(8/6/2014): *The planning for the prologue is (pretty much) complete. I'm starting to work out all the details of case 1 & 2 now. *Looking for a Co-Director for this project. *New Sprite in the Character section under "Fraser"!
Disclaimer: This game (currently in development) is an unofficial, non profit, fan-based parody.
We do not own ANYTHING from the Ace Attorney Intellectual Property We do not own Capcom or any of their affiliates We do not own FFSTV or any of their affiliates We do not own PWLib/AIGE, or KSA or any of their affiliates
We do not own anything but the original content we produce for this fan game (music, art, etc.)
(I'll continue to add to this post, I just wanted to post it as soon as I could.)
Game Info: Set in Canada (2016), you play as Fraser Agar, the host of the "hit new internet show" Video Games Awesome. He is a retired attorney who has to pick his badge back up and face the past in order to stop a mysterious criminal from terrorizing his fanbase. With his fans being charged for murder left and right, it's up to Defense Attorney Fraser, his mentor Vincent Husk, his paralegal Becky, local drunkard Detective Ben, the reliable witness Kyle, and a trustworthy former-prosecutor Deacon to find out who the true culprit is and put them behind bars. However, a greed-ridden rookie, Prosecutor Ruby Sterling, is willing to stunt his progress at any cost.
This is mainly meant to be more of a fun ride/love letter than a mind melting puzzle of serious legal espionage action and intrigue, however there will be some serious moments and (Hopefully) challenging cases.
Canadian law has never been this fun!
Spoiler: Team, What we need, & More Important Info

What We Have:
Planning for the main story (Over arching plot, villainous motives, etc.), The basics for most of the cases, although not everything is planned yet.
We also have some music tracks, and some preliminary sprite art if you scroll down some.
We don't have a lot (Mainly because I have been changing the story too many times. However, I'm sticking to the plot I have now.) You should still check out the Art and Music sections below at least.
What We Need Right Now (As of 8/6/2014):
We need to complete the planning phase (Starting on cases 1 & 2 at the moment) . I just need someone willing to help me out with that part of the project, since I don't always have the time.
What we need (General): Maybe one more spriter that can make good AA trilogy style sprites, People who are familiar with PWLib People who are familiar with FLStudio (Or other ways to make awesome music) that can create Ace Attorney-like songs (We can provide you with the soundfonts) We need artists for the different scenes in the game, as well as evidence, but that will come later. And People who can help write as well. (I hope I'm not being too vague. Maybe I'm just not too sure of what to ask for.)

