No one mentioned the obvious yet... How about in the final case or an epic case, Phoenix Wright becomes a partner?
It would make some sense, if this game takes place after Trials and Tribulations. There is a gap between T&T and Apollo Justice, this could be one of the cases between that gap in Wright's timeline.

OH GOD. XD Miles keeps his partners in pokeballs, man. And once Franziska comes out, she whips Miles merciless and puts HIM in a pokeball. And then you're game over.

This is Edgeworth's game. Capcom already screwed up AJ:AA by making it into Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney: Featuring Apollo Justice, don't do the same here.

If he's there, he'll be limited to cameos and brief references. SHOE WILLS IT. :shoe:
