Update 7/12/14: We've found a designer and frontend dev, but we're still looking for a copywriter!

Court-Records is looking to make the second major overhaul in its history, and we need your help to do it! We're currently working on a redo of C-R's main site that aims to not only give a fresher look to the game content and coverage you know and love, but also gives the Ace Attorney community a place to share and discuss their fanwork, in any shape or size.

Most of the backend work is done, thanks to the wonderful Henke, but we're looking for two people to help us finish up the site:

  • A website designer. CSS and PHP experience is a must, with Less-CSS experience a huge plus. (This role has been filled! Thanks to all that applied.)
  • A data entry/copywriter. HTML experience is a must. This would involve writing content for the site and inserting it through some specialized forms.

For both roles, familiarity with setting up web development on your own machine (Apache server, MySQL, etc.) is desired - we can provide some help in getting set up, but if those words are all Greek to you, this might not be a good fit. This should be a short-term project; we're hoping to get things launched in the next few months.

Unfortunately, Court-Records runs on a bit of a shoestring budget, so we can't provide professional-level compensation; you'd be doing this for love of the series and probably some extra AA swag we have. Sorry - we understand for a lot of people this is their job, and if you can't do the work for financial reasons we don't blame you. If you're cool working like this, you'll of course be credited on the site.

If you're interested, drop us a line at courtrecord@gmail.com (no, there's no 's' in that), ideally with examples of your work.

As I said, we're hoping to have it done in the next few months, but this depends on if we're able to find people willing to help out, and then on their schedules.

I'd've applied to help if I could... Funnily enough, this kind of stuff is what I plan on studying in college. Too bad I don't even start until September. :sadshoe:

All the same, good luck to the people that will be working on this; hopefully it turns out great! :basil:

You can ask SHSL Despair. She is really good with HTML and making profiles so she can be a big help.

Heh. Oddly enough, this is kinda related to my studies right now. Unfortunately, I don't think I have enough experience to really help out though. But... Good luck with the site upgrades, guys~

I'd love to help out with the design of the website. I design various stuff such as websites, youtube banners, thumbnails, intro's etc. The only problem is that I don't know much about code (other than the HTML basics). :ron: I do have knowledge of Adobe Muse (a program used to make a website without a single line of code). :godot:

The thing is, HTML is just about breaking down the content into a tree of elements that contains text. It takes five minutes to learn the fundamentals and maybe 20 more to learn the important element types.

CSS on the other hand is mostly about telling the browser which elements should be drawn as boxes with a colored background and border. Doesn't really take more than maybe an hour to learn how the box model works.

No, the real trick to webdesign is knowing how to make something nice looking using the tools given. Hint: it is all about boxes.

...My first time here in forever.

And you know what?

F██k it, I'm down for this.

I haven't written PHP literally in forever, but if you guys already have the coupling engine to fetch posts from phpBB to use as newsposts, it shouldn't be hard to get the stuff you want going.

...Just please, do remember that I have a day job, that I'm NOT in Eagleland, so due to timezones we might not coincide sometimes, and that sometimes I'll be hard-pressed for time (never know what these gringos and hindis might come up with to keep my ass flooded with work) so this might take a while. >_> But I'm willing to help with whatever you guys need. I recently got into the AA fandom again, and would LOVE to help my former home flourish once more.

Damn, I'd love to help... I know the basics of HTML, and CSS looks easy enough, but I'm currently not in a position where I really want to put more on my plate... Maybe in a month or so, if you guys still need help, I'll drop a line; for now, all I can offer is good luck and a plate of virtual cookies :sadshoe:

Thanks for all the support - we've gotten several good-looking applications in through e-mail, mostly for the designer position, and we'll be reaching out to people soon on that front.

By all means contact us if you're interested in that position, but we've only gotten a few applicants for the copywriting/insertion position, so if that sounds more up your alley, we'd love to hear from you.

From what I can gather from the article itself, it seem like you guys are looking to set up some sort of gallery or something? If that's the case, are you going to be coding it from scratch or use some sort of existing software instead?

I have been coding this. It's mostly done code wise actually. And it isn't just a simple gallery. It's several database tables worth of information. It's cases, characters, games, fanart, fangames, fanfiction and more.

We just need to make it look good and put data in. We already have people on the first part, but we are still looking for someone to do the later.

Sorry for necromancing but is the copywriter position still open?
I am a professional Web-Developer currently residing in Germany.

I'd love to help out (voluntary of course). I am an active reader of court records for a few years now (though I've never been posting actively since English is not my mother tongue).

If the position is still open I'd love to apply officially.
