows up as 404 error for me. :sadshoe:

You guys would move to Mathis Corner. Or we could make Mathis Corner a subsection of whatever you want to name the board, thus not cluttered.

And as I mentioned before, when you relocate here and get organized, I'll give project members a special rank.

Okay. Using my spider sense... I found that Croik made a bit of an oopsie with the URL...

I was going to fix the link, but then I looked at the GK2 evidence page.

There's only evidence entries for cases 1 and 2. And... the folder all the evidence is suppose to load from is nonexistent. So its' a page of image 404s. And I can't fix that.

So for now I'm just going to take the link down.

Post subject:  Re: GK2 Updating Begins

You also need to fix the ME:AAI section. Mistakes are:

1. Missing animations for characters (e.g. Alba's damage sprite isn't present).
2. Japanese names for most characters still there (Lauren Paups is shown as Himeko Orito in the sprite section).
3. Missing info on many things (Locations, evidence, graphic rips, glossary, contradictions, etc.)
4. In the Case Descriptions, certain terms are still in the Japanese versions (e.g. Regalia statue is supposed to be Primidux statue).

I think it's best if you fix this section first then start GK2 but that's up to you.

There are some little problems with the character list:

  • Yumihiko Ichiyanigi, Tateyuki Shigaraki, and Hakari Mikagami's profiles lead to 404 pages.
  • In the Japanese meaning for Ryouken Hoinbou, it is actually listed the same as Marie Miwa's.
  • Tsukasa Oyashiki's name is listed as Tateyuki Shigaraki.

Other than that, it's flawless.

For Gregory Edgeworth's profile in the AAI section, do we use his present mugshot?

lol oops. I will fix that stuff tonight >.>

Post subject:  Re: GK2 Updating Begins

Another error is found on the character pages. Case Two and Three's page names are "Characters of AAI case 1".
I guess you will both have to make "AAI", "AAI2" and fix the case numbers.

Post subject:  Re: GK2 Updating Begins

I noticed in the character section of AAI2, there are a couple of issues.

1. Hakari Mikagami, Yumihiko Ichiyanagi, and Tateyuki Shigaraki's character profiles are not available.
2. There is another mugshot of Souta Sarushiro. You might want to place it like you did with Quercus Alba's mugshot.
Spoiler:
Since the mugshot is extremely spoilerish as Alba's real form's mugshot.

3. Name puns and origin needs to be placed. Check AA wiki for that.
4. Ryouken Houinbou's name pun is still the same as Marie Miwa's. This needs changing.
5. The name of the pink chef is Delish Scone.
5. When you click on Delish Scone's mugshot, it instead leads to Gregory Edgeworth's profile.
6. Other AAI2 characters don't have pages yet although this is perfectly understandable.
7. The Japanese name for "John Doe", Taro Tanaka, is not there in his profile.
8. Many other returning characters are missing although you can do that later.
9. Delish Scone's gender is female, not male. (Jean Armstrong, anyone?)
10. Teikun Ou's age is 58.
11. Shuuji Orinaka is 31 years old.
12. Marie Miwa is 37 years old.
13. Tyrell Badd's profile needs updating. (Add his past self's mugshot in his profile).
14. Update Larry Butz's profile. Same reason for above.
15. Isaku Hyoudou has
Spoiler:
another name. It is Paul Holic.

16. Delish Scone is a witness in GK2 case 3, not the victim.
17. 鳳院坊 了賢 is the writing of Ryouken Houinbou's name. Add it to his profile.

There may be other issues I may not know yet.

Oh, and there are still some problems with ME:AAI. Don't worry, as far as I know, there aren't a lot.
1. In Ka-Shi Nou's and Calisto Yew's profile, there is still the use of their Japanese names.
2. In the sprite section, Colias Palaeno and Quercus Alba's names are still in the Japanese version.
3. In the sprite section, Cammy Meele's name is misspelled as Camy.
4. In the sprite section, the reenactment section is misspelled as reinactment.
5. In the location section, some area names are still in the Japanese version.
5.a. Bando Land is supposed to be Gatewater Land.
5.b. The office in Allebahst is supposed to be Quercus' office instead of Carnage's office.
5.c. West Area is supposed to be Wild, Wild, West Area.
5.d. Airplane lounge is supposed to be First-class lounge.
5.e. Stage Area is supposed to be Stadium.
5.f. Waiting room is supposed to be Defendant Lobby.
6. Some evidence names from that section is still in the Japanese versions (e.g. GoYou-kun is supposed to be Mr. Ifly piggy bank).

It's weird that I'm pretty much the only one who notices these errors. But I just want the information to be accurate. XD

Wow, goodluck to you guys! You're doing the whole fandom a great service in your efforts to make this game available to English speakers. If I knew even a lick of Japanese, I would try to do my part in translating the script, but alas, I am solely an English speaker.

I apologize if these are redundant questions, but what would you wager is your percentage of progress on the script thus far? I think I read somewhere that you guys are choosing to keep the game as true to localization canon as possible, so how are you determining what to rename the new characters?

Your best bet is to look here: http://z11.invisionfree.com/court_recor ... owforum=26

However they don't release status reports, but you can see that they're working on case 2. The names were decided (not all are final yet) in 3 months of discussions and they tried to keep the original pun(s) as well as to make sure that the names fit into the AA universe.

Edit: Image This button is only visible, when you click on the Edgeworth button, but you won't see it when you open the "Characters" page.

I can't look at it... I suppose because I didn't have an account with the old site. Oh well.

Case 2? They are indeed making some progress. I'm getting excited.

Unfortunately all the links still appear to be broken, though I'm not sure if they'd release the fanon names there... but I'm really curious. Do you know what some of the decisions were? I'm particularly interested in what they renamed Yumihiko and Mikagami.

Post subject:  Re: GK2 Updating Begins

Yumihiko: Sebastian Debeste (not final, but pretty much decided)
Mikagami: Justine Palladium, Justine Pallathena, Justine Dicea, Justine Sapienta (still need to decide the surname, the first two are the most populars))

Post subject:  Re: GK2 Updating Begins

Ahahahaha, Sebastian? Yesssss. That works so well. It's a reference to the Little Mermaid, isn't it? A name like that suits his smug demeanor as well.

Personally I'm more partial toward Pallathena. Paladin + Goddess of Wisdom? Yeah.

Just got the 1st DVD for the musical today :D I'll help out with what ever you'd like
and HakoNiNeko has a forum about it (with access to subs) here: http://s11.invisionfree.com/court_recor ... topic=4011

I really believe it should be more readily available for fans of the series. (it was a nightmare for me just trying to get the first musical)
