As initially suspected, the game 'did' indeed make an appearance at New York ComicCon in the form of a playable demo at Capcom's booth.

Unfortunately, no new details surfaced there. According to Alice on Twitter, the game was "-gorgeous. The art was so clear and beautiful." But the only info about the game there was that it was 'coming soon' according to a display next to the demo.

As for when we can expect a release date, it could be as early as this coming week, or as late as December. But with NYCC almost done, there's little motivation at this point for Capcom to hold their punches.

As an aside, assuming the Trilogy is sitting approved on Apple's servers (which isn't necessarily a safe assumption), I'd be personally surprised if the trilogy came out next week. With NYCC still fresh, I figure Capcom would want to provide some time for the press to digest all the stuff they've uncovered there.

But still, we're that much closer to getting the game. (And then we can turn our attention to Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney in Japan. Man, only a month and a half from now. Time is sure flying! Do you think Capcom might save the Trilogy till around then?)

I asked the attendants at the booth about a release date, both gave me the standard "we don't know/we can't say" response. Still, it does look fantastic. I didn't get the chance to play it myself, but watching others play the short demo was still awesome.

It was really beautiful indeed! I couldn't get over how clear all the sprites were.
I tried to take some quick shots of the game but I only got two, since the girl in back of me was a little more than displeased that there was a wait to check it out.

Edit: I didn't make it to the panel on Friday, but from this article it seems that it's been given a Fall release date. Not too specific, but a little better than just "coming soon."

I went to NYCC with Blademaster_Orca but we went to Capcom booth at different times:

Unfortunately, when I went The Phoenix Wright Trilogy was the only thing at the Capcom booth without a line of people waiting to play it. I spent about 10 mintues playing the first case of AA1 on an iPhone without attendants or any interruptions. The game looks amazing with beautiful character sprites/artwork but the Court Room got touched up but not to same degree as the characters which kinda of an eyesore. I can't say anything about other backgrounds for the game as I didn't see any. I, personally, found buttons on the screen little cluttered together but not enough to break the flow of the game.
