Things have been very exciting on the Japanese front, but one curious Capcom-Unity member wanted to know: how's AA looking in the west?

Capcom's Chris Svensson had this to say in response:

Quote:
AA5 is where it's going for the moment. I have no new AAI2 news at this time.

AA5 is coming along great. I saw a build last month when I was in Osaka. We'll have some news for Western fans in the not so distant future (we know you want to know and we know you know the Japan dates). Hang in there...

Sad to hear that the second AAI game is stuck in limbo still, but it sounds like we'll be hearing about AA5 sometime in the next few months.
Hi! I've largely stepped back from C-R due to life stuff. Please contact one of the other staff members for help!

This is good news. All we've heard so far about AA5 in the West is that it's happening, but given Capcom's recent behaviour I think I'll be sceptical of that until the day that I insert it into my 3DS. With that said, the more they talk about it, the more I feel reassured that it really will be coming over here.

With regards to AAI2, I kind of wish they'd commit either way now. I feel like we've been teased too long as a fanbase.

Vague as usual, but it sounds like Capcom US might be working closely with Capcom JP on this one. I don't know how things normally work with Capcom's localization of AA games, but it seems Capcom US is starting early on it for once.

And yes, I know the DS version of the original trilogy came out at a similar time in JP and US, but the script for those games were already done (aside from Rise from the Ashes) since the DS games are just ports. It'd be interesting if Capcom US is taking the extra effort to work on localization now so we can get an expedited release of this game. Probably not a simultaneous release, but it would be awesome if we only had to wait months instead of a year for it.

I don't think they've been "teasing" us at all... All he ever says is that he doesn't have any news for it. I mean, yeah, he keeps bringing it up, but I think that's more because we keep pestering him about it.

Also, I'm not sure this is going to be a sign that the localization is starting early or will happen quicker. My hunch is that the reason we're getting the Western announcements so early is because they know we're upset/angry about AAI2, and so they want to soothe us by assuring us ASAP that we're getting AA5.

The only reason I was guessing that they were starting early is because he mentioned seeing a game build. Then again, I guess that could have just been a demonstration.

It was in Osaka, so it was probably... actually... come to think of it, I wonder where exactly the localization team is located.

Sounds good. I believe the turnaround time from Japan to US for AJ was a ten or so months, and AAI was eight, so if they're working closely...who knows? We might get this before Valetine's Day next year.

Once again, Capcom has done an excellent job with picking times to release games. GS5 will launch in the middle of summer in Japan, without much competition and where it's the most popular, and AA5 will likely launch in late Winter/early Spring in the US, which is far enough away from the usual holiday blockbuster games to avoid being forgotten about, and also serve as a good change of pace from the general barrage of first person shooters and action games released around then. Plus, there aren't a lot of big 3DS titles releasing then, so it's got that going for it as well.

Hopefully it'll be the AA game to finally break the million sales mark.

This entire message is very vague like stated earlier but everything that was said is very good. Soon we will get some AA5 news for the west and he mentioned AAI2. I have for a long time I have given up hope that AAI2 was ever going to come to the west. But now that it has been mentioned again it gives me some hope that it may happen. :minuki:

Google says that their office is in Pennsylvania, wherever that is. But what's important is that their USA branch is indeed located in USA.

Pennsylvania is an East coast state in the United States, south of New York state and north of Maryland.

But that doesn't mean the localization team is located there. I would be very surprised if Capcom only had one office building.

It's probably not in Japan though. Modern technology would allow them to work in the United States, even if their translator lives in Japan (which wouldn't be surprising).

Oh, he totally didn't already say that two months ago :

Quote:
We'll have new AA5 news in the not so distant future to share though. We did confirm it was coming Westward back at TGS.

Guess his 'in the not so distant future' means E3.

Could also be at another Nintendo Direct if Nintendo does another one between now and E3.

What about the Ace Attorney HD Trilogy? Did Capcom already forget about that one too?

Christian Svensson said last month that the collection is planned for April, though that's not confirmed as a solid release date. April is dwindling away fast, so we better see or hear something real soon. :yuusaku:

Never put "Capcom" and "release date" in the same regard.

Hey guys, just wondering... Why did Capcom re-release the TGS trailer? I mean, why not just show off a new one with the release date? I was so excited when they announced a "new" trailer, only to find out it was the TGS one with the release date pasted at the end. I think they're going to release something in the upcoming events soon?

To restart the hype train maybe?
But yeah, it's lazy, and they could have waited to show a new trailer.

I don't mind them showing the trailer again. But did they actually claim it to be new?

A lot of websites did. I was pretty excited only to have my hopes cut down. :uramidn:

There won't be another Nintendo Direct before E3 (except a 'Pre-E3 2013', provided they have one this year). There may be another one right after E3 (late June), but last year, they had the 3DS XL, so not sure they're gonna have another one this time around.

I'm pretty confident we won't hear about AA5 in the West before E3.

Too early to declare it legally deceased, there is still hope (for example, depends on how well AA123 HD will sell).

I'd rather have GS5 than AAI2 personally, but I still hope to see AAI2 released in the U.S. one day. I'm hoping maybe if GS5 sells well in the U.S., Capcom might finally get off their lazy asses and localize AAI2.
