Kinda interesting that both Portopia and Ohotsk made into the list: both being written by DQ's Horii, developed by Chunsoft and actually very alike in my opinion... Wonder how high Famicom Tantei Club was in the final rankings.

I feel like "Most Popular Game" doesn't always translate into "Best Game", but it's always great to see Gyakuten up there, especially so high.

Also GS is the only one on that list that I've done, so... I already knew about Steins;Gate, but I'm not sure I'll really be able to do it because of platforms (and I know there's an anime, but... >_>) but since the other three are for the S/NES, maybe I'll be able to get an emu+rom for them...

Huh. I wonder what blocked Professor Laton from the puzzle category?
Sure, there's a very thin layer of adventure game in there. But's it's really an excuse just to go between puzzles.

And what's with the simulation category? 4 of the 5 are tactical RPGs. Sim City's the only one I could seriously qualify as a Simulation game. Unless this is a definition of simulation I'm not aware of? I'd argue Animal Crossing is more deserving. I'm also weirding myself out since I love all those tactical RPGs listed.

Yesterday also brought us the news that Kamaitachi no Yoru is going to be translated for iOS/Android. If you've got access to the JP PSN store, the PS version is available in the game archives (and I definitely recommend this version over the Super Famicom version, as the PS version includes a handy flow-chart system that allows you to jump across chapters. Not having that feature makes getting all the endings a very time-consuming process)

I only have Nintendo consoles, and I don't even have a smartphone, so I don't think I'll be able to play that (unless I emulate the SNES version)

There is an excellent English fan-translation for Steins;Gate on PC and iOS. You can find the PC version on Pirate Bay. Before you call it illegal, think of it this way. The game companies involved obviously don't care enough or see it as financially viable to release the game outside of Japan. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
