Cardi, have you played the elder scrolls series, you used a line from their game: oblivion. Vulper said "time for celebration, truth for everyone, wait scrathc that. Truth for no'one, you cant have it if you dont like truth" that line is used by a guy name Sheiagorath (or something of the sorts) in their DLC aaaand you used a theme from Elder Scrolls one:Arena, for The Police Chief.

So are you a fan of the series?

So I'm having a problem with this game on Pywright.

Spoiler:
I've gotten to the part in Scapegoats where Vulper gets his first penalty. When he says "BUT I'M PERFECT!" or something like that, pywright just shuts down and I can't get any further than that.

wtf is going on there?

I do have the latest version, although the updater didn't seem to be working, so I just downloaded the 0.987 updates and merged the folders together, overwriting the ones that had the same names.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, erhhhhh, wellll, nghhhhhhh............I think that it has something to do with the overwriting part.
Did you check that you have all of the folders you need?
And go and have a look at the part the game crashes. Then type that coding here or something. I was missing a line of coding in scapegoat as well.
And did you downland the latest version/package of Contempt of court/T-Scapegoat?

In case it had to do with the overwriting part, I reverted back to the .986 version (i assumed that this particular case is older than .987 anyway, although i guess that could be false), and it crashes at the same exact part. I looked at the code, and nothing seems to be wrong. I noticed that every time pywright crashes for the case (it has crashed in previous scenes) the sfx folder is supposed to be accessed. But it doesn't crash EVERY time the sfx folder is used. Overall, I have no idea what's going on.

Also, yeah, I did get the most recent package of the game. I downloaded it just yesterday, actually.

Also, no error screens. Pywright literally just shuts down.

It might very well be BECAUSE you're running on the latest version of PyWright, actually, which eliminated the use of the '{s nowait}' command (I can't recall if that's true for the standard {s}; probably not) and thus would cause the entire thing to crash whenever it reached the point.

...Well, at least I think so.
It's been a while since I've seen PyWright, admittedly, but the best advice I can give you is to tinker with this particular scene's code (could be problematic finding it, but maybe someone here could help you out and provide you with the scene's actual name) and replace all instances of {s nowait} with {s 5 5}. Or maybe {s 10 10}. Again, it's been a while...

I'll look into that stuff. A general question though... could someone possibly walk me through how to cleanly update pywright, without needing to manually overwrite stuff? I might be using the updater incorrectly or something.

No, as I said - it is because you ARE running on the newest version that this problem is occuring. :P

...But generally, your best bet is to just download the newest version off the forums and transfer the entire 'games' folder from your previous version to your newest.

Yeah, I get that the "updatedness" could be causing the problems, don't worry about that. I was asking about how to update cleanly just for future reference. Thanks for the help.

Oh, and Cardy.
I was able to fix the coding problem, it is a bit of a long story so grab some tea and a seat by the stove and have a listen.

(and the problem was on the intro was on THREE different computers i used)

first i moved the CoC files away from the "games" folder on to my desk.
then i downloaded the CoC from PyWright it self.
after that i copyed the intro from the folders on my desk to the "Not yet awailebol" intro.
then i moved all the other folders from the CoC file on my desk to the almost empty
"Turnabout of The Snow" folder.
then i changed the screen photo to vulper with his pretty kicking shoes and did little tweaks myself.

1.I changed the icon from Brisbane to "HIM"
Code:
icon art/ev/vulper.png

this was in the "data" folder.

2.Used something to have a little spice on Vulpy.
Code:
"{f}Indeed, my boy!{p10} Mr Wright is a{n}{sfx /shing.ogg}{ekrump-drama}{f}FOOOOOO{f}OOOOOOL{f}!!!"
:gant:
It looked alot better. this is on the Turnabout in The Snow (or was it of the snow?) the part when you go talk to "HIM". it is in the Vulper.talk part, not the present or the examine one.

3.
Code:
"Time for a celebration!{p20}{f}{s 5 5}{n}{etransform}{p170}{sfx /shing.ogg}{ekrump-drama}TRUTH FOR {f}EVERYONE!"
added even more drama krump. thi is on the same thing as the number two, i think.

4.Removed
Code:
"I believe Diego had a trial with{n}him some months ago."
"He lost, of course.{p30}{n}Vulper's win record is perfect!"
"Vex Vulper was Diego's first{n}failure in court!"
char Vincenzo hide
"{c099}(Diego...{p20} he's been in a coma for{n}almost 2 years now.)"
do to a timeline error from T-Scapegoat, scene7a2.script and replaced it with this
Code:
"Have you encountered this urchin{n}in the past, Sir?"
char Grossberg e=y-grossberg-bench
"No, I have not Vinnie."
char Vincenzo hide
"Don't worry, Sir.{p20}{n}I know what to do."

