Definitely not Maya, apart from the timeline, it doesn't look like her, unless she had Miney style face reconstruction. I desperately hope Maya turns up in the game though. A distant Fey relative is still a possibility. [Channelled younger Misty Fey turning up cause she's Edgeworth's mother! LOL.]
Is that thing about her being 17 true? I never have found an article confirming it. I wish they would release more info....

If it's Edgeworth's long lost sister (which is barely possible given her age...) why wouldn't she have shown up by now? If she's related to Gumshoe, why wouldn't she have made an appearance when he was in a car accident? Of course, she didn't exist back then. But that's why it's hard to create characters that fit closely to canon characters, after the fact: you then have to go back in time and invent reasons why they weren't around, and it makes a mess of canon.

Either way, this mystery girl is obviously very important to the game since she's popping up everywhere. (thank you captain obvious!)
I think she may be someone entirely new, I can't think of any connections she could have that are already played out.
The keys in her hair could just be some sort of fashion accessory, or can be used for something else. Since this game takes place during the first game, Edgeworth wouldn't have known about psyche-locks. So it's probably doesn't have to do anything with those. Maybe. Or they could entirely disregard Edgeworth's first encounter with psyche-locks were in the third game.
