Oh yes. I've seen the radio plays. I've seen fans hunger for it.

What am I talking about?

VOICE ACTING!

Of course! As you know, the Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice series
are a heavily based "reading" game. Wouldn't it add more flavor if some parts were voice acted?

Just having the "OBJECTION!" or "HOLD IT!" or "TAKE THAT!" isn't enough. We need MOAR!!!

Okay, I know it would take the GS staff AGES to get actors and to read all the lines, especially since
this particular type of game is so word-orientated.

But wake up and look at the fan base for this series! It would add more depth to the characters, and more drama to the game as oppose to just
little elevator beeps when characters talk.

Okay, there are some issues.

1: Some fans may be disappointed if they don't like the voice of the characters.
2: Radio plays may be ruined because voice is WAYY off what everyone thought it would be.
3: As said before, it would take a HUGE amount of work for the GS staff to get every word in right and set.

Now, I've noticed when girl characters talk in Phoenix Wright, the "beeps" are higher pitched.
And when guys talk in Phoenix Wright, they're a bit lower.

Well, guess what? Everyone wants a change in GS5. Let's hope for the better!

Anyone agree?

The GS series is a series of visual novels. It wouldn't work, it would cost too much and wouldn't fit on a ds game card.

If Gavin ever returns to his rockstar roots, I'd love to hear a song by him with actual vocals.

Other than voicework in songs, I honestly don't have any dying urge to hear more of the characters' voices. I like being able to imagine what they sound like in my head. >_>

Personally, I don't think it would be possible, nor would it be better for the series to have voice acting. Part of the charm of the game is reading everything. It's an interactive novel. I think the 'OBJECTION!'s and everything of the sort are enough.

I mean, that's what makes the game special. If there were to be more voice acting to it, everything else would seem common place. As much as I'd love for the characters to have voices, I think it would ruin the series.

Yeah, I more or less agree with that, myself. Plus it keeps away the lazy people who can't be bothered to read anything. :butzthumbs: But

No, for reasons stated by others before.

If we really wanted voice acting, then we should just 'role-play' the actual script, voice acting of course, add it to talking sprites.... and make it into a video. :P

Besides, considering the poor quality of the English voice acting, voice acting would probably cause severe ear pain.

Especially to those of us who use headphones when playing the game (ie me)!

And I don't think you can get 5 (or more) cases on a DS cart, as well as having them all complete with voice acting.

Finally part of the fun (for me at least) is making up the voices of the characters myself (in my head, of course).

So personally, I'm against it.

As cool as it would be to having voice acting, I doubt they'd do it. They didn't even have a voice on the song in 4-3, when I felt like they should have added singing!

Its just promo....

And voice acting would make the game too similar to Phoenix DRIVE:

Another thing I'd hate would be that all the voices would be american (not that there's anything wrong with that, but the american announcer in Pokemon Battle Revolution really does my head in :zenitora:).

I don't think full voice acting is a great idea, it's nice but I would prefer it without.
I would, however, like for other characters to have a few phrases. E.g. When a witness or an assistant yells 'objection!' I would like it if they had a voice instead of just silence like they normally have. I think it would be nice if the Judge shouted 'Order!' as well. That's just me though.

A voiced song would also be great, I'm hoping for more musically themed cases in GS5except with less of the music videos.

I was going to make a video of that at one point, but I know nothing of the personality of everybody (Except for all of the characters in PW:AA) to make it for all of the games.

Besides, do you really want a Dick Gumshoe who sounds like Barney? And about 10 other guys with the same voice, and a high pitched Judge. I think not!

Besides, while looking at the characters section, the gamecard is full as is (which is why Grossberg has only two animations)

If five cases can fit on a GBA cart, I'm pretty sure they could fit seven or eight if they tried. DS carts can hold about eight times as much data as a GBA cart, if my ratios are correct.

I'd compare, but then I'd be talking about things that are against the rules. =\ And kinda offtopic.

I agree that it will never happen on the DS, but I could see this happening if they were to port the game over to a console, such as the Wii. I also agree that most of the time American voices suck, with the exception of maybe 2 animes I've seen. I wouldn't mind Japanese voices with english subtitles, that was until someone brought up a great point. Oldbag.... I'm pretty sure she's annoying in ANY language....

Full out voice acting dialogue CAN fit on the DS cartridge.

If you heard of Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side you would know what I'm talking about. (A dating sim for girls; its DS imports kept intact all the voice acting from their original versions minus a few lines that were added as new) That and Puyo Pop Fever's voiced cut scene lines in both English and the Japanese.

But even if they do bother, it's gonna be an issue since in truth they aren't using professionals on both sides of the Japanese and English team. If they can pull it off with a bit of training in how to act, sure.

Japan, though, is known for their wide range of professional and top quality voice actors and they can probably pull off another person who can sound similar to the "Objection!" sound clip unlike the massive difference in tone seen in the trailers, compared to the actual game's voice clip. America...well, the English team will have a problem.

I'm really undecided on the whole thing though.

I don't think it would work unless it was on a console or something, and I like it the way it is. Any voice acting they tried would probably end up as worse as NiGHTS' voice in the new game for Wii anyway.

Spoiler: T&T 3-5
And Dahlia's "scream" doesn't even qualify as a grunt IMO.

And I guess that's why in English trailers (where there was voice acting in the original Japanese trailer), they don't bother because they don't want to mislead the English players or rather, they don't have the standards to do that.

The problem with vocals in songs, mentioned above, is that if a character is supposed to be a great singer and you have some standard voice actor, it kinda ruins the mystique!

Same problem kind of happened with Klavier's "awesome" lyrics. Don't worry, I'd still be his drug-addled groupie waiting outside his hotel door though!

There would be a hell of a lot of voice acting needed and I don't think the DS cards can handle it! :grossburg:

Voice acting would only work if they made a GS game that focused on some kind of "not-so-linear" gameplay mechanics which would make a home console worthy title. For some reason a game like GS is completely unacceptable for consoles, but perfectly at home on a portable. Anyways, I like my GS just the way they are. As much as I'd like to see it on the Wii, I would rather see a similar or branch series with such changes, but leave my favorite main characters in the palm of my hand.

I think a good amount of voice acting can actually fit in a standard DS cartridge if they use the one with 128MB. Since the biggest AA games are 64MB in size, they can use the other 64MB for VA.

They could VO the climactic parts of the trial, and those opening scenes of each case. A song sung by Klavier would also be nice.

I don't know if it's possible, but maybe they can VO the most parts of the game using a 256MB cart(Only the important parts, though). The only DS game I know that has 256MB capacity is ASH, and it hasn't yet been released in NA so this is highly improbable(heck, the idea of VA is already highly improbable)

Of course, this is assuming that they WOULD do it and could find great voice actors for the characters.

i would be great but i know.
1 there isn't enough size for a ds cart no matter how bit but seemingh as the sizes are 64mb and the cart can take over 200 I think it migh be possible but you only be able to fit 3 cases in.