That makes it a little shorter but it now makes sence. :godot: :javado: :jake:

5.Im adding these extra funny poses and jokes to spots that seem a little lame and then post them here. :lana:

6.When playing T-Scapegoat, I spotted that after you present the "victim was carrying nothing" controdiciton and Snow goes to black and white for a moment and comes back, the witness bench stays black and white. to fix this small mistake just do this to the scene7a4snowtestimony2.script, lines just after the little flashback. :hobohodo:

Original
Code:
bw/wbench_bw

Present
Code:
fg wbench

7.IF someones game crashes after Vulpers penalty thing on the sentense
"How the hell can a creepy third rate law-" then I have a solution to this.
It is simple, PyWright crashes do to too much stuff coming to it at the sae time.
Animation, blib sound when speaking, "Bing" sounds and such and pauses.
well, I just removed the simple sentense and it worked wondefuly.
This can be found on scene7a5titustestimony1.script.
I removed this.
Code:
{p20}{spd2}{sfx /slash.ogg}{f}{s}

From this.
Code:
"{sfx /shock.ogg}{f}{s 10 10}BUT {f}I'M PERFECT!!{p20}{spd2}{sfx /slash.ogg}{f}{s}{n}HOW {f}THE HELL CAN A CREEPY {n}THIRD-RATE LAWYER LIKE YOU--?!"

Now it looks like this.
Code:
"{sfx /shock.ogg}{f}{s 10 10}BUT {f}I'M PERFECT!!{n}HOW {f}THE HELL CAN A CREEPY {n}THIRD-RATE LAWYER LIKE YOU--?!"

8.Same thing happend as in number 7, too much stuff to one spot.
Original:
Code:
char Vulper noauto e=bench-shatter
"{sfx /sfx-explosion.wav}{spd2}{s}{f}WAA{f}AAA{f}ARGH{f}!!!{spd1}{p60}{next}"

Now it looks like this:
Code:
"{spd2}{s}{f}WAA{f}AAA{f}ARGH{f}!!!{p60}{next}"

Removed:
Code:
{sfx /sfx-explosion.wav} and {spd1}

And replaced the Explosion sound by a slash, the final outcome is this:
Code:
"{sfx /shock.ogg}{spd2}{s}{f}WAA{f}AAA{f}ARGH{f}!!!{p60}{next}"

and if it still does not work then just remove the "{sfx /shock.ogg}" from there and It MIGHT look a little lame`erish but al least you can PLAY THE GAME now.(that was not a word)
and this stuff goes to the scene7a11.script :D

If there are more chrashes, just check is there too much stuff on one sentence or one scense. :)
Hope this helps! :odoroki: :garyuu: :kyouya: :hobohodo:

I think the issue is that his sprite is caked into the background so it doesn't disappear when you're not talking to him.

Same reason why Snow gets older when you're not talking to him at the beginning of Turnabout Scapegoat.

Yeah, there's still the occasional background from Scapegoat that I forgot to update when I revamped Snow's sprites. I've noted this for the future. As for the Krump issue... minor mistake.

Oh and because on one sentence at teh last line, I have theories now.
Spoiler:
Wictim lived the next door? Then that can mean only one thing, Smith is the victim, now see:We can safely say that Vulper was not the victim because he is sentenced to death, Brisbane is not a possibility, It would mean that the prosecutins bench is empty, detective snow is too good to be killed and he is the main detective. And we know for sertain that Renwick lives in a block, as seen at the ending of part 1, and Hemlock does have a preatty damn good reason to kill him, after like 6 years Smith has not told enyone about the location of the Enignium, so hemlock said, "Oh crap! I don't know where it is! Gotta go killin!". If this is not the case then meaby it could be brisbane, Klavier would kick in.
Or meaby it is the same time as the ending of case 3 part 1 still six years ago, and cause smith wont squeel, he frames him for murder! How about it.
Im most sertain that im right on the Smith-Being-killed thing. :garyuu:

Part 2: Master of Puppets

The day after Vex Vulper is sentenced to death, Phoenix receives a call from an unknown man who, after an unsettling conversation, gives him an address. Deciding to track down the address rather than ignore the odd call, Phoenix discovers a murder scene under investigation. But what changes his mind and drives him to take on the case isn't just the unexpected defendant... it's the even more unexpected victim.

Desperate to get to the bottom of whoever's responsible for this shocking crime, Phoenix defends his client and pursues the truth - a truth that originated five years ago. And after a series of strange events that tie directly to the murders of Perry Docks and Cedric Maplethorpe, Phoenix begins to wonder if he and the court have been making a terrible mistake all along.

