Pay a hobo a dollar to plug his nose and say "Objection." End result's pretty similar.

That objection sounded like the guys at Capcom were just like "Okay we're almost done with the translation and everything, ready to ship tomorrow! ...Oh God wait we forgot Calisto's Objection! Mom, come here for a minute!"

Yeah...not sure what went on in her heart with her objection.
Ob.Jeck.Shon.

Who's to say Yew's even a woman?
After all...
Spoiler: Massive AAI-5 spoilers
She does say that even Calisto Yew's not her real name.
She is quite possibly a male from the Far East, real name: Wei Stoycal.

Well, her Japanese voice was low (for a Japanese woman). If you listen to :franny: and :mia:'s Igiari's Calisto's Igiari sounds quite low.

Mabye they were trying to mimic that? :yuusaku:

It's not that her voice is low that makes it bad, it's mostly how forced and bad it sounds compared to other objections. It just sounds of a lower quality than all the other ones in the game. It's very unpronounced and forced. Just very...awkward I guess. Like she wasn't expecting them to ask her to say it.

"Oh...you want me to say Objection...? What for? Okay I guess..."

I thought Yew's "Objection" was very appropriate, and I think the best female "Objection" in the series. The voice had an air of snobbiness in it, which was appropriate for the character. The other female "Objections" don't seem right. Von Karma, growing up in Germany, should have more of an accent to it, and it her voice seemed too high, quite frankly. Fey's Objection seemed to lack conviction.

Um, no offense, but in what way did Yew's objection have "conviction"?
I'll give you snobbish but...conviction? She just says objection in a rather normal, uninterested tone of voice.

I never said Yew's "Objection" had conviction. Just because I said I felt Mia's lacked it, doesn't mean I thought Yew's did. I guess my feelings of how "good" the "Objection"s are is tied to how appropriate I feel they map to the character. Yew's "Objection" felt right for the character. I feel Von Karma and Fey's "Objection" did not feel right for them.

Well, keep in mind that
Spoiler: AAI - 4 & 5
Yew is a fake attorney planted by the ring, she's quite callous, and indifferent enough towards the whole deal to not bother actually putting effort into her objections. Even when confronted by Edgeworth, she wasn't worried, she had a gun in reach, and was ready to escape. It's perfectly in character for her objection to 'lack conviction', as it were - she says it in an uninterested tone of voice because she IS uninterested.

The voice clip would probably be bad if used for an actual attorney in the main series, but for what it is, it works well enough.

Also, I just listened to the clip a couple of times and I don't see what's so horrible about it, to be honest.

As I said earlier, her objection sounds very forced, abrupt; almost disjointed. Ob/jek/shon. The extremely short pause between each phrase nags my ear each time she shouts it. I don't think it has anything to do with her
Spoiler: AAI 4-5
I'm not a real attorney, screw your objections

as I don't hear it as an uninterested tone of voice; to be fairly brutal, she sounds like she's got a broom up her arse whilst saying it.

It could be better if it was smoothly said; she sounds too pressured, which could fit with her character, but she's constantly anti-serious, so just relax a little, sweetie. You know how to Object, don't you? You just point your finger...and shout.

I agree with this.

Spoiler: AAI-4 & 5
I personally think her Objection! fits her extremely well. She doesn't feel pressured because she knows she can get away if she needs to. That's why she just kind of "throws out" objections. Sure, her objection doesn't have conviction, but it doesn't need it because she has no reason to be serious at all.

Honestly, the biggest peeve I had with her "Objection!" wasn't the fact that it "sounded like a man" (because it merely sounded like a deep-voiced, severe woman to me) but the fact that it only seemed to match her serious/nuetral sprites.

Spoiler: Possible spoilers? Somewhat.
It's just, in light of the many times she breaks out into uncontrollable laughter, and her general tendency to never take any situation seriously, I would've expected something more...joyous. Mockingly so. Her objection felt too indifferent, too harsh. However, I do think it was suitable enough, and did not sound like a man. I just wish it hadn't been so empty.

It just surprised me how nasal and manly it sounded compared to the others. Heck, even Croik was confused! Her enunciation threw me off, too. If it weren't for the speech bubble, I'd be wondering what she said. But then, when I first saw Calisto, I imagined her voice to sound pretty much like this.

When I first heard it, it didn't occur to me for a moment that it was her. I even started asking myself "Did Lance have an objection in the Japanese version? I didn't think so!" and listened back through the Japanese tracks too. At least then I found the Japanese objection I'd been missing, hahaha.

I don't think that it's too deep, it's just so...mannish!

Since we're off topic anyway...

Why don't Franziska and Lang have voiced "Hold it!"s, even though they have the speech bubble? I can see it being considered not worth the trouble to go get Franzy's VA again, but Lang...come on, he already recorded one line for this game, what's a second one?

Apparently, prosecutors and Interpol agents can only use their voice for one phrase. But poor Shih-Na doesn't even say anything at all. Except when she's Yew, of course. The pun just gets worse...

Back on topic, I like her Japanese voice. :) It was closer to the one I imagined in my head, compared to the English one. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a voice that has a slight nasal sound to it... Because of that, I'm also having thoughts about cosplaying now... Too bad I cut my hair already.

Makeup,ok as long as it's not too thick; having freckles can be cute at times IMO,so long it is not too much.

Hate her with a burning passion and find her distinctly unattractive.....plus she does sound like a man.

When I first heard it I was like "Eh? Who's that?" As I didn't know any other male characters involved in the case that would suit that objection.

Karmi, wanna edit your last post? This topic isn't marked for spoilers.

Spoiler: Case 5
And am I really the only one who preferred her Calisto persona to Shiina? I'll take bitchy and quirky over boring and 'mysterious' any day of the week.

Besides, gaudy earrings aside, that suit is SHARP. Nice to see a female attorney who isn't dressed like a dominatrix or has her tits hanging out for a change.

Personally, I find Calisto Yew to be a humongous turn-OFF, because I detest make-up that's put on to such an extreme that it makes the face look clownish.

But I'm a weirdo like that; I'm a fan of Lauren Paups, for crying out loud, who has far fewer fans in comparison to either Calisto Yew or Cammy Meele.

She dresses similarly to Gant....the Jacket anyway tis what I thought. Also maybe she's overcompensating with the makeup because she really IS a man.

And no b****y is never something interesting for me tis why I wish she died.

Haha, I love how I decided to scour the thread just to see if anyone else thought her Objection voice sounded like a man, and it turns out to be the dominant point of discussion. x'D Seriously though, when I first heard it I thought, "Was that Payne?", and then when I found out that it was actually Yew I thought, "...Is she really a girl?" LOL!
