Update notification:
Audiere 1.9.4 has a memory leak bug. This leads to AIGE not releasing memory when playing an sfx/music.
If you're using PWLib 1.1, download the fixed Audiere dll on PWLib's Site:
http://www.ksatechnologyhq.com:1357/mainsite/pwlib

PWLib 1.2 and AIGE 0.800a will ship with the fixed dll.

Any one who understands the concept of sprites into PWLib (Dematador, Attorneyatlawl and KSA_Technology), could I get some help. I don't understand the concept and at the moment, I'm working on something important.

Spoiler:
I'm working on ShadowEdgeworth's AAO ME: AA Case 1 conversion to PWlib however he uses some sprites that were fan created and reading the tutorial, I don't understand how to make them work. They are GIF Animated files of Grossberg defence and Front Payne sprites so if you can help, reply and I'll pm the link to you.

Thanks (and I hope this goes here.)

Rather than making them, I prefer teaching you how to do it.

Shoot me a PM with what you don't get from the tutorial, or up to where you got, and I'll give you a hand.

The problem with using gifs is that giflib is so badly documented that I can't the inter-frame time. If I could get that, it would be easy to make an animation generator from gifs (and even output a gif to animation file).

News
- (AIGE) Added a command that outputs an animation code based on a gif file (can be used with the sheets generated by the giftosheet).
- (AIGE) Added (experimental) working command that creates an AIGE Animation from a gif file. (this means that AIGE can use gifs directly).

Animation Directly From GIF
A) Pros
- No animation coding needed

B) Cons
- Solid to gif frame structure (delays are as on gif file)
- Multiple duplicated frames
- Slower creation then normal animation method

EDIT: And I apologize for going to Pywright however ShadowEdgeworth and I were still working with Pwlib. Only that version of ME: AA was on temporary hold due to the sprite issues.

That is because unfortunately there is no universal standard when it comes to GIFs. There is like 4 different ways you can get the desired animation effect. However if you are looking at having a GIF animation turned into a character animation for PWLib, DeMatador does have a topic where he takes these requests (Or you could PM him).

Also for other people who might need sprites, just let me or DeMatador know.

After next day 8, I will be free from university (last test), so I might after that quickly finish PWLib 1.2 Demonstration Game and start the Beta.
Also, I'm thinking on making a series of classes about PWLib and some advanced stuff on AIGE.

Oh I see. That's unfortunate then however hopefully in the future, there will be a change when it comes to GIF Images or something similar is released, though I'm not an expert on graphics and frames so, I'm not too sure.

GIF is a very old format (the latest revision is from 89). It was good back on the old days of the internet where we had 56k (and even slower) modems since they are small.

AIGE can generate the frames out of gifs (and now even the animation skeleton), so I think it is easier to use gifs directly as a base.

The PWLib 1.2 Feature Demonstration Game will demonstrate all features that PWLib has (separated by cases).
The classes idea was something i had some time ago, but ended up not doing it. It would help people to understand how to use pwlib and see more of what it can do.

Finally, my university assigment is over, so I can concentrate on AIGE and PWLib.

It will take a few days for me to organize what needs to be done before some progress can be made. I have tons of ideas for AIGE (some that might affect pwlib, some that not), as well for PWLib itself.

The Beta Sign In is still open, so there's still time to enter the selection list if you want to try the Beta.

In the meantime, I'm starting a small "contest". PWLib 1.2 Mio Series doesn't have a logo (PWLib has one, but I think that it needs a new version).

The contest is basically:
- Making a new logo for PWLib (a generic one, targeted for all PWLib versions). This will be the official PWLib logo.
- Making a new logo for PWLib Mio Series (using Mio on the logo). This second logo will be used on 1.2.

As for "prize" for the best two logos:
- Be part of the Beta Test (as pre-selected).
- Probably some early release testing of PWLib 1.2.

Entries can be posted on the topic, or PM-ed to me. I might open a submission page on the KSA Technology HQ site.

It's good to see you back, KSA. As much as I'd like to see how PWLib 1.2 fares, it would require me switching to a new system, switching back, and the switching again when it's released. I'm just gonna wait for the full 1.2 release.

Anyways, while I was working on ROTP again today, I thought of something:

- The parameter setting on examines does become easier over time, but guessing parameters and testing is quite difficult, especially once the game gets larger and you have to sit through the rest of your game before even getting to test that area.

What I'm suggesting is...

Taking any PW background, and creating a simple, small grid on top of it. From there, write in the X and Y parameters for the areas of the grid, so people have a simple overview and can easily guess about where to place their examine boxes.

Hopefully someone can do this, I may need it soon too!

Can't wait for PWLib 1.2!

Using PWLib 1.2 to develop using the 1.1 book won't require any changes.

As I did with AIGE (AHLSL) and PWLib, new versions are compatible with old code. There isn't that issue of "missing command abcd on new version".

As far as I tested, all 1.1 games run smoothly on 1.2 without any single change.

The only change needed is to enable saving to work properly.

It's good to hear that no changes will be made from 1.1 to 1.2 for script editors like myself. I filled out the 1.2 sign in sheet on the site, and was directed to a different blank page? Was I successful?

Anyways, it would also be great to see that parameter diagram I mentioned in my last post. Is it possible that it can be made?

Well, Paper, I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you mean adding that grid feature to AIGE/PWLib, or that you need someone to do that for you? I don't quite get it.

KSA, the Editor should have a more graphical interface for this kind of thing. Being able to draw your own examining range over the backgrounds would be very practical. If it can be made, of course.

This reminds me, how did you handle eximining 3D evidence? I don't think parameters would work in a 3D shape... Would they?

What I basically mean is if someone with more PWLib knowledge could create something simple like this:

- A single PW background(any)
- On top of the BG, draw out a simple grid(something like 4X4 squares, or 8X8)
- Label a few points on the grid with the appropriate parameters for PWLib

This would be a simple reference for all who want to set parameters for examinations. Since it's difficult to guess and check(mainly, you have to sit through your script every time just to test it), this simple diagram would be an excellent reference/guide for parameter setting.

I'm not demanding it be made, by the way. If either KSA or someone else on the Dev team finds it useful and has time to make such a thing, then I am just proposing the idea. I, for one, would find it very helpful, since guess and check parameter setting has been very annoying for me.

I'm not sure if it's set to measure out exactly in GIMP, since the game technically has 2 screen lengths, so the X and Y parameters of just one half image would be different from the settings in PWLib.

Also, there's an X and Y parameter for how large the examine area will be, which would be either difficult or impossible to find with GIMP.

Both are pretty easy in gimp. Just grab your rectangular marquee tool, select what you need and all the data appears in the tool options.

As for the multiple screen lengths thing, just add 256 to the X value.

For 3D examination, there is a very special method for defining the areas. I won't post how it is yet, to avoid possible idea copying and stealing.

Making an examine area definition program would be interesting.

I personally haven't tried using examining objects on PWlib however I will soon, so wait for my opinion.

Good news! I can resume progress on AJAA: JA and ME: AA because I now have returned home and have access to my laptop with the files.

That's weird. When I tried to set the examine points to what I want (and yes, I used GIMP), it's the area that was set before.

First:
157,302,81,23
Changed to:

Next:
177,274,58,44
Help? :think-think-think:
