[Announcing the Court-Records 3.0 beta!]

Image

Three years ago, the - if not impossible, at least seemingly pretty improbable for a while there - happened: the mainline Ace Attorney series returned. Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies was the series' first attempt at moving forward in six years, bringing together Phoenix, Apollo, and newcomer Athena in a new story and on a new platform. But not everyone made it along for the ride. Didn't there used to be a spirit medium out there?, a few of us asked. Or a snackoo-loving detective?

Today, their stories - and the rest of the crew's - continue at last, after a brief detour into Victorian London. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice - or more simply, Gyakuten Saiban 6 - releases in Japan just under twelve hours from the time of this post. The Wright Anything Agency trio returns as the stage splits between the mystical kingdom of Khura'in and the somewhat-more-ordinary courts of Japanifornia. Joining them are a bevy of familiar and unfamiliar faces - Maya Fey and Ema Skye return to support our heroes, while newcomers Rayfa Padma Khura'in and Nayuta Sadmadhi stand in their way.

As always, the Court-Records forums are open for chatting anything and everything AA6 - with spoilers clearly marked, so those of us who have to wait for the English release can tread safely. The traditional "I just want to know one thing..." Q&A thread is open, as are general discussion threads for each case - and of course, anything else goes as well. Who knows? You might even find a spot to talk about the more musical portions of the game.

But regardless, dust off your attorney's badges and grab your magatamas, folks. Court is back in session.

Good write up!
This is the most hyped I've been for a game, it's a shame that we have to wait 4 months, but hey, at least it's not 1 year like the Layton crossover:p

Huzzah! This is where I bow out of AA6 discussion for the next few months. May the lucky ones enjoy the spoilers coming their way, and may the even luckier ones enjoy the Japanese release.

Awesome! Also, I'm going to be expecting those music rips soon! And Bolt, can you also rip the official Apollo's theme and Pursuit (since the PAD version of Pursuit had the wrong introduction) just so we can also hear the loop? Thanks!

I'm gonna read up on the spoilers to make sure this isn't just a soulless cash grab.

I know why you must get that impression with the way it was marketed... were you around when they marketed DD? ...Or was it only after seeing the pointless Klavier cameo and etc. that it made you feel this way? I say this because I honestly think this has been marketed exactly like DD, only, we have even more returning characters on top of the same returning characters of DD, which seems like a lot, but technically I don't even think it is.

I bet if the marketing had focused only on the original content and characters and then we only got to see Ema and Co. upon playing it, as opposed to the rather aggressive marketing strategy, our perception of what this is would've been different.

And even as someone who felt DD was too heavy on the fanservice side, I was still surprised when I played it at how many original characters it introduced every case. I don't think there'd been that many unique and exclusive characters since the first Ace Attorney or AJAA at the time.

And like DGS, I felt very lukewarm, almost sour at first at the debut, but the more I see closing in the release, the more I feel like this might be pretty good after all.

I was around when they were marketing DD yeah and i was excited when i heard that Klavier, Trucy and Pearl were coming back i indeed had the same excitement as you guys have now with Maya and Blackquill coming back.

It's just that i was actually them to do something when i saw the poster for that game, untop of the things i feel like this game did wrong i was incredibly disappointed that my favorite character was relegated to a background element, Klavier wasn't the case 3 prosecutor and Pearl did absolutely nothing.

So yeah i'd probably be singing a different tune for this game if they held off the returning characters for when the player got to experience them in game.

I expect at least one or three of the announced characters to be there just for the sake of being there, and if I were to guess those would be Blackquill, Edgeworth and Pearl.

With those expectations in check I feel like I'm ready to see what it offers beyond that inevitable disappointment.

I found case 2's on Miiverse as well. (just have a look, it's not under spoiler tags, but just in case)
Word of the wise,
Don't go on Miiverse. I spoiled some case 1/2 things and I regret it... :sadshoe:

Yeah (I think my Miiverse region is set to Japan, so I found it.) Community name is the English name though.
Most of the stuff is under spoiler tags, so really spoiling info is an intentional action. (I just let curiosity get the best of me :bellboy: That satisfied me enough to not pursue the game more.)

I wish the English release date was sooner, but whatever. I can probably avoid major spoilers until then, if I believe in myself.
