By the way, I just checked the script of the scene in the cell, and didn't notice any mistake that could explain the problem you and Ptapcc had ;(

I don't think it's a problem with the script to be honest. Maybe a bug with Pywright? It only happened when I first downloaded TS and played it. The second time was fine.

There is code to disable the present button, I'm not sure if you used that code or not. It's possible to turn it off and then due to how the script jumps around have it not get turned on again. I don't think you used this code though.

I looked in the pywright source to see if that code is somehow getting turned on, but I haven't had much luck. I'll have to dive deeper and try to reproduce the error. Could you tell me exactly which spot this is happening at the game so I can jump to that spot?

I have only seen it occur when I first downloaded Turnabout Substitution and played it. After the button has disappeared, I had to restart the game. It was there from then on. And it's not the Present button that has disappeared. That one is there but when you get into the function itself, the new present button (the Pywright version) is there. Does that make sense?

Er, not really? Which button is disappearing? There is the (examine present move talk) present; the present in the court record itself to actually show the evidence (this is the one I was referring to); do you mean the big continue button on the second screen wont show during present...

vonFielder said he was unable to present evidence, I assume this means the button from court records to show evidence is not appearing.

Whoops. It was the Present in the court record itself to actually show the evidence. I had the same problem as vonFielder.

Progress update ! (it's been a long time since the last one)

The coding of the third demo has now officially started!
7 scenes out of 26 have been (more or less) done on PyWright already, with more to come soon.

(Also, 400 posts + 7000 views already! That's not bad, though it's nothing compared to what this topic is going to be like one year from now :D)

EDIT: We're now at 10/26.

EDIT: 11...

EDIT: If I am to believe my coders, we're now at 21/26 scenes in which most of the hard work has already been done.

Hey there.

Just to announce that given our team's current level of progress, you can probably expect the third demo to be released two weeks from now.

- The coders have apparently done most of their work. One has finished her part, one has 1 scene left to do, and one has (if he's not bluffing) 1/2 scenes left to do, without most variables.
They should have all completed their parts sometime this week, even if it's only the text at this stage (the sooner the better). Of course, that doesn't depend on me... but that's what I want to happen.
- Regarding graphics, all the evidence is done, but some editing is needed on 2-3 sprites and 2 bgs. We'll need to accelerate and make these our priority, but I'm confident two weeks will be enough to do it.
- There will then be tons of little adjustments to make: fixing some of the dialogue & adding some animations to the first two parts, converting all music to .ogg, and most importantly, making sure that I haven't forgotten any of the files and that the overall script is coherent. It'll be quite intense work, but shouldn't take that long.
- Finally, several beta testers will test the whole thing.

By the time most of you have finished AAI, the third demo will probably be ready for release.
Of course, this can all happen faster or slower than what I'm predicting. Consider this our middle scenario.

As we approach the release, you may find screenshots and other tidbits to keep you waiting.

For now, all I can say is: expect 4h-4h30 of gameplay, shocking twists, and loads of character development.
And for those who've already played the first two demos...
Spoiler:
In many ways, Turnabout Substitution is actually two cases forming one. The real plot starts now.

So I played the demo, and I must say... Wow! Its amazing!

I know you people are being praised a lot already, but still... everyone's so in character, the sprites are very well done, and the plot is great! I already like this case more than all of the original AJ cases! :keiko:

Looking forward to the next demo!

Well, all I can say is that all music will now be .ogg instead of .mp3. It's the only thing I can personally do about it.
Believe me, I'd really like all mac users to have the same experience as the others.

The problem is I don't have a real mac to test on. I did package it with an older version of pygame (the library responsible for the sound) - it's possible that the problem can be fixed by updating that. I'll see what I can do, but it's hard to test without a mac. If someone with a mac were to volunteer to work with me for a couple hours sometime this or next weekend I could maybe work through it and get sound going.

I can help with that randomjiberish :)

What I'm probably going to need, is for you to get the source version working, and then I'll probably have to make some changes with you testing it until sound works. Then I can guide you through the packaging process. I think there is a way I could take over your computer (if you would allow it) if we get really stuck.

Update to signal that the release date of demo 3 is now estimated to be anywhere from February 28th to March 7th.

Therefore, we will soon need beta testers.
Aside from Nose, who will automatically be able to beta test if he wants to, and all the members of the team with access to the team's forum, who will have the opportunity, but no obligation, to play the demo before it comes out...
I am recruiting 2-3 specialized beta testers. Ideally, one will concentrate on typos, one on bugs, and the third one will have a more general assignment, which will help make sure the first two haven't missed anything obvious.

You can apply by posting in this topic, but bear this in mind: being a beta tester is not just like watching the preview of a film. It's also a responsibility. This means beta testers will have two days to send me a full report on the problems they've encountered playing the game. One unreliable person is enough to delay the release of the demo by several days, so please, only apply if you're sure you can do it.

So, any volunteers? :)

Random, did you get my PM? Really like to fix mac sound for this next demo.

Ping, your releases always seem dangerously close to PyWright releases. I'll try to get mine out by the 27th, giving you at least a little bit of testing time. I don't forsee any major compatibility issues with the upgrade, but of course it is always the issues unforseen that are most interesing :will:

Sounds good, I'll try and Beta test it to a better standard than last time, a lot of my reports were quite vague last time (not giving the specific lines of text and whatnot).

The only issue that may arise is my location, I'm currently living in a flat with (what I believe to be) a shared IP. This is a non-issue most of the time, but it can (and often has) prevented me from downloading due to other people in the flats downloading huge files.
That said, I can probably just pick a uncommon time to download or use a proxy to avoid the problem.

The coding of demo 3 is pretty much complete. Some small changes have to be made here and there, but other than that, only the evidence file is left to do.

Beta testers will be needed quite soon, so if you wish to apply, now's the time!

I'd sign up for beta-testing if I wasn't apart of scripting the game and according to your comment before, I'll get to play it along with everyone else on TS/Ace Fancase ;)

I'm so excited Ping' till it is released.

Those screens are awesome and I love Snow! Her dialogue when I was coding her was hilarious and...Ceres is so awesome. That introduction scene is something he should be really, really proud of.

Spoiler: crucial revelations. Not
Said it multiples times though, it's done on purpose, because he's drunk (and it's not just an unnecessary detail). I'm pretty out of character when I'm drunk, too, you can ask my friends.
If you want to know exactly what I did, it's simple. I kept pretty much the same dialogue (except for this particular line) and added a clear, unmistakable sign that Apollo isn't sober.

Some news...

The third demo is finished, and is currently being beta tested.

Unfortunately, we've run into issues related to the newest version of PyWright, which may delay the release a bit.

I hope you'll be able to stand waiting a bit longer, knowing the demo is completed.

Thank you very much :)
