That would be a great idea. Strangely, some people don't even want us to have this. As long as he dosen't hog up the spotlight in cases I don't understand why people want him to remain a bum for the rest of his life.

No. I don't see much point of that. It doesn't change Polly's character, and Phoenix doesn't seem bothered by becoming a hobo.

No. I don't see much point of that. It doesn't change Polly's character, and Phoenix doesn't seem bothered by becoming a hobo.
Well, it'd at least give Polly some of the spotlight, kinda. Everyone was focused on the Hobo thing during the game (I first saw the Apollo Justice Game at a friend's house, and I just stared at his Profile thing for an hour trying to figure out how the hell he turned into a piantist hobo. At least I was prepared when I got the game...) And with less Phoenix, Apollo could actually be allowed to figure out a case by himself, or at least tell why he became an attorney. Capcom can't get rid of Phoenix completely, though. The fans would revolt.
Aw, to hell with it- I just can't take him serious with 'Papa' written in pink on his head.

Really, guys. I loved the PW arc characters, but they should stay in PW arc. I don't want the AJ series to end up just like some rehash cameo-filled game, I want it to be something that stands on its own, with its own memorable characters. I'm not saying I wouldn't want to see one or two(especially Lana), but seriously? We don't need the entire cast of PW arc making a guest appearance.
I'm more focused on wanting to see the characters introduced in AJ again, like Machi, or Wocky. I don't want Phoenix out of the series or killed off or anything, but I don't want him playable. A mentor who works in the backround, sure. But playable? No.

I mean, I thought his epic story was finished. Now it's Apollo's turn. He needs more character development, and he didn't get that much; instead, Phoenix did. In fact, I believe the original writers wanted Phoenix completely out of the picture, but publicists said they couldn't do that
I will have to find the evidence for this, however, since no one is going to believe such a bold claim.I have a hypothesis: a reason many people didn't like Apollo as much as Phoenix was because we didn't get to know Apollo as a character that much. Sure, we played him a lot, and we learn his rather interesting backstory (in my humble opinion), but we never really get to know him as much as we learned more about Hobo Phoenix. I mean, Phoenix's character is shown through all three games, not just one.
So I really want GS5 to have complete control with Apollo. If Phoenix is in it, I want him to be a mentor, not the main playable lawyer. I want to learn more about Apollo; I want the next game's title to truly reflect that it's an Apollo Justice game, not another continuation with Phoenix's story. I want to see it this way; Apollo Justice games are going to be like Phoenix Wright games backwards. Here's what I mean:
In PW, you start off with being introduced to Phoenix and finding his complete backstory, etc. But at the last game, you find out about a past trial your mentor (Mia) could not fully solve herself (3-5), so you finally put all the pieces together.
In AJ, you start off with finding a little about Apollo, but you also find out about a past trial your mentor (Nick) could not fully solve, so you put the pieces together.
So hopefully in the next editions, we see more of AJ, and less of PW. Yes, I love Phoenix and his character, but I'm also liking Apollo. And I think he deserves some more screen time because we don't know his full characterization. I want to know more.
There's my spiel. Now, go and scream at me, if you want. I don't care because my opinion stands.

With AA we didn't really know Nick neither, now that a new lawyer is on the scene we keep trying to compare him to Nick, but Nick's had time to establish his own place in the AA universe. It's only natural a new guy wouldn't be able to compare especially since Nick takes up so much of his game.

In PW, you start off with being introduced to Phoenix and finding his complete backstory, etc. But at the last game, you find out about a past trial your mentor (Mia) could not fully solve herself (3-5), so you finally put all the pieces together.
In AJ, you start off with finding a little about Apollo, but you also find out about a past trial your mentor (Nick) could not fully solve, so you put the pieces together.
So hopefully in the next editions, we see more of AJ, and less of PW. Yes, I love Phoenix and his character, but I'm also liking Apollo. And I think he deserves some more screen time because we don't know his full characterization. I want to know more.

Very good points. I love Phoenix, but I like Apollo and want to know more about his story too
So would we know Apollo's FULL story until AJ 3?
I think the last trial (4-4) was a way of Nick passing the baton to Apollo, if you like.

It was finished back in 3-5, but now the writers have opened a new can of worms and shoehorned him into a major role in this story.
Yes, I would like to learn more about Apollo, his motivation, his actual background and why he choose his career. Maybe I'd actully like him more if they did this. The major reason people don't like Apollo is we know virtually nothing important about him, and for a guy like this to basically "replace" Phoenix got a lot of the older fans discouraged. It's like taking away a well-prepared pribe rib steak from someone, then shoving a frozen slab of beef in their face. The writers didn't even make any effort to develop Apollo's character at all, so it leaves older fans wondering why others expect them to immediately fall in love with this new kid and wish Phoenix would die.

I think some of them want Apollo to 'beat him'. This is less likely as a lawyer, but as a mere hobo, they think Apollo will be more able to have some symbolic triumph or something. Personally, I'm sick of the injustice and indignity the writers showed to Phoenix just because they seemed to resent bringing him back or they auctioned him up for the jury or something.

But Apollo didn't even 'replace' Phoenix, he just replaced poor Phoenix's dignity, relationships, and capacity to empower himself. Except Apollo himself didn't, he was kind of a, I don't know, strange plot device of the writers to allow the writers to do so, and they executed said unfortunate events on Phoenix so you could play as Apollo. It was really all handled very badly for both characters. That's why I don't think any 'mentor' relationship between them will work in the next game unless there are changes, like Phoenix at least being a lawyer again. And I think for the most part they have to be apart, so as to give a shred of dignity to both characters.

I wish people would stop using that 'argument'. The game in Japan was named Gyakuten Saiban 4 by the writers and does not reference Apollo in the title. [Of course, the previous arc was called Gyakuten Saiban 1-3 too.] I also wish people would stop thinking that it's not 'allowed' to have Phoenix in the same game as Apollo if Apollo is the 'main' char. Did anyone complain about playing as Mia in game 3 and keep insisting she go back to the Underworld and stay there?
