Alternatively, try using the auto folder. Any file .txt or .hlsl put in there is automatically included.

That's odd... I moved it to the auto file and now AIGE automatically shuts down.

EDIT: Yes now even when I take it OUT of auto and download a completely new AIGE it gives me the "Anime Image Game Engine has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." message.

The file you need to put on the auto folder is the tuto one.

The startup.aigehls must stay on the scripts folder.

But you can run other pwlib game like Damion Shard?

I understand what you're saying and no startup hasn't moved at all.

And that's actually a pretty good idea. I'll see if I can get other games to work before I try out mine.

Perhaps it would be best if you just zipped and uploaded your PWLib foler in it's entirety. That way we would be able to tell you exactly what you are doing wrong (if anything).

Except the PW folder, for size sake.

Nimbus is right. Sometimes it is a simple issue and we are thinking it is something major.

True. But as for now I just deleted the whole thing, downloaded it again and now I'm just trying to get the demo to Daimon Shard to work.

Only problem is I can't figure out how to get the step by step to work.

Quote:
Step 1: Extract pwlibhayase1.1core.

Step 2: Extract pwlibgfx2.0 onto pwlibhayase1.1core.

Step 3: Extract Damion Shard Demo U3 onto pwlibhayase1.1core.

This'll sound REALLY n00bish but... yea I can't find pwlibhayase1.1core anywhere. Unless they refer to the core FOLDER but... well I just can't wrap my head around it.

This sounds like what I dealt with back in November when I transfered PWLib to my new computer. The problem I had was a missing .dll file. I think that might be the problem.

Wait a minute! I had this exact same issue before, and it just popped up for me all of a sudden, after working fine. Darn, I can't remember what caused it at the moment... Or I might have been experiencing a different issue...

If the full Damion Shard Demo I posted works, that might resolve the issue. If not, I'm not sure.

I remember having that problem once.

When I was coding Ralldan Mynder's animations for my fangame ("Ralldan Mynder: Ace Attorney", for those new), a whiiiiile back, I think it was my first character coding, I miswrote just ONE line in the Normal animation (accidentally changed the "Ralldan_Normal" in a "insertanimationframe" or "setanimationframetexturecoordinates", don't remember which one, to a "Mattador_Normal"), and, when I tried to open AIGE, it didn't even open and gave me that "AIGE has encountered a proublem and needs to be closed" message. When I located the elusive typo and fixed it, everything worked perfectly back again.

But, aside from that, PWLib since 1.1 worked as a charm to me.

The thing is, DragoonDarkfire has that issue right at the start. That means s/he couldn't have a code so messed up it would turn out crashing AIGE. That remains a mistery.

It is automatically setup to execute a script and has all of the things you will require (Even the Emergency Fix for the Case Selection). So install this and run AIGE, if it works. You're good to go and edit game.hlsl if not, then there is some issue between your computer and AIGE.

The timeline to find the source of the issue:

1) Get PWLib (core and gfx) and depack it.
2) Run aige.exe
If "AIGE needs to close" or similar error appear, dll missing or ms redist not installed.
If "Couldn't jumping...", AIGE works on the pc, but is missing a file with the game function. Go to next step.
3) Create a file .hlsl on the auto folder. (possibly test.hlsl)
4) On the test file, put this:

[game]
waitresponse();

5) Run AIGE.exe again. The window should be black with a red text on the top right (the FPS counter).
At this stage, AIGE worked on your pc.

6) Change the test file to:

#include(pwlib/pwlib.hlsl)

[game]
runscript("pw_initpwlib");
waitresponse();

7) Save and run AIGE.exe again.

PWLib should start loading, and once it's done, it will stop.
If any error happen here, let me know.

Now you can follow the tutorials.

Be sure to check for typos. They kill.

Note: this is meant for anyone having issues.
DragoonDarkfire, use the solution DDRKhat posted just in case.

Open Notepad (or its equivilent). Go to File-->Save As. Under "Save As Type", select "All Files". Then, under "File Name", type the name of your file and put .hlsl on the end of it.

It isn't obligatory to use .hlsl files for AHLSL scripts. You can use .txt, or even .tqwsgssbja, as long as the name and extension on the #include is correct.

It is like making a C program. You save as .c, but you doesn't need to necessarily, but you do to quickly find your files.

