Court-Records is looking to make the second major overhaul in its history, and we need your help to do it! We’re currently working on a redo of C-R’s main site that aims to not only give a fresher look to the game content and coverage you know and love, but also gives the fandom a place to share, search, and discuss their fanworks and theories.
A big part of this redesign is filling in the content we haven’t covered yet, and to that end we’re looking for copywriters for the site. You’d be writing content for areas we’re lacking (primarily AAI2, DD, and PLvsPW), and likely doing some editing of older content. With AA6 coming up, we'll also need content for that once it's out.
Some questions and answers:
Q: What skills/experience will I need?A: Strong writing and editing skills - English fluency is a must. Basic HTML formatting knowledge (how to start a new paragraph, how to bold text, etc.) is also required. As for the actual writing, the ability to summarize without getting too dry is what’s really key here.
Q: How much of this content would I be writing?A: Depends on how many people we get. We've got one copywriter right now and that's nowhere near enough. The plan is that you'll work on things one page at a time. You'll be assigned a character profile or one part of a case synopsis to work on, and once you're done with that, we'll give you another thing to work on.
Q: Will I be expected to cover Dai Gyakuten Saiban?A: Only if you speak fluent Japanese and volunteer.
Q: What is the timetable for this project?A: At present, we don’t have a set date for this release. However, we will be doing our best to compartmentalize the work such that you’d only need to be taking part in the content writing and wouldn’t be bogged down by other elements (such as the site layout.) In other words, we hope this will only be a few months on your part, but that also depends on how many people become copywriters.
Q: Didn’t I see an ad like this about two years ago? And again a year ago?A: This post's timestamp should be a dead giveaway. We've been hitting a lot of snags in getting everything together. We're almost always shorthanded and for the longest time, we haven't really had anyone managing this project to make sure everyone has something they're supposed to be working on.
Q: Is this a paid position?A: Court-Records runs on a bit of a shoestring budget, so we can’t provide professional-level compensation; you’d be doing this for love of the series and some AA swag, like the rest of us. Sorry - we understand for a lot of people this is their job, and if you can’t do the work for financial reasons we don’t blame you. If you’re cool working like this, you’ll of course be credited on the site.
If you’re interested, please drop us a line at
courtrecord@gmail.com (no, there’s no s in that) with a case summary of AAI2-1, Turnabout Target. By "summary," we mean both the “Edgeworth POV” (a description of the case as it happens in-game) and a “Villain POV” (a “how it happened” of the crime) -
see our Cases page for examples. There is a fan translation out, and at least one YouTube channel has footage of it in its entirety, so you don't need to speak Japanese to be able to write a summary of this case.
Hi! I've largely stepped back from C-R due to life stuff. Please contact one of the other staff members for help!Wooster wrote:
If there was such a thing as the "
Wooster Seal of Approval",
this post would get it.