Meanwhile, somebody is in control. Somebody is pulling all the strings, commanding the knowing and manipulating the unaware. Somebody has been behind everything all this time...

Let's see the theory we know so far:
Spoiler:
- The witness saw thing from her window. That can only mean the crime scene is victim's house. So that leaves Smith outside the bar. Vulper is sentenced to death so that leaves him too.
- So the possibility of the victim may be:
+ Brisbane (Low percent)
+ Detective Snow
+ The Judge
+ Terry - The CIA Agent (Remember that he had been chasing the smugging ring for a long time and Hemlock is one of them too)
+ That new chief of police fellow, dont remember his name. I'm not exactly right in count him in but it's a possibility)
- The defendant I think is:
+ Smith
+ Vulper (Well this guy is absolutely always in trouble, so I will count him in)

true, BUT impossible. He has no knowlage of it's location, remember how Renwick said that he would not tell about it? Hemlock would most likely kill Smith as useless even if he told. And if he had told them about it, why wait 5years?
Ergo, Smith was working for the ring because Hemlock wanted to keep an eye on him cause Smitty knew the loaction of "That stupid rock!" And Hemolck killed him cause he would not tell where it was, or meaby he told and smith was killed and erol too! But Smith is the most likely to be killed in there, hes the one hemolck would have the most motive to kill. Brisbane would just bunch his head inside-out if a guy with bunch of puppets and a bald head with blue tatoos would come with in five meters of him. And how do you propose he would know about the Brisbanes eye if Smith didn't spill the beans? And no, he didn't see the Vulper (2) trial (the vinnie defendent one) cause Erol has not been killed yet, and most of all:If Smith had told it five years ago, why would he wait to get the eye? :sawit:

Remember in the first part of Tut.Snow, the first scene of Hemlock using puppet to stab the police officer puppet, that means he knew exactly what happened in there. There's a possibility Hemlock is the one had told Vulper about the plan in murdering. May be he know about the location in that time but didnt have time to get close to Brisbane ?

Docks prought the knife to the interrigation, he can just lean horward after Vulper touched it and "BANG" and Cedric just tied the wire to the bars and garrotes himself, after that the memeber of the ring, Mr Smith takes it and puts it on the bars, after vulper touched it.
Snow mentioned that Docks seemed like an "oddball" meaning that he was gonna be commiting suocide cause of depression and Cedric was afraid of the Ring and humiliated in court and found guilty to a murder, he decided to end all things.
That is unlikely but possibol, as said: "INHALE" BRISBANE! CAN'T! DIE! :grey:

Spoiler: Part 2 Synopsis (Case 3 Part 1 spoilers)

Somebody has been behind everything all this time...

...Who is the all-knowing, all-seeing individual known only as Hemlock?

I've finally made the first sprite for the witness of T-Snow part 2's crime, the other new character besides the antagonist.

Name: Morag Weever
Age: 56
Occupation: Schoolteacher
Personality: Snappy, sharp-tongued, highly critical, treats everyone in court like they're schoolchildren at her class, but is nice to anyone on her good side and awards them with gold stars, stickers and the like. Weever's personality also has an additional twist that differs from what you're used to when it comes to a certain other old lady witness.
Other: Weever is the victim's next-door neighbour. She claims to have seen the crime from her window.

Spoiler:
:larry: I Hope it's not Snow, Vulper, Smith or Brisbane, I love those guys very much

Hmmm. I'm thinking the victim could possibly be
Spoiler: victim
Vincenzo Cicatrice.

He was involved in the enigmium trial as well, (although he's somewhat of a minor player in the mix) and maybe Hemlock thought he knew something that could ruin his plans so he killed him.

Although I agree that Smith, Vulper, and Brisbane are more likely victims than Vincenzo

...,(mate!)
this thing has some dumb comedy at the end.
Spoiler:
(after the shot) Im alive! It can´t be Vulper or Brisbane.
Vulper is already gonna be killed (deathpenalty) and Hemlock plan to frame Vulpy worked so he has no motive to kill him. and Brisbane must stay cause he is the only prosecutor (besides Hawk) that kicks-ass and hes the only prosecutor that we can have untill Klavier.
Vinnie could be killed but thats kinda lame idea to me.
and Renwick Smith maches the facts (only) so far.
and Snow could be killed and replaced my Smith but that would be preatty annoying (and stupid) to kill him, he is the main detective for gods sake and hes good with jokes, (mate!)

ps. If vinnie would die then the judge and phoenix would too cause they were involved, (MATE!)

So, It is Smith, face it.
