That looks suspiciously authentic. It doesn't off hand look like a fans style, and looks consistent with Level 5's animations. Source?

As much as I'd like to speculate, I'll refrain from doing so. At times like this, I don't really care whether it's going to star Phoenix or Apollo, as long as this game is out. It's more fun letting myself surprised.
@ SolidMario7: With this, and the GS movie, I think there might be a chance AAI2 get localised. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for more news!

Like I said, someone from 4chan posted it. Besides that, I don't have any source off of where the poster got the image from. I was hoping someone from here would know it's origin.

Unknown. The article says that the animation is by BONES and that this is the first appearence of Nick and Maya in the game. They speculate the building you see in the animation might be related.
Besides the information already mentioned in the other topic, it seems that anison legend Mizuki Ichirou performed both the Tonosaman theme song and Love Love Guilty.
There is also a bit on scrapped characters from both Gyakuten Kenji 1 and 2. One is Inukai Ruka, a girl who only opens her heart for dolphins, forcing Edgeworth to become friends with dolphins. There was also another third chapter for GK2 planned at first, where Shimon would have appeared and something more spoilerish I won't mention here.

We can assume that if its not a fake and it is in fact genuine, then this poster is from one of the in game cutscenes, and that it is before the dimensional shift, but to have them on a plane is kinda pulling it Stephen King style. (and if any of you are wondering, then watch the film "Langoliers"
And if phoenix is sent from his time period to laberynth city, how does Layton get there? since his time period is never clearly explained.
All these questions are probably meant to go somewhere else :P

My WMG suggests that Layton has somehow contacted Nick (and as any traditional gentleman, I'd say he did so with a letter) and perhaps asked for his services in some matter. Although that wouldn't really make too much sense, since London has attorneys of its own... But I can't really think of many reasons as to why they would go to London in business unless there would be some client there. Maybe the Witch Girl or otherwise... Maybe Nick can be the only one to defend her, having dealt with spirits and whatnot, he's the only one who would believe it in the first place.
Possibilities are many.

Yes after all you've seen the technology level and magic in Labyrinth city, it's supposed to be set in a reality set aside from both universes.
Whether Phoenix and Layton themselves live in the same universe I'm not sure though isn't Layton set in a totally different time period?

Some people are just very concerned about their health. Even though modern airplanes have air filtration systems, the mask is a precaution against airborne diseases. Airplanes are enclosed spaces, so something like that could spread easily, if a filtration system was not present.
