Well, even if we're getting AA5 news "soon", it looks like we won't be getting AA123HD anytime soon. In another Ask Capcom thread, Capcom's Chris Svensson had this to say on the release:

I'm pleased that this time they at least didn't just let the release window they said before slide by without saying anything. I couldn't possibly understand why this project is getting so many delays though.

The games have already been translated, and although they might be fixing up the odd spelling/grammar errors. (I remember seeing at least 1 in each of the games)

Also, they need to edit the images (like change Phoenix's sweater to have a "P" instead of "Ryu" )

That aside, I'm not sure why that'd take so long. Maybe the Japanese version wasn't made in an appropriate way to just re-insert English text, so they have to re-code a way to fit things like 3 lines per dialogue instead of 2 like the Japanese, or other things like that.

Sounds too stupid to do, considering there was high probability of English release, since they already have English texts. Also, re-coding it for English release should be easy too. My guess, is that they are tidying game up for western release (since I had impression, that Japanese release is quite... unfinished, with missing blinking animation, bad security video for 1-5, etc). Also, I hope that they maybe will make Android version, too.

Realy Capcom!? The Japanese version came out in February 2012! It doesn't take EIGHTEEN MONTHS to re-release a game that already has English scripts! The game is finished, the script has been done for years; what's taking so long!? I know that it wouldn't be finished overnight, but there's absolutely no excuse for these constant delays. They probably had more "important" projects to work on, so they threw this one on the back burner. It's clear that they don't care about this series in the West. :zenitora:

I would be angrier, but I've already played these games before. Still, that doesn't change the fact that I'm baffled by Capcom's lack of care for this series. We still haven't heard anything from GK2 or Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney; and it's been months since we've heard anything from AA5 other than it's coming out of Japan. Wake up, Capcom! You're a great company! You just make the dumbest decisions sometimes! :grey:

Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney is all on Level 5 to localize. Capcom has no control whether it is localized or not.

Well then, I'm sure it will eventually happen. It's Professor Layton, their flagship series, so there's absolutely no reason not to. It just takes awhile for Level 5 to localize their own games. :yuusaku:

I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

This sounds to me that this no longer about fine tuning the game. Sure I don't know what Capcom is actually thinking, but I would guess that they are waiting for a better time to release the game. Sure it doesn't make much sense since its an App rather than a say a 3DS game, but I think this makes more sense then them taking this long to insert the narration they have had for years into the Japanese HD version. Perhaps they will go so far as showing it off at E3 :eh?:

If Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney gets localized (and gets announced soon/ e3) I could imagine it making an "entrance" then. It could be targeted a little towards Layton fans who want to catch up.

Okay, I get the frustration and all, I really want this game too. But what you guys are failing to understand is that this probably isn't Capcoms fault that its delayed. There are procedures they have to go through. Creating the game/porting yes, then there's the publishing side which is not as easy as it seems to us.

It has to re-rated again as it is a new game on a new console, which means filing many different types of rating requests as each country has its own rules on ratings, beta tested to make sure that there are no bugs and issues. Especially on IOS, if they test on IOS 5, and IOS 6 comes out (which as you saw it did get release after the japanese one was released and just before the western release was due) it has to be retested on the new software to be compatible with the newer update as that will be what most people have.

No point in releasing a game that will not work on the newest software available especially one as big as this.

Last but not least, Apple has to credit and approve every app that goes into the App Store, meaning they test themselves to see if its fit for purpose. If it isn't then capcom will have to re-evaluate and try again.

These are just a few issues that can cause major delays on games such as these, and you can say all you want that the games were coded in English so they can just port it over, but its a completely different design of platform meaning total recoding. Not to mention they have to go through it with a comb to make sure everything is perfect.

So stop blaming Capcom, it will come, there are just a lot of procedures to follow that I'm sure capcom would love to skip if they could, but then that would just make the game flawed without the proper testing.
