I had tab not work at the start of the case, but at some point it started working, and then I couldn't click the CR button. I don't remember this bug being there before... But it might have been there and just not been encountered ;) Thanks for the input btw!

I'm playing it at the moment. One thing: G. Strings' collar is transparent, but that's easily fixed.

Love his character, btw.

Thanks for all the nice comments about G.Strings and the little sketch at the beginning (you should really thank Bad Player for that one, the idea was mine but he delivered it perfectly). And saluk, I really wish it could feel like an official case. It doesn't right now, but I'm really flattened that you say it has the potential.

I have both good and bad news.
The bad news is that I had a nasty computer virus, which explains why I didn't answer on this topic the last few days.
The good news is that it's all fixed now, and that no TS files were lost.

Now...
I'm absolutely terrified by some of what you're saying.
Obviously, I must have made some terrible mistakes when preparing / uploading the files, because people are having problems I don't have on my computer.
For instance, I have always been using the AJ backgrounds... Fortunately, I think I know what the problem is. I have put the right court backgrounds in .../ts_demo2/art/bg/aj (with the wrong names, so it can't work) but not in TSdemo2/art/bg.... That's kind of stupid of me. I was certain I had done it and checked it multiple times, but that's obviously not the case.
As for Rhea, I still don't understand why she doesn't appear. What do you think, saluk?

All Rhea's lines in court are said by the person before, and I checked the code. Rhea's not in the code at all.

And the background problem makes sense, because I downloaded the file then just copied the TS game into my PyWright, deleting everything else :P

i can't get any farther in the demo. i've gotten all the evidence i need, talked to everyone, now i need to go back to the detention center to talk to Chambers but that guy in Ping''s avatar is there and preventing me from talking to him.

Did you get the gun as evidence? When I played it, I couldn't get the gun unless I got it before I got the blood stains...

@Ping I just checked and in the scripts it definately says set _helper Rhea
and every time she should say something it says "helper"

maybe a scroll needed to be put there?

Every time rhea talks I see her just fine... I'm using the demo as first released. I suspect it has something to do with the court macro, but I'm not sure. If I load a saved game during court, everyone appears in one space, which is really weird, but I don't think this is what people are talking about. It could be a timing issue, but I'm kind of at a loss.

Yes, I am working on this one. It's a puzzler. Most likely the problem is the saving rather than the loading. For now you will just have to suffer through weirdness until testimony starts again, or until the scene changes. Best time to save is when it shows rhea right before a testimony restarts.

Excellent job with this, it was rather entertaining. Good job with the sprites. I hope they'll be animated eventually. I did encounter several problems, but most of them were no doubt that of the casemaker, and not yours. The occasional typo here and there and the occasional confusing moment, but uh... That's about it. *played it like a week ago and can't remember much else >_>* Anyway, this is awesome for a demo/beta/whatever. I approve. :edgy:

I can, however, change everything from mp3 to ogg, but that would require to change the script each time the music is called. Maybe if I find the time...

Apollo isn't so much mean in this scene as he is drunk. That's also why he's not really making any sense.
Most people dislike this scene, but I won't change it, no matter how many times people talk about it. I have my reasons.

Btw G. strings right half is transparent. His collar i mean. You may want to fix that.

Uhh.. Yeah. Loading the games makes all the sprites fuse during a testimony. Solution? I really don't want to do all that crap again...

If you go through the testimony to where it repeats, the sprites rest to the right positions. It is a pain, but there are enough spots at which the sprites reset that I was able to play through the game over a period of 4 or 5 save/loads and still understand what was going on.

TODAY I will be releasing a patch that fixes this problem (as well as most others), but I cannot fix a broken save.

Thanks to Ping' for continually uncovering flaws in my casemaker and broadcasting them to the world :)

All right, I got around to playing the 2nd demo all the way through, and I was rather impressed. Graphically, it was an improvement, with a proper full body Judge Chambers and your original prosecutor, and an animated sprite of that guard, Sam Fisher. I guess you're already aware that young Strings has a transparent collar problem. Story-wise, it was also great, spoilers withheld. There were things I saw coming, and things I did not see coming. In the area of spelling, there were few errors, though I'm certain that you misspelled "schol," if my memory serves. Overall, looks good, looking forward to day 2.

By the way, I am flattered to be called a "great fangame maker." I would like to return the compliment, for you are certainly a "great fangame maker" as well, if not more so.

SaraVera: I think MrCheeze wants a smaller download version that doesn't include any music, so that it is not such a pain to download. This is not a bad idea. Another idea is to use .mid files, although they can not work right on some computers (and don't sound so great in any case).

I've updated the engine! It should fix the saving bug (from now on, saving won't ruin the position of characters). It wont fix a save that is already corrupt in this way. You will have to play your saved game to a point where the characters are reset, and then save there. Fortunately, the characters are reset fairly frequently, especially at the beginning of all of the cross examination sequences.

Another relevant fix is the addition of the helper to the court macro in the core. If you copied the game to your main pywright directory instead of using the engine that comes with the demo, you should be able to see Rhea now.

The Apollo backgrounds problem cannot be fixed without a small update to the demo, the path to some of the backgrounds are wrong in the game's source files. I think Ping will put out a patch soon that will fix that.

The testimony blinker should be limited to cross examinations now. No longer will Rhea give an extra statement to the testimony.

Finally, the tab button should work again.

As always, the engine will try to update automatically the next time you run pywright.exe/pywright.py (from your pywright installation, or your Apollo Case 5 demo 2 folder). To get all of the changes, it is recommended to restart the engine after the update finishes, as some files cannot be updated while it is running.

Okay it looks like it would be a lot faster at this point to just download it anyway, but you should still consider a no-music or super-compressed music version.

Apparently it is possible to use a program called VGMTrans to get high quality mod music, but (surprise, surprise) the program doesn't work on my computer. Also you need a registered version of some program.

No, of course I'd thought of that, but it needs to perfect, and I have zero confidence in my ability to work with gimp, even for simple stuff like that.
So I basically know I need to ask someone to do it, I'm just not sure who.
The other thing that bothers me with it is that it would require to put out yet another patch... so all things considered, I might as well want to re-upload the demo, with all the fixes, and even, perhaps, compressed music.

Here are some news...
* Lind_L_Tailor is now part of the team. He will be helping with sprites / evidence.
* the detailed script for investigation day 2 is progressing... slowly (as I said, I'm working this month, so I can only count on week-ends to do stuff). I still don't know who the dialogue writer for that part will be.
* even with the background database I have, I still can't seem to find the necessary backgrounds / backgrounds editors.
