You have a point. Gumshoe only spilled the beans, so to speak, around Wright when he wasn't suppose to him. I'm sure Edgeworth will warn him not to talk to Mikumo or Makoto. That's when Mikumo will say, "Well Sir Prosecutor, I didn't have to steal the truth from the dear Detective, he willingly gave it away when I smiled at him." (Just guessing at a speech pattern here, since we don't know how she'll talk yet. I see her as being coy, but I could be wrong.)

I would be really suprised if that happened. Not many Edgeworth fans like him paired with any female characters. There might be a small minority of shippers (in the same numbers as Edgeworth/Maya or Edgeworth/Ema).
I really don't like Edgeworth with underage girls. I make an exception for Maya because she is of age in the latter two games. I also make exception for AJ Era Edgeworth/Ema, but I don't think he was all that into her as she was of him. He saw her as child and she had a huge crush on him. I think she is supposed to represent most of us fangirls. I guess Capcom didn't know or just ignored the fact that most Edgeworth fangirls like him with men. Although, I think it would have been funny for Ema to have tried to hook Phoenix and Edgeworth up.
This is much more likely to happen in abundance. Maybe not rivaling NaruMitsu, but I think this could very well be the next ship people become sick of seeing on the kink meme and elsewhere.
Of course, only time will tell on both of those. We won't really know until the game comes out and see what kind of relationship Edgeworth has with either character. Who knows, it might be the first time in the history of the fandom Edgeworth fans prefer the Het ship over the yaoi (but I highly doubt it.)

:O If I remember correctly (which is somewhat rare XD), in 3-5, when Edgey presents Iris's picture to Gumshoe, he says something along the lines of, "She sure does seem to be spending a lot of time with, doesn't she?" Or something like that. Aww. He seems to really respect Edgeworth. I'm not suggesting any sort of pairing. Really. I'm sure he just doesn't want someone else absorbing the great Miles Edgeworth's attention, when the humble little detective could be helping him.
A few more lines afterwards led to Edgey's epic quote, "Do I really inspire such a frothing response from the female masses?" Yup. :-D