I would like to see at least 2 examples of what you can do, if you have some.
If you feel like you have something you could add to the team, let me know.
I'll put up who has what job as time goes on here: theweirdomaxim (Music) baggageLizard (Music) theawesomematt (Writing) JoeyHugg (Sprites) IronicSalmon (Lead/Writer) NovaStar(Sprites) GavinnerRock (Editing)
Some Background: We have been planning to make this game for a few years now. The plot has changed quite a bit, and so have the people working on the game. I spent a long time trying to make a script / trying to plan everything out, but that resulted in stand stills and even more changes. I hope that we will be able to get even more people on the team to help out and finally move this project forward.
Inspiration: This whole thing was inspired (and is based on) the Let's Play live show Video Games Awesome and the group of people that keep it going (Farfromsubtle). As far as I know, this is the first Ace Attorney style fan game based off of real people. However, we don't intend to make completely accurate representations of the VGA crew nor do we intend to besmirch them in any way. I'm planning this game to be a love letter to them and the show (And Ace Attorney as well). Also, in case you were wondering, I did ask the main host of the show (Fraser) if this was ok WAY before I even made this post.
Possibly too many main characters None of the cases are fully planned yet (Working on it) Character motivations so far (Working on it) General Motivation to work on the game Team Morale
I'll add and remove things as I think of them.
WARNING: This fan game (As well as the show that it's based on) DOES/WILL contain material that many would consider to be offensive (Like Profanity, Alcoholic Beverages, Comedic References to Sexual Intercourse, etc.) If even the smallest mention of these things cause you to curl up like an Edgy near an earthquake, then feel free to leave your badge at the front desk and exit this post. But if you think you can handle the twists and turns of Canadian crime in the Ace Attorney universe, then you've come to the place.
We (The current "Turnabout AWESOME!" team) hope you enjoy the making of a very ambitious but hopefully awesome project inspired by really awesome people and one incredibly awesome video game series.
Farfromsubtle's "Video Games Awesome"
Spoiler: Basically an advertisement, but it has some good info about the show
If you haven't heard of the fantastic piece of work that is FarFromSubtle's "Video Games AWESOME!" (Or any of their previous works), then you're truly missing out on one of the internet's best group of entertainers out there. This casual gaming show has been pitted against titles like Heavy Rain, Telltale Games' The Walking Dead, and of course, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (As well as Justice For All, and recently Trials & Tribulations). All of their live shows are great, but the Ace Attorney Series is considered to be a staple of the show by the dedicated community of fans as well as the crew themselves. With Fraser at the helm and his co-hosts at his side... Yeah, you get it.
So before I continue, if you have never seen this show then go check out their website here:
On Video Games Awesome Live, the production quality is great. One of the best parts of the show is being able to see not only the game screen and the people playing, but also the chat room.
Every message in the chat shows up on the show, so as the show got bigger changes had to be made in regards to the chat system. Due to spoilers being presented in the court of "Everyone is welcome" chat, 2 chatrooms had to be formed in order to weed out the amount of people would spoiled games or were generally awful to deal with. Shadow Chat (Twitch.tv chat) and Turbo Chat, which can only be accessed by Turbo Club members.
The Turbo Club provides access to VGA's own chatroom, as well as different community servers for games like Kill Fun Yeah, Minecraft, Team Fortress 2 & more, as well as other perks. All this and more can be yours for the one time price of $50 (With a suggested annual payment of $50 to help keep the show running).
I can't think of anything else to
The Game Itself
NOTE: Nothing here is entirely final. Also, come back later for more characters
Spoiler: Characters (New Fraser Sprite by NovaStar)
NOTE: These characterizations are of my own design. While the characters are based on real people, whatever negative or positive information comes out of these descriptions are not necessarily true to the real life counterparts of these fictional characters and the characters are not meant to be an insult, critique, or otherwise to the people that they are based on.
What I'm trying to say:
Some of the characters in this game, while based off of real people, are ultimately fictional (Barring physical appearance).
Defense Attorney Fraser Agar:
The protagonist of the game. Works at Husk & Co. Law Offices under Vincent Husk, and along side Becky Blow. He's a bit brash and unlike Phoenix, Fraser can be pretty cocky when he's on a roll.
However, he isn't as reckless as he was in his days as a rookie. He thinks about his actions and is a pretty logical person. A bit more of a realist.
As you can see, he basically has Apollo's outfit but with those colors. However, his body should be a bit bigger than Apollo's, so for the sprites please don't just change Apollo's colors and leave the suit like that.
Becky Blow: (No art available yet) Fraser's girlfriend and assistant at Husk & Co. Law Offices. She's usually an optimistic person. She tends to have a very short term memory (Good justification for tutorials) and loves to collect things (especially coins). She tries to find the bright side in bad situations.
