Am I screwed if I forgot to pick up the black light? I saved before I got locked in the basement but I can't leave the wine cellar to get the light. Is the code on the paper needed to continue?

It helps, but you don't really need it. You just need to tilt the DS to the side, if I recall correctly.

And yes, that code is necessary.

Alrighty, I was able to see it without having to use the black light X_X That answers my question, this can be locked up now.

I didn't find the black light either, so I just saved right before I needed the code, guessed until I got it, died, reset, and used it with a healthier oxygen supply.

That part was dumb. I mean sure, maybe Kyle has lungs of steel, but even he can't inhale all of the oxygen in that room in sub ten minutes.

Although the message on the computer gave me quite the shock.

It was a bit exaggerated in HD =P

Though he was also underground, I don't know, that might make a difference in the oxygen levels of the room.
