AIGE doesn't have yet a "force software mode". His video card fails to load on Hardware Mode, so AIGE tries Mixed Mode. That failing, it tries Software Mode.

I did the "render mode selector" for the config (now you can tell aige to start in Software mode).
Also the config.cfg won't enforce the order of the lines anymore.

In the internal section, I changed the way the object points are created.

I redid the Graphic Engine Initialization (may be faster to load).

And one thing I forgot: the config.cfg list of properties:
screenwidth and screenheight: leave as it is. Controls the size of the window.
textrendermode: Accelerated or Simple
textureloadmode: Normal or Pow2
foltering: Never, Always or Automatic
logging: Disabled or Complete

The command for Render Mode will be:

Also officially the pow2 bg versions were added. Maelstorm, please add a test script. I intend to make a PWLib tester command.

Testing PWLib mainly, to see if when i change code on pwlib/AIGE, the bgs keep working, for example. If in pwlib 1.0a i ran the mirelle.hlsl test file over the new exe I would have seen the skake bug AIGE had.

Just a thought for the future KSA, are there any plans to make it so when you have a complete game you can package all the contents into a single EXE or something along those lines? For the end-user to play obviously. Just thinking it would be a good idea, however I don't know how feasible that is.

I was working on something like that using either IEXPRESS (included with Windows XP/Vista) or including a package file/MakeNSIS.

Ultimately I'm going to see if I can somehow get only the files I need (maybe with some kinda command-line option from AIGE), but until then... Still working: first beta will probably be IEPXRESS SED script.

IEXPRESS is out - it only allows one file with each filename. Also: NSIS supports better compression methods.

Just one informer: http://www.ksatechnologyhq.com is down due to a massive network issue with Telefonica in Brazil (I can't even connect at home).

I don't plan to do the single exe a la MMF2.

Oops - I apologize for the virus warnings (getting those on my AIGE-play PC too): it's probably because I'm using various installer functions. That is not the latest version of the packager, I'll upload the latest one to VirusTotal, then to my site in a sec.

I thought it was something like that @ lukegb, was just checking to confirm it. I'll test it in a bit.

Edit: It works, although it didn't play any sound on the "take that" from Phoenix himself (not sure if that's because you didn't add it however). Also, the "take that" animation itself wasn't normal, it just sort of.. appeared. Other than that, it worked fine.

The exe that shipped with pwlb 1.0a has a bug with shake effect. I already fixed it in the current exe I'm working.

The appearance is because of a known bug in the exe I used to build the package - PWLib itself isn't included in the builder - just the script file to build it along with the NSIS packager are included. This means that whatever version (and settings) you have set, will be the version used in the built exe.

I do realize this may not be ideal for everybody (e.g. text render) - that is still being worked on.

EDIT: More info
My packager will include any and all files beginning with pw_ and ending with .HLSL in the pwlib/ folder. It will also automatically include all .PNG files in the PW/ folder (recursing automatically though sub-directories) and include all .WAV files in the sounds/ folder. At present, all scripts must be located in the auto/ folder. It will automatically include any .HLSL files in that folder.

NOTE: Extensions are case-insensitive. Uppercase was used for simplicity.

Update:
I'm working on a new exe that will contain the ErrorHandling confguration. For now, the exe reports invalid parameters.:
like using message(12);

It'll be a MAJOR update to AIGE and PWLib development.

I'd hate to delay your amazing progress on this, but I have a couple of questions regarding this amazing program, and hopefully somebody here can help me.
First of all, is the placefade function broken for "O"? I am trying to fade a background to black, but no matter what I try, the background always goes to black instantly.

Things like:
setbg(70011);
placefade("","bg",30,"I");
Works for fading in a picture from a black background, but I can't seem to figure out how to fade out correctly.

Also, is there a way to alter the background of the bottom screen?
I'm basically working on an intro movie and would like to be able to stretch a large picture across both screens or atleast apply a background to the bottom screen.

KSA_Tech, I've tried many case makers, and yours is by far my favorite. If there's anything I could help you with, be it reporting errors, mistakes on the tutorial, or simply words of encouragement, I'll be around for this. This was my first post, for only this thread interests me. ><

The fade is bugged in the exe that shipped with pwlib 1.0a. I just fixed it.

You can use the bg itsef for a large image, just using setbgsize(w,h); to set the size of the bg. Make sure that the lower window is all hidden (use the general hide function for example) and then resize the bg.

Just pointing out, if you didn't already know this, that the size and height you need to use are in config.cfg. I think you'll need to set it back again afterwards...

Posting issues help me a lot into making AIGE work on more computers and also to stop bugs I did not see on release.

Asking, posting errors you find on the book, all helps to make a greater engine and to archive a better quality on PWLib.

I've been creating The First Turnabout using PWLib to personally get a better understanding of the program.
What's even better is, if I successfully make it, I could release the code for other people to study!
Hence, I needed to know how to stretch the background size for my makeshift intro movie.

Is there yet a way to make the background slide? For example, on a 256x192 screen, it shows the bottom half of a 256x384 picture, and it slides to the top half.

And more importantly, to accomplish my experimental episode, I need a sprite for Larry Butz, as well as Frank Sahwit.
I've only read through the first 19 pages of this thread, so I'm not sure if anybody is working on either of those two, but
if nobody is working on them, I would love to do them myself. I've already started on Larry, and have gotten skilled at adding sprites to the game.

There is a way to make things slide. Whether or not that results in you having to manually create a "gen_obj" to keep it from only sliding the top screen or whatever I don't know.
