Are people ignoring me? _-_

It has been brought up a few times about where Maya went. I don't have any ideas at the moment, but Bee could probably think of something.

Boss is gone to get lost in Pokemon/go boating. It would be nice if you people don't do something that she's going cry over while she's gone. i am this close to a breakdown

Well, I'm not sure I see the issue with a lighthearted Makoto-as-a-BL-fangirl gag or naked transformations, or characterization discussion myself since this thread is full of crack like Kirihito's boobs almost busting their restraints, Pearl talking about her and Cody's sex life, and Gant as a child molestor...but I could admit that I'm horribly biased. ::glances at sig::

It isn't the content that is upsetting me at the moment. I've always been okay with it. (Most of it.)

It's all the things that are going at once while I'm gone and then, as I am trying to respond to it all, things keep happening and I have to go back and add more and it's a vicious cycle that never ends.

Of course, kinks in existing plans are always something to be upset about.

Until the drama is out of the way I will be pulling myself and all characters I've done things with out of the project. it's too stressful and I'm sick of it.

As far as PChat goes I will be elsewhere for that as well.

Look.
As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing more to discuss drama-wise.
My last few posts have been nothing but been contributing ideas to the project. I'd like it if you guys would comment on my ideas and present your own instead of beating the drama with a stick when it's already dead.
There's no reason any of the drama needs to continue. Leaving just creates MORE, imo. And that's not fun for any of us.
Can we PLEASE just continue with the project? Anybody else like to expand on or contribute their own ideas regarding Makoto's part? Like, how does she become a superhero in the FIRST place? She inherited the Power Perfect from her parents. When did she become aware of this? Has she known it from a young age and just been too young and weak to be a superhero so she waited until the right time? Was she too scared but a certain incident (Takita getting kidnapped? Something with her parents?) forced her to start fighting for justice? Did her parents not tell her about her powers and she became aware of them in an incident where she was drawing something and it almost caused danger when it came to life? There's any number of ways this could play out. Any body have any feedback on these ideas or any others?

Wow. I'm gone for a day and already there is so much stuff on here now and I'm confused like heck!!! I did not expect alot of convo to come from one night!!! You guys are making it more dramatic though than I thought. I thought it was just supposed to be all in good fun. Personally, I love all the ideas that have presented so far and respect each and every one's opinions on this matter. And Yuu, don't leave us!!!! I love seeing your stuff and ideas!!!! I just wish everyone could participate on this project happily and get along!!! I just hope I don't get flamed for posting this!!!! -_-'

...Agreed. These are some good questions to start with. I'm going to try and minimize ideadump for the Boss's benefit (knowing my luck, I'll fail), but I'm going to see if I can think of possible answers to these questions...
When she found her powers: Hmm, I think it seems to be a more recent discovery. I think this would be set a bit earlier if she knew of her powers all along... and I think someone mentioned that Makoto's memories were wiped when she left the pocket dimension... (Why'd she do that, by the way? I think it had to do with Franziska vs. Manfred storyline...) But it makes sense that a certain incident would trigger her to "wake up and fight." If I recall, the overarching storyline has Manfred as its villain, and that there was a conflict between Franziska and Manfred... maybe the event should have something to do with that?
...And I think I'll stop there for now.

And to Dullahan: That's the spirit. :phoenix:

Okay, Boss is back from boating and she played lots of Pokemon and nothing blew up, so now she's calm enough to talk coherently.

Yuu, you're leaving? No don't do it that's not the right thing to doooo
I admit I might have panicked a bit. Wasn't expecting a postflood and then Mu brought up a very important detail and so I went ACK.
But I fail to see 'drama'. At most I see 'Urby running around like a chicken with it's head cut off'.

Since I couldn't swim today (lol, I'm bleeeeeeeding) I spent a lot of time thinking about this. Especially the Makoto bit (Obsession? Me? Oh lords no.)

Here're my thoughts.

Makoto's memories were wiped because they might be traced to her location. Thus, to be truely safe, Makoto had to forget that she had uberhax.
However, Doburoku somehow managed to witness some Power Perfect in action. Maybe he saw the mommies part, but at the very least he knows there's something a little magical about that plushie the girl has with her.
I'm thinking that when Makoto first tries to go to school, there is a mysterious 'incident' - there's a little PP unleashed that day, not enough to trigger memories, but fishy enough for Doburoku to hide his daughter from the outside world for a long time.
A long, long time...
Makoto hasn't been out since she was a child, working in the world she knows - her father's studio. However, the Bad Guys (who are these? Goons of Manfred or something?) still manage to find her - not through her memories, but through her father's.
Stipulation time - Doburoku protects the secret with his life. Makoto shuts herself up even more, but then the Bad Dudes find her, and that's when she really unleashes her power for the first time.
After that realization, she has no idea what's going on, so she steps out into the world to try and find help...

Neeeerrrow how is it.

Let's not complain about drama. Silver and a lot of people are right. We have discovered holes. Now, let us fill them instead of...whatever was going on.

As much as I would love to come back to this project, I need my sanity. And the episode in PChat yesterday further solidified this. It's just not fun anymore when everyone goes nuts.