Vincent Husk: (No art available yet) A mentor and a close friend. He's a person who can get really determined and crafty when backed into a corner. He also isn't very good at planning ahead, but he tends win trials despite that. He uses everything at his disposal to get the right verdict. His most valued memento is his deceased father's law office.
Prosecutor Ruby Sterling: (No art available yet)
A rookie with a penchant for getting paid. Being an attorney is a job, after all. She also tends to make outrageous bets with other prosecutors on her own cases. However, the amount of challengers slowed down exponentially after her 2nd case, where she demolished a veteran defense attorney. Turnabout Expo (Listed Below) will be her 3rd time in court.
More characters coming soon.
Spoiler: Plot & Cases
Turnabout AWESOME! is about a retired attorney's return to the world of law.
Years ago, after taking down a local crime syndicate, Fraser Agar put away his badge and began working on a project that he always wanted to set up. Now, as the host of Video Games Awesome, Fraser has been gathering fans and a great amount of support. What those fans don't know, however, is how soon his past will be coming back to haunt them.
Someone is framing the Turbo Club members of murder!! It's up to the VGA crew to find out who their culprit is, as they go through 4 of Fraser's toughest cases yet, as well as 2 cases from his past. (The first case will be combined with a prologue case)
Prologue Case: T-T-T-Turnabout! Deacon destroys the studio by accident just before the new live show Fraser was preparing for that day. Deacon confesses that he saw a huge spoiler in the Turbo Chat for a game that they were all very excited for. Fraser decides that the culprit will be banned completely and stripped of their Turboship. However, Deacon reveals that he thinks it was one of the Turbo Chat moderators that said it, and that after Deacon fell the chat was cleared. It turns out that even the past logs from the chat were erased. Fraser trusts that his moderators wouldn't be the type to mindlessly spoil, so he defends the accused (Named "Aughts") with gusto.
Fraser gets stuck in the middle of the trial and falls back on his memories of his first trial to see if he can turn things around in the same way he did back then.
Case 1: The Cardinal Turnabout State vs Blow: Becky is blamed for murder?! With a notebook as the murder weapon?! In Fraser's very first case he has to defend his girlfriend from an impending sentence. With the help of his mentor, Vincent Husk, the court room will experience their first taste of true Canadian Justice.
This case holds the key to Fraser's victory in the Prologue. This is a flashback case.
Case 2: Turnabout Expo State vs "Entermuen": Fraser & Co. head for the states to meet their fans at one of the biggest gaming convention you have ever seen in your life probably. But during the festivities, the convention center goes up in flames and claims a victim! Now one of Fraser's fans, a man who prefers to stay in his cosplay costume, is framed for arson AND murder.
Case 3: Turnabout Dummy State vs Mour: The gang got tickets to a stage show from one of the fans (A witness of case 2) as a gift for their hard work. However, problems arise when the same man is sued by Emanuel Mour, a french man who claims that the act was his and his alone. Mour sues him for the theft of the trick. During a recess in the middle of the trial, the man is killed, and Mour becomes the prime suspect. With his original lawyer backing out of the homicide case, Mour may need a certain someone to replace him.
Case 4: The Indecent Turnabout State vs Husk: Vincent Husk is charged with indecent exposure, which somehow leads to murder. This is a flashback case.
Case 5: Turnabout's Ebb State vs "Judge": The Judge is on trial for murder, but he can barely remember a thing! Everything comes to a close.
Art So Far:
(We have some more, but I'll have to find them)
Spoiler: Fraser
"Is Frash Frash YOUR special someone?"
Spoiler: Backgrounds (Nothing yet)
Spoiler: Scenes (Nothing yet)
Music So Far:
We have 5 tracks on SoundCloud, including "Objection!". Check em out.
1. When you say he is "Unlike phoenix" does he still act like an Ace Attorney protagonist when they are the LEADING attorney (Sometimes cocky/shocked/disbelieving/sarcastic/the butt of the prosecution's jokes)?
2. Is case 5 is going to be one of those "long, epic, final cases? (like 1-5/2-4/3-5)"
3. Please tell me Frasher protagonist isn't going to question EVERY little unbelievable aspect of the case, because that make me very angry in the playthroughs so far...
Re: Turnabout AWESOME! (A VGA/Ace Attorney Fan Game)
@Blizdi 1. Well what I meant was that the aspect of being "pretty cocky when he is on a roll" was unlike Phoenix, not his entire character. While Phoenix does get snarky, he pulls himself together pretty quickly in contrast to my idea for Fraser (Although thinking about it now that would get pretty old really fast.)
But anyway, to fully answer your question, I do plan to have him fall into some of the things you described (The usual ace Attorney protagonist tropes)
2. I'll have to see. I can't say anything for sure right now, but I don't intend for it do drag (Or at least I hope it wont).
3. No, he wont question every single thing. That would take some of the fun out of game for sure. However, I do want to find a good balance between, say, never being in a jury trial and defending an orca whale. Fraser would definitely question the latter, for sure.
Re: Turnabout AWESOME! (A VGA/Ace Attorney Fan Game)
This sounds like a great project! I'll be willing to help work on it. More specifically, I can be an editor for the dialogue and help with the writing; that is, if you would allow me to join.

