Perhaps this is what Edgeworth's "life bar" is in the game. Screw up enough times and he's off the case. (I think Tuesday said that.)
So from what I can gather, perhaps this would basically be like the prosecutor's version of psyche-locks or cross-examination, sans the magatama and courtroom, respectively.
