Oh hai. Guess I should explain the long silence...

Second year of illustration at university is REALLY unforgiving, surprisingly so in fact. As such I've had virtually no time to work on Case 3. Progress, if any, is in really small bursts at the moment, but I'm finding it hard to get back the drive to work on it.
Maybe once I relax and get into a routine, I'll be able to find the drive and inspiration to keep working on the case, but for now it's just not happening :|
In terms of where the case is right now, I'm about 2/3 of the way through Part 1.

It's definitely not dead. Just put at minimum priority. Again.

Just thought I'd let you guys know. :eh?:

Why don't you put a little intro or part of the intro for case 3 onto
the end of The Haunted Turnabout when they've finished it?
It'll either way fit in with the credits so maybe you can put

-------coming soon--------- And then the intro (or part's of it in your case.)

Hmm, well the epilogue after the credits of Haunted Turnabout does actually lead into Case 3's intro.

Can't really say yet - the scripting so far is unpredictable to say the least.
I'm aiming for the release being before the new year, but as I said I can't guarantee that it WILL be ready by then. We'll just have to wait and see :)

Lol no there isn't a pun, it's just a "rich" sounding name.
I actually chose "Maplethorpe" because it was a name I heard on the AVGN's CD-i review, from a game called "The Flowers of Robert Maplethorpe". I dunno, it just stuck with me and I used it for the character. As for "Cedric", I just chose it because it sounded rich. :P

UPDATE: A bit of good news for once!
I actually managed to get a pretty big bulk of scripting done today. I'm currently starting the first of the last three testimonies of the second trial section. However after the two investigations and trials, there is, shall we say, "an additional section" to script before Part 1 is complete and ready for beta-testing.

Progress on Case 3 (as of 4/12/12)
Story - 95%
Scripting (in comparison to the whole thing) - 35%
Sprites - 70%
Music - 95%
Graphics - 60%
Progress towards part 1/2 - 80%
Current status - Part 1 - Trial, day 2 (latter); "Additional Sequence"

Current status:
Progress on Part 1 has stopped for a little while, as I've realised that I have to plan ahead for Part 2 in order to make sure that the overall case works. So I'm just planning and typing up the entire Part 2 (as a Word document, not as scripting ;P) to ensure that it will all run smoothly.

Hi guys, this is my first ever fanmade game I'm playing and I really love it! I want to continue but I can't - please read the text in the spoiler below.

Spoiler:
I just found Krump in a little snowy cave. I'm at the police station and am trying to find his file - but I can't! I've literally clicked everywhere and there is either "nothing here" or just files with nothing about Krump. Every video walkthrough I look at they find it after 1-2 clicks and I just can't find it. Am I doing something wrong or have I just encountered a game-breaking glitch? I have brought my save back to like, 10 minutes previously and replayed up until that point and I'm STILL encountering the glitch. I REALLY want to play!

Any help much appreciated, thanks!

Hi there - I think I may have encountered a game-breaking glitch in case 1. I REALLY wanna play it through because I am LOVING it - to me this is the same quality as a Phoenix Wright game normally and I'm almost going to treat this as canon :)

Spoiler:
I just found Krump hiding in a cave. I went to the police station and am looking for his case file in the filing room. But no matter where I click I can never find the file. Its either 'nothing here' or these are just files upon files of nothing... and I've pretty much clicked every square imaginable! I REALLY want to continue! I went back about 10 minutes and replayed up until there but I'm still stuck; the video walkthroughs I've seen people click in different spots and it takes 1-2 clicks, I've clicked all of those spots but no luck! Please help!

Thanks :)

Hi, glad to hear that you're enjoying it!
Spoiler:
Have you spoken to Vincenzo and exhausted all Talk options? Where Wright says that he needs to present something to know more about how he got his scar?
Since it's been ages since I made Scapegoat, I can't really remember much about the little details. But could that be why?

Hi everyone. After 2 solid weeks of uni work, I'm finally able to continue with the case. But after a few more hours of typing up Part 2, I came to realise something pretty overwhelming...

Let's just say that I hope you guys like REALLY complicated cases, because I've only just realised how overly complex and epic the case is so far. There are so many plots and subplots that span not only the previous two cases but the DT-2 case from T-Scapegoat, as well as the detailed backgrounds of every single character that tie into said plots and subplots. I mean Rise From The Ashes was complicated, but this...
My worries right now are that this case will turn out to be unnecessarily convoluted and long even for a finale case, and that this project may be going for another year. Or even two. Or even three. The time it'll take to make it... I dread to think that far into the future.

To give you an idea, the first part will have two investigations and trials (as well as an additional sequence afterwards that I can't reveal for spoilers) and will serve as more of a prologue to part two. But the second part will most likely have THREE investigations and trials (like Rise from the Ashes) to give room to the massive plot this case has. I could try and eliminate some of the minor subplots to whittle it down to the classic two investigations and trials, but I'm finding it almost impossible right now seeing as they would leave lots of plot holes and inconsistencies. Overall it feels really overwhelming and intimidating, meaning that it could be years before the entire thing is complete.

Frankly I'm afraid that this case has unexpectedly evolved into something way too big for me alone. But I'll try not to disappoint you guys in the long run. Hope you can understand.

how you enter the sealed off room
.

I really liked the set up to part 3 and I can't wait to play it when it comes out.

Well I am stuck on a few important parts to write, mainly the last investigation and trial (as in the very end, not just Part 1). I have an idea for how the villain will get his comeuppance, but I'm not sure about the "showdown" as a whole.

What I did sometime last year was summarise the case in a word document and let a couple of people read it and tell me what they thought and to offer any ideas. It was a way of seeing the case from an outsider's perspective, as well as look at the ideas of others. Besides, I think it's best to bounce ideas off of other people rather than try and tackle it all alone. The structure of the case is really complicated and I'd like to know if it actually works and is an interesting story.

So, if I were to summarise the case into a Word document (or rather update the old one) and include a script of how Part 1 will play out in-game, would you like to have a look?

Caution: It requires a full understanding of what's going on, and I'm a stickler for putting down every detail. :yogi:

The story in general is more or less planned out, there are just a couple of gaps here and there that need filling in.

Ah, the thing is though that I don't know who out of those people are familiar with the story arc. Really I just want to put it out there that those who ARE familiar with the story and are willing to look through my Case 3 summary and offer any help, they're more than welcome.

Lol nah it's not a word-for-word dialogue script xD It's still quite long though, it contains a summary of what happens during the whole case (playing as Phoenix) as well as character backstories and P.O.V.s that all tie into the plot. Like I said there are gaps here and there, so any input is much appreciated!
I'll let you know when I've updated it :)

Thought I'd better add an update since it's been a while.

Current status: I'm up to about roughly 85% of the way through Part 1 scripting-wise, but what I've been doing lately is going back over the previous scripts to tidy them up a bit, add more stuff like little details, etc. Once I've done all that I'll continue to get the other 15% done. And then it's ready for beta-testing.
