Apologies for the delay on this! With the results from the first round, we’ve narrowed down the finalists to five fantastic entries. Now it’s up to you guys to decide who’ll take the top spot!

Voting this time is much simpler; just rank the five finalists from favorite to least favorite. The poll will be open through Saturday the 1st, after which we’ll announce the winners.

The survey can be found over here.

Thanks again for your participation!

The overall idea (How unique, how well-done and how fitting it would be in-game) still applies?

Well I'd say it mattered the first time and we're probably just onto straight up "I like that one" now.

Why? They already passed through the rigorous categorical judgements. They have all been deemed on par with each other already. Though sure it doesn't really matter how you choose at this point I guess is what I'm trying to say.

Well, AAI forensic woman, Battler, Maya and Pearls were really something, but I suppose these indeed are some of the best.

...Trucy's great but that laugh is still pretty glitchy. Anyway, while we're speaking of animations alone... Cabanela's are a masterpiece.

I'm a bit "afraid" that Cabanela is gonna win simply cause it's Ghost Trick. Yes, the sprite is done well, but...

And I did my rank voting depending on the previous categories, how well they are done and all, as well as how well they'd fit into an AA game.

Well, I did vote Cabanela > Justice > Trucy > Butterfly Lady > Klavier, if I recall correctly.

Gyahh you got me rethinking my own votes now, I'm worried I voted Klavier too high.

You're free to vote however you wish now. Since you've already rated every sprite, there's no point in having you guys rate them again.

Consider this round a vote for the sprites that better round up all three categories that were voted on in round 1.

Also, if Cabanela does win, CatMuto, I'm pretty sure it'll be because it's an amazing sprite with spectacular amounts of effort and detail put into it. Not because it's "just Ghost Trick". You do know there are three Ace Attorney characters among these, don't you? If people would vote because of "he's from Ghost Trick", the same logic would apply to Ace Attorney, and everyone would want to vote for those three. You just lack actual logical arguments, is what I'm trying to say.

In any case, let the best sprites win.

I agree with Matador. Just because its Ghost Trick doesn't mean its getting special treatment. I think what Cat said would be disrespectful to the person who took their time and hard work into making that wonderful sprite.

It is a well done sprite, but... I still have this fear.

Spoiler:
Mostly because, even if it looks good, I still don't think this sprite would look any good or "proper" in an AA game. Same reason why I think that Mona Arch one, while done well, wouldn't fit. It would look off being in the game. Both of them just seem to miss.... the AA-part in their designs.

That was the thought I was afraid people would have when that was mentioned as one of the categories, because actual AA characters would always hold that advantage over original characters from elsewhere.

Spoiler: Well...
just because two of those finalists are based off of AA characters, that doesn't automatically mean they'd FIT into the game itself. That Gramarye? Nice and all, but I can't see it fit into an AA game, despite being based off of Trucy.

Why do you think these designs wouldn't fit? What's wrong with them, anyway? <.<

If not, when what fit exactly...?

Some of the designs are very nice, but if you put them next to the "official" AA sprites... it just looks... TOO... different. It just sticks out like a sore thumb.

That still didn't answer the question of why they wouldn't fit into the game. It sounds more like your basing your opinion only off their looks.

Well appearance is what is necessary for a sprite to look proper in the game. Who cares about the backstory, every AA character is basically this: "Character who overreacts to EVERYTHING" any of the backstory can be forgotten when they do anything.

And as for an in-game example: I will pick Alita Tiala. Something about her design, her colors, her lines... it's nice, but never seemed to fit all that well into the AA game. Like somebody else had created her and she slipped in.

Well for some sprites like klavier I could see him fitting in if they give him the back story like they did with Hobo Phoenix. Cabanela could fit in ofcourse as another member of the police force or someone high up in the police force.

This isn't a character competition. It's ALL about looks. It's all about the skill and finesse of all these artists.

And it doesn't matter. People are gonna vote how they want.

By "Alita Tiala", you mean "almost every non-main AJ character"?

I would agree.

Mh, dunno. The others seemed okay, just something about Alita looked pretty off to me.

See, that was what I thought too, which is kind of why I chose Maya as my entrant for the contest. But that kind of wound up being a big mistake because I lost the chance to be truly creative and free with what I could do. Originally I was thinking about entering an OC, and later I thought about Clay or magician Apollo.

Also, I quite liked the butterfly woman's design! Perhaps it's a bit "out there", but there are quite a few characters whose designs are "out there" as well, so with a bit of adjustment to the design I could see it appear in an AA game.

AND, the Cabanela sprite is absolutely fantastic. Not because it's Ghost Trick, but consider the effort the spriter made for them as well. They went and fully animated his little dance. It doesn't quite match AA's style of animation but it was a very good attempt, and certainly something I couldn't and wouldn't have done. If people were already interested in voting for Cabanela because of the fact that he's from Ghost Trick, then the fact that it's well-drawn AND well-animated is the main part and topping on top of a sweet crumble base of a cake.

Of course, all this doesn't mean the other entrants didn't put in as much effort; they probably did and I applaud everyone for their hard work. Personally though I think the Cabanela sprites exhibit the most amount of skill of all the finalists, so I'm rooting for it to win.
