Well I literally JUST remembered that we decided the person with the gun is Nick and they're doing some bizarre roleplay =P

Basically agreeing with everyone here. Capcom wouldn't kill off Edgeworth, especially given the new game, they'll want to make sure there's opportunity to milk the spin-off series for all its worth if it's a success.
Also, I'd argue, of all the prosecutors Edgeworth is the only character with both the skill and depth to pull off being the protaganist of the series.

i would be willing to bet my collection of ace attorney games that edgeworth does not die. You can't kill the main character if you want a sequel and my guess is they will probally make one (you also can't kill the sex god of the series). However i don't want to look over the fact edgeworth life is being threatend by someone and i defently think this will become a major part of the story line but i don't think edgeworth will pay the price this is how i imagine the scene edgeworth is walking in the rain suddenly Bam!! a gun goes off but because gumshoe was behind him he pushes edgeworth out of the way and takes the gun shot. I'm almost positive they won't kill gumshoe either you can't kill the sweet innocent guy it just looks bad plus if they did i would go into a super sulky depressed state of doom. I just think he will end up getting injured only at the end to pull through and bring the supper evidence to the scene of the crime yaaaay.
ok.. maybe it quite doesn't go down that way but i have several things i have caught that seem to point to gumshoe getting in some sort of trouble and it defently wouldn't be above him to try to save mr.edgeworth

It's actually been my secret hope that he dies at the end of GK. I think it would be awesome.... if he dies in an EPIC way.

But mostly I want him to die because his death would screw with Phoenix so much, and I think it would better explain his personality change than a lost badge.
