With Capcom's NYCC panel just hours away, I felt that it might be a good idea to give some advice in the event that the Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD is released soon.

Remember, this isn't the first iOS debut of Phoenix Wright, that honor goes to the older direct DS port. BUT, if you happen to have already bought that app, you will get all of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney unlocked for free. Just, remember to have the old app installed on your device before you play the new HD version, (And make sure it's the same account you used to buy the old game as the new game).

If you don't already own it. No problem, and no rush. The HD trilogy comes with GS1-1 and GS1-2 unlocked for free.* And, at least in Japan, the amount you saved by owning the original iOS app was the same as the cost of the original app. That could change, but I don't see a motivation to.

*(Though the Japanese only got GS1-1 unlocked for free by default)

But if you want the original version, go right ahead. I personally like the "bottom screen" items more on the non-HD version then the HD one, it was more responsive/smoother then the current one in GS123HD, that and the Animations contain all their frames from the DS edition, but other then that, it's not special. But if you want it, I'd grab it soon. While potentially on the cusp of the Trilogy's HD release, I don't see a reason for the non-HD version to stick around. I guess you could view it as some sort of a digital collector's item? *shrug*

It's cool that owners of this version can get game 1 free. I had purchased this about a week before PW123 was announced for the US, so I'm glad it wasn't a total loss.

From the little I've played, its a replica of everything in the DS version. The only thing I don't like about it is that the frame rate seems worse (it's choppier) than the DS version.

Spoiler Alert: GS123HD is much more choppy. It's just looks shiny while doing it.

Wow. That's a shame. Granted, I'm mainly buying it as a show of support for the series, and wasn't really planning on playing them instead of my DS copies, but its a shame none-the-less. Wonder why it's so choppy.

My guess is that it's because GS123HD was designed to be on both Android and iOS, the differences in the systems and hardware calls for a 'lowest common denominator' or something. That's the only thing I can guess, because there's no WAY they'd deliberately sabotage themselves like this. Worst violator is the game select screen. Laggy, unresponsive, feels like it was designed for a mouse pretending to be a finger.

Haha While Falon still hasn't totally measured up to Conan O'Brien during his tenure with "Late Night", This is one thing I love about him. Video games are a huge part of his show. (For instance, when the newest Zelda came out, they had a big thing about it one night with Reggie from Nintendo of America and Falon demoed Skyward Sword.) Falon has a bunch of die-hard fans who no doubt play video games, so this might get some new Phoenix fans on board! (Even if he kinda screwed up on which version was "new"). A lot of responses to the tweet are something along the lines of "This looks interesting, I'll check it out!"
