* Famitsu sales are slightly better because they apparently take DL sales into account, whereas Media Create apparently doesn't.

So, Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney had a quite nice first week, especially against Animal Crossing : New Leaf, which is only 4th in Media Create's sales data because of serious shortages, making the game hard to find in stores.

Better then Layton's 3DS debut, but still significantly less then Layton 2, 3, and 4.

As for Ace Attorney, counting digital, it's about tied with GK2, but significantly less then GS4 and GK1

It sold better then Layton 3DS, and that's getting localized, and Level-5 is in charge of the localization of Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney.

So glad that the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game also made it into the list. This and the Ace Attorney stuff is what I'm looking forward to most for the 3DS!

The only reason I bought a 3DS XL anyway. Oh well - I'm hoping for a localization of this game soon. Or else I'll have to resort to buying a Japanese 3DS... if that's even possible for me! :payne:

But you also got to take into account the difference in the userbase, which was significantly smaller when Layton 5 launched... that being said, the launch line-up wasn't that hot either, so it sorts of compensate, I think.

One thing we have to keep in mind, is that it's a cross-over, and we can't really assume the sales will be 'regular series A sales + regular series B sales = cross-over sales'. Some people might be put off by the cross-over aspect (AA fans who don't like puzzles for example).

But those sales are quite good, in my opinion, especially against monstahz like Animal Crossing or Monster Hunter 3G. They're really great when you compare them to Time Travelers... man, the sales for that one were simply abysmal. Glad PLvsAA is doing much better. (Then again, it also looks like a much better game :p)

Oh, and it's Level-5 publishing the game, so they'll be the ones to decide whether it's localised... so I'm confident. If it'd been Capcom... :yuusaku:

Yeah, that too, thanks for mentioning it.
The real '''''problem'''' is Layton fans who may be worries off by the AA part of the game, and the AA fans who may be worried about the Laytoin/puzzles part.

Personally, I can't really remember a cross-over that sold more than the individual series it brought together... excluding fighting games like Smash Bros and co of course.

Regarding the third week analysis, I see that Famitsu's list places PL vs AA lower than Media Create does on theirs. But as Famitsu takes download sales into account, that seems strange.

At the same time, Animal Crossing has more sales on Famitsu's list than on Media Create's. I'm assuming that is because of those DL sales, but then why is PL vs AA worse off on there?

I'm confused. :lana:

Another thing to take into account is that Media Create and Famitsu/Enterbrain don't all take into accounts the same stores/retailers/etc... Even though you could say about 95%+ are the same between the two trackers, the remaining 5% will inevitably lead to discrepancies between the two.

Besides, the two trackers don't necessarily have the same methods and all for counting, so yeah, it can get confusing... but in general, the difference isn't that important, and more often that not, is nothing short of statistical noise.

So yeah, you shouldn't worry too much about that, and do like me : chose one tracker over the other :shoe:
