Although the game is still in development and could very well not see any store shelves, Japanese or otherwise, until next year, I'd like to put this question out to everyone:

Are you going to import Gyakuten Kenji?

The reason I ask is because my brother, who works with NintendoWorldReport, is eager to get his hands on it early for his news crew, and asked me if I wanted to do the same for Court Records here. I'm wondering if there are any other players here willing to brave the Japanese script (and possibly the prelocalisation English one) along with me. I'd feel better about this if I wasn't doing it alone!

I most likely will. Still a long time to go - but it'll be worth it. Somehow I doubt they'll include another prelocalisation, though.

If that's the case... :sadshoe: I'm not all that great at Japanese. I'd be playing the game at the pace of Gumshoe figuring out a Mensa puzzle.

Even if I could read Japanese, I wouldn't import. Why? Parents won't let me because online shopping can be dangerous.

I'd rather wait for a store release... :yogi:

There are quite a few members of the forum that understand Japanese well enough to play the games, so you certainly won't be alone. We were talking about GS4 here long before it was released in America after all. I know I'll be importing for sure. :edgy:

I don't think there's any chance of there being another dual language release, though. The only reason they were able to do that for the first three in Japan is because they were remakes, and it became a large selling point in getting Japanese gamers to buy a new copy of the same game. But with newly released games they don't really need that, and it means delaying the Japanese version long enough for the English one to be finalized (which Capcom Japan does not seem fond of doing so far). Importing GK will likely mean only having it in Japanese.

I hope I'll be able to get hold of a sound rip from someone who imports it - I'm already excited about the new arrangement of Great Revival they had in the trailer :D

If it has the English version on it (which is doubtful) I will, otherwise, no.
I know there's a lot of people that imported GS4 that couldn't speak Japanese too, and just played it with the help of a walkthrough. Which I don't understand at all with Phoenix Wright games, because they're text adventures, and what's the fun in playing it if you can't read it?

Granted, this game seems to be more of an action game than text compared to the others, but still, as a puzzle game, and in preservation of the witty dialogue the series has, I don't think playing an import would be very fun at all.

I don't know Japanese so I doubt it, unless it like never comes out in America or something... then I might.

If it has English, then maybe I'll do it.

I probably will. By the time it comes out, a good dictionary and general knowledge of kanji should be enough to let me understand what's going on.

Probably not, because I would get it and just be sitting around for someone to come up with a walkthrough.

Of course, whenever the walkthrough/summaries are out, I WILL read them, because I'm an impatient bastard and I must know what happens NAO =B

Sadly I'll be skipping out till the US release.

I want this and GS5 to be the first AA games since part 1 where I haven't spoiled anything.

After that, I'll pick up the japanese release for my collection so it can just sit there.
