Nintendo World Reports that, while Capcom is attending E3, none of the games they'll show for Nintendo systems will have playable demos.

Considering Level-5 is not showcasing at E3, it's safe to assume that, should Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney even gets announced officially in English there, it has no chance of being playable. However, screenshots, trailers, or even just a verbal nod are not yet out of the question.

If Prof.Layton vs Phoenix Wright does not come out for 3DS, I will not have any other reason to purchase one.
This may seem a bit extreme, but I have been waiting for this game for what feels like a very long time. I don't want to waste all my hard earned money for a system when the one game I want may not even be localized.

It's in Level-5's ball park if Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney gets localized. I seriously doubt they'd turn down a chance to cash in on their mascot.

Unsurprising, but still a little disappointing. You'd think Capcom would have something playable on a Nintendo system.

capcom is slowly digging its own grave... their fans have lot a lot of faith in them that playable demos could at least help dissuade the fans from giving up on them...

Dude. That's not a conspiracy. If they have nothing to show, they have nothing to show. Square had that trouble last year where they were working on a ton of projects, but none of them were Ina presentable state. Yes, their show sucked. But it's better to take the blow then pretend you have something you don't.

If they 'cancled' demoing for Nintendo then that's reason to riot. They didn't. So there's nothing to read. I think this sort of leak is bad PR crowd control. Like when we learned the name of the Wii a good amount of time before E3. By the time E3 actually occurred, everyone had burned themselves out about whining about the name, that all they could concentrate on was what was actually show cased. This may be a similar tactic.

This. A demo or even some viable information would have inspired a little good faith to the fans on thier part. Then again, this is Capcom we're talking about...

Well, unless you're personally going to E3, I don't think this should make that much of a difference to you :P I guess it's nice to hear about how demos are, but all this means is that they don't have any games in production that are at the demo stage.

Hopefully we'll get some juicy info/announcements to make up for it ^_^

When did this grave digging exactly start, in your opinion?

To entirely honest, I haven't noticed it until recently. :sadshoe:

It started when Capcom choose not to localize GK2.

Nah. I don't believe that. If you are going to drag Ace Attorney into it, it'd be when AAI wasn't released in Europe in the rainbow of languages it traditionally was. AAI2 was subject to bad timing. AAI2 was a rush job in Japan to be sold while the DS was still relevant, never mind an international release.

More modern and relevant fallacies of Capcom involve promising to release Megaman Legends 3 on the eShop channel as a demo. Said demo was completed but Capcom Japan pulled out for only the most suspect of reasons. Then there's some fighting game where Capcom sold a full price retail game, and left had of the game behind a pay wall. That was robbery.

With those two mountains of Poo on Capcom's reputation anything they do now that's unpopular is blamed on Capcom for not caring.

The bad reputation is indeed hard earned on Capcom's part, but the fans are quite misguided when something else is indeed Capcom's stupidity, and when it's normal reality not being friendly.

personally I think the whole on-disk DLC crap is what's killing capcom's credibility. Didn't the BBB downgrade Capcom's rating because of it?

But yeah, hopefully they'll at least announce downloadable demos...

honestly I think the grave-digging began when Capcom decided to do things like UMvC3 and stuff, causing people to go out and buy another version of a game, and then STILL include dlc. The lack of localization of GK2 didn't help.

But the biggest kick in the teeth was selling The Mercenaries 3D at the full price of a 3DS retail game. That game was complete and utter rubbish and should have been sold at like 20$ MAX at launch.

You think that's bad? You should see iOS's Smurf game by Capcom.

Is Capcom's Smurfs' Village only top-grossing due to accidental in-app purchasing?

THAT is unethical robbery. Offing $99 worth of in game currency to a game targeted at little kids. That is unforgivable.

That's smurfing hilarious!

Though yeah it's incredibly unethical, I wonder if this is indeed an indicator in a downturn for Capcom.

Although I'd like to have some hope for their ethics and say there are all genuine problems behind these.
