So there is a Layton vs GS artbook/illustration book/whatever the correct name is scheduled for release on February 14, 2013. And that's all we know? Like hosobo notes on his blog, we are probably also getting a lot of the art and stuff in the book through the free DLC within the game. (Manga-Oh, via hosoboso).

I didn't know where to post that, so I'll just leave that here...

It's concept art for Layton/Luke and Phoenix/Maya. They seem to have done some experiments, where they tried to go with Layton style for AA characters, and AA style for Layton characters. In the end, they seem to have realised it'd work better if you kept the original style for each series!
Spoiler: Layton style

I love how Luke jusst stayed the same. :shoe:

This is apparently from an in-game gallery (2nd DLC I believe).

Huh. I actually like the Laytonesque design for Phoenix and Maya. (I could just be used to the old chibi drawings, though)

But uh... the GS'd Layton just looks... strange. For some reason, his hat seems too tall, even though it's pretty much the same size.

Wishful thinking, but I hope they have a concept design of a 17-year-old 'Miracle Mask' Layton interacting with either Phoenix or Maya. You know, just randomly.

If you look closely, you'll see that AA Layton's legs are much longer than the original (where the 'chest' and his legs are pretty much the same length). He really looks like a giant on this one!

Personally, I kinda like his face on that one... it'd make a for a cool character in a AA game.

They still kept the eye designs even when redoing the rest.
