Anyway, I'm glad that Gumshoe's going to be the assistant. As much as I love the gimmicky female sidekicks, they just can't provide that "buddy cop movie" feel that Gumshoe can when he's the partner.

I didn't really get the feeling the new lady is a defence attorney, maybe another detective or member of the Prosecutors office?
I'm more looking forward to the possibility of an evil defence attorney and convicting people who are actually guilty for once.
Though I'm not sure if the side-on view of characters will be much improvement sure it allows for us to see Edgey interrogating folk but I'm not sure if it'll cut out somethin or just not be right

). I am thinking that Key Girl will be some sort of mysterious person that keeps popping up that knows more than she is letting on, and Edgey and Gumshoe have to find out who she really is. If this game has some interconnected cases, I think that it will culminate at the end with it being revealed that Key Girl was the "key" to the whole thing.

I like this. It could lead to a really touching scene where Edgeworth expresses genuine emotion towards Gumshoe, which is rare for him.

Ugh totally forgot about that, ok but there'll have to be a new evil defense attorney after all lets face it none of the prosecutors so far have had completely clean consciences so there has to be a defense attorney with some evil trait to him.

Anyways, I don't see why Key Girl and Gumshoe can't both play assistant roles of varying importance. If anything, I imagine Gumshoe being the actual assistant to help out (gameplay-centric?), with Key Girl sticking to Edgeworths's side but mostly there for story relevance.

Edgeworth would use him as the foil for most of the game's humor. In that way, he'd be kinda like the "Maya" or "Trucy" of the game.
One can only wonder if there will be a step-ladder in the game...

Anyways, to be honest, I think he will be just like in AA, since he always was somewhat free with information...
That's why he is fired everytime (or why his salary keeps getting lower...
).But yeah, I think he will be the detective he ever was, only somewhat more loyal because of his "special connection" with Edgeworth (1-4).

Sure he's had his buffoonish outlook in the past but he's still been vital at times like in 2-4 which was bloody awesome I was horrified for a little bit at Gumshoe's actions but he still pulled through. Now he's actually a main character though he HAS to be more credible. Even Maya has her importance so if Gumshoe is the new Maya he needs to look more competent. Plus maybe...his side-on look shown in GK looks more sincere? I dunno.

I agree.
Although he is very clumsy, he can be very useful too. Throughout the series, especially in 2-4, he gets you the important help that you need. Plus he seems to be very talented with electronics, look at the detector in 2-4; if I recall it correctly, he built that thing in elementary school! Pretty impressive for that age, huh?
So I'm sure he will be useful and cool in his very own way.
A guy like Gumshoe is reliable and trustworthy, pal!

It'll be the same except Edgey will need the gadgets and gizmos, it'll be 10 times better than Ema's 'science'.
Plus Gumshoe needs to get Edgey into all his crimescenes.

I like the comparison of Gumshoe and Inspector Gadget. Both seem to be clueless and incompetant, but at the end of the day they get the job done. Although, Gadget had to get his niece and dog to solve everything. Maybe KeyGirl will be to Gumshoe what Penny is to Gadget?

Very true. You coudn't do the whole Inspector Gadget comparison with Edgeworth and Gumshoe (or KeyGirl) because Edgeworth just exudes competance. If he were any characters from that show it would either be the Chief or Dr. Claw (in his demon prosecutor days). I think it would be funny if there was a scene where Gumshoe tries to treat her like his assistant and she does something to embarrass him for trying it in the first place. What can I say, Gumshoe is a whipping boy for everyone.