Sure! Just let me know in a PM the best way I can communicate with you and we could start setting something up. (Or you could reply here with the info, I guess. Whatever you're comfortable with. ) I appreciate the help!
EDIT: Or I guess I could just give you my Skype name... that makes more sense.
It's salmonofirony. I'll edit the main post as well.
Re: Turnabout AWESOME! (A VGA/Ace Attorney Fan Game)
Dude whenever he's on a roll and the pursuit music shows up, you should totally have his sprite do the frash-dance! If you want I can tell Farshar about this. I'm a turbo member. I go by the name StarburstUcha.
"Follow Your heart out of the darkness! Stand up and rise from the ashes! Back to the start, far from the madness. Come alive again! Break off the chains of hesitation! Your voice will be your salvation! Look to the light of liberation waiting at the end!"

The Frash dance would be awesome, yes. We'll see what we can do, but no promises.
Also, I asked Fraser for permission to do this a while back just to be safe, so he should know about it (Unless he forgot). You can tell him if you want, but I don't think you should remind him just yet since I'm trying to get the project back on it's feet basically and I don't really have a lot to show people.
Btw, high-five for Turbos, am I right? *a nice, high one*. I have the same name on the VGA forums.

Aww yeah! Cool, I'll say hi if I see you around. If you want I can help write it. I've been told I'm pretty good at writing.

Re: Turnabout AWESOME! (A VGA/Ace Attorney Fan Game)
Brand new update for your viewing pleasure in the main post!
If you don't feel like scrolling up, here's the rundown:
*The planning for the prologue is (pretty much) complete. I'm starting to work out all the details of case 1 & 2 now. *We picked up a dialogue editor! Welcome to the team, GavinnerRock! *New Sprite in the Character section under "Fraser"! *Currently I would like to get 1 more artist, 1 more musician, and at least 2 more people on the writing team.
Thank you. I hope to have more frequent updates in the future.
Re: (NEW UPDATE) Need A Co-Director For Turnabout AWESOME!
Basically I need at least one person to help me oversee and plan out the rest of the cases. I need another pair of willing and dedicated eyes to challenge what I have so far.
You don't have to have watched the show, but if you haven't you should be willing to at least.
I'll be updating more of the main post this week.
Re: (NEW UPDATE) Need A Co-Director For Turnabout AWESOME!
I love VGA. I can't say I've seen all of their LPs, but I have seen the more popular ones (and yes, I've seen their Ace Attorney series)
If by "plan out" you mean that I can proofread, help you get through possible plotholes, give suggestions, and give you an idea on whether an idea you have is good or not, I can do that. I won't be writing anything for you, though
Unfortunately, I'm not a turbo member

hmm.. I'm willing to help you in this part..
That's sounds great! I'll message you guys individually. We MIGHT have picked up another editor, but I'm still hashing things out with them.
Re: (PENDING) Need A Co-Director For Turnabout AWESOME!
Still figuring out the Co-Director thing, but progress on the planning is coming along. Cardinal Turnabout is being scripted and the Prologue planning just needs to be revised before it's ready for scripting.
We're also working on drafts for Cornered at the moment, but the main focus is the writing and planning. You may not see much visually for a little while, but I'll start doing a new test run (Maybe with an old version of the script) with PWLib and show that.
Also, it would be pretty cool to use PWLib BASIC, a version of PWLib being modified by Rayaj to make the engine more accessible. I'm not saying that I'll be using it indefinitely, but it would be great to see that project in action soon and get some hands on experience with something that can get more people into PWLib Case making.

KSA approved on implementing it, but I think he plans to create one once the demand of using it goes high.. and at this rate.. i don't know mine is working but not advisable to share with others yet, still not user friendly... i'll share it once the I finished working on the generators.