I personally recommend using .hlsl to keep your code in order, but if you're having issues, try saving to .txt. It will work the same.

Or said in a simple fashion.
The file extension HLSL isn't mandatory, but it can help you organize your files.

What could possibly help you is turning off the Windows option "Hide extension for known file types".
With a folder open, click Tools, then Folder Options. Then in the window that spawns click the "View" tab. and straight away you should see the option at the bottom of the list (ticked) untick it, and click apply. hope this helps!

Note about Unicode support on AIGE 0.9.800a (and PWLib Mio 1.2):

The support bases itself on the file been saved as UTF-8, and the proper Unicode Range to be configured at the config.cfg file, under the [unicode] section.
There is only one version of AIGE and PWLib, not multiple versions. All that will be needed is to configure the engine correctly as explained before. You will be able to mix languages (as shown in one post earlier) indiscriminately.

By default, PWLib 1.2 will ship with unicode disabled (since most users simply use English, that supported by the ASCII-Extended mode).

To enable it, editing the config.cfg will be required (an easy task).

Open config.cfg.
Go to the [unicode] block.
Change the use=false to use=true
Put set1=BasicLatin
Put set2=Latin1Supplement
Save.

Eg:
[unicode]
use=true
set1=BasicLatin
set2=Latin1Supplement

Open your game file, write the messages in german. Save as UTF-8.

Once you play, the text you added will be correctly displayed.

Done with setting up German support.

Note: I need to check if the PW Extended font supports most unicode basics sets. In case the font doesn't, the chars won't show. One font that does support is Arial Unicode (I use this to demo the multi-lang pic some posts ago).

Some news that explain my relative absense on CR:

- (AIGE) Revamped reporting functions.
- (AIGE) Added structs to AHLSL (structs are packs of variables you can define as a type and use as a normal variable).
- (AIGE) Added Pixel and Vertex Shaders, as well support for .fx Effect Files (Pixel shaders can be used to do the greyscale and other texture effects real time, similar to what AHLTL does, but require support on the video card.)
- (AIGE) FX Effect system integrates with AHLSL variable system at basic level. (This allows to pass values to the fx effects).
- (AIGE) Added Collision System based on any shape polygons.
- (AIGE) Text Objects now are able to use unicode and align. All align codes valid for the message box work for the text objects.
- (AIGE) AIGE properly recognizes UTF-8 files and load them accordingly.
- (AIGE) Revamped config.cfg.
- (AIGE) Buttons have text labels that can be used, and aligned accordingly.
- (PWLib) Added 2 extra characters for the developer to use.
- (PWLib) Reorganized part of the code and separated over various files, allowing easier updates.
- (PWLib) Revamped loading core.
- (PWLib) Added the extensions idea, allowing PWLib to be extended easily, and as well integrating to the loading routines.
- (PWLib) Created the Mikumo Extension for Gyakuten Kenji Features.
- (PWLib) Added "darken" functions to darken the screen easily (except the characters and above).
- (PWLib - Mikumo Extension) Added Logic System, as well Logic showing. The Logic System allows defining the matching pairs easily.
- (PWLib - Mikumo Extension) Added the walking part of Gyakuten Kenji, all with scrolling map and collisions. Parner following is completed too.
- (PWLib - Mikumo Extension) Added the Partner Lower Screen, integrated with Logic and finished the Movement TouchPad.
- (PWLib - Mikumo Extension) Integrated Partner Button with the Parner Talk Screen (Partner Talk Screen under work by now).

Yes, some of the Gyakuten Kenji features are already present on PWLib 1.2. Mainly the main ones: Walking and the Logic System.

I'll post some pics as I get home.

You cna do psychelocks with 1.1, but there's no animations for the chains. On 0.9.800a I fixed an issue with animations that prevented 700a from having the psyche locks solution I made for PWLib 1.2.

So, 1.2 does have full, complete working Psyche Locks with all GFX needed. In 1.1, you only miss the animations.

I think it'd be better if you just translated the CR button, which would take a couple of minutes...

The idea of those images I strongly believe, was to demonstrate the functioncality, rather than the graphical representation. Not bad considering the game hasn't been released and we merely have a flash demo to rip from. (Of which I refuse to play)