Yuu, if you don't want to be a part of the project anymore, that's your own decision.
However...we hopefully AREN'T going to be "going nuts" anymore. As far as I can tell, everything's sorted out. Not to beat this over the head with a baseball bat, but...talking about drama based on a few misunderstandings that's all in the past is just a bunch of pointlessness, when you get down to it. I realize I'm being hypocritical here but if we all just let it GO then there won't BE any more problems. Right now I just want us to be working up as many ideas as possible.

Urby, I'm REALLY liking the sound of that. It fits in well with canon while adding a nice premise for Makoto becoming 1337.
So, what happens when she tries to enter the outside world? Do her parents come and explain things to her at this point, or is she blocked off from her parents somehow? ...And come to think of it, she WON'T be very accepting of the fact that she was actually the child of a couple of supernatural women with the power to bend time and space. A lot will be going on in her life and she'll be afraid of the outside world, making everything harder. To make everything worse, she's expected to fight evildoers with powers she's not aware of. There's no doubt a lot of needed angst to make this all work--and that's where the Chief plushie gets a lot of use, as her confidante (sp?) or sorts. She'll no doubt be more willing to tell a plushie about all her inner and outer conflicts than she would telling somebody else, especially considering how painfully shy she is.
Of course, as necessary as angst is for her development, we need a healthy dose of crack and fun.
Enter Pearl, Minuki, HADO GAAAY Apollo Justice, G-girl, Takita and co to liven things up. Somewhere in here somebody (Fradrian?) decides to have Makoto at a highschool--perhaps to help with her disguise? Perhaps to give her a view of the outside world?--and then we can mix it up with all of our other character ideas and get this party REALLY started.

(I apologize for the wealth of cheesy and cliched phrases in my posts...It's just too tempting xD)

This all sounds good... but we need to remember that Makoto is still very shy and probably very ignorant of the the world she's been kept away from (we've done a good job with that so far). By the way, how does Makoto meet Takita and Matt? They would probably come to her instead of the other way around. And then how does she meet up with the other heroes and villains and whatnot? Are the heroes all part of some secret entourage to escort Makoto back to her parents so that she can help them defeat Manfred? Or will they all be trapped by Manfred somehow? Speaking of the villains, what reason do they have to get in Makoto's way? It doesn't seem that they're all working under Manfred (example: why would the Kiddy Fiddler want anything to do with that?)... and some of the villains don't seem to have anything to do with Makoto's story arc at all (for example, the Garyuri). It's all about the conflicts, internal and external.

You bring up some good points.
She meets Matt ( :nick: ) and Takita at...hrm. The original plan was to have her in college, wasn't it? o.o Then we have her down at the highschool doing...art projects, yes? So she meets Matt and Takita at college.
The way I see it, not EVERYTHING centers around Makoto, though she is the main character. After she meets the other heroes (...how's this gonna work? Does she meet Minuki/Pearl first and they reveal their identities to help her after witnessing a freak accident at school involving Makoto's Power Perfect?), they all work together, but that doesn't mean that they're all targeted by/target the same people. Example, Makoto may come along to aid Apollo in a fight against Sadistress, but she would not have the same internal conflict as Apollo, she would be working with her shyness and fear while fighting instead. On the flipside, Sadistress might be only interested in Apollo, ignoring Makoto. By the very fact that they're on the side of "justice" or "evil" already, everyone on one side is against everyone on the other, though they may not have interest in every specific person.

I don't have a solution for the 'outside' heroes and villains, because...either other people know about it more/have their claims on them, or I don't care. :adrian: Gasp, Urby is being honest desu no!

However, Re: Makoto meeting Takita and Matt
I think that Makoto should have met Takita before, have a bit of background. (Girl next door romance? Maybe so)
Perhaps the Mafia needed something forged? Maybe Takita like...broke her window playing baseball or something.

Makoto: Deet dee dee...*paintpaint*
Window: CRASH.
Ball: *poiks Makoto's head*
Makoto: AHHHH IT CAME FROM OUTSIDE IT'S GONNA EAT ME. ;0;
Takita: Oh, crap! *flee!*

And then Papa Fox has Takita apologize and pay for the window. Something or other.

I like the idea that Makoto has another 'accident' at school (Makoto! You should never doodle in class!) then perhaps Minuki could get her aside and say "Hey, you're one of us, aren't you?"
Makoto probably went to high school/college/EDUCATION PLACE after Doburoku died because she can no longer be homeschooled or something. Or (gasp!) she's lonely.

Matt she meets later (Win a date with a star!) and yeah. :yuusaku:

...On-topic: I like the idea of Takita and Makoto having a history, s'long as we keep in mind how long she's been stuck inside and terribly shy. Perhaps they were brief friends when she was reeally little, before Dobkjgiea discovered her powers? Perhaps, since he went to the college she was planning on attending, she needed to turn to him for help on how to get in, and he started crushing over her so he tried to spend more time with her outside of that? I like the idea of them living near each other :adrian:

And yeah, I don't really think we NEED a solution for some villains/heroes not centering around the main plot: It would be a VERY contrived story if everyone in the universe was bending over backwards to be relevant to one girl, no matter how powerful she may be :yuusaku: You need subplots and side conflicts.

Hmm... there's a thought. Little incidents that bring people together... (Have we decided that she discovers her powers, then Minuki, and then Apollo by extension through a little incident?)
But what actually STARTS Makoto on her journey? Some Oracle from beyond the stars giving Makoto a message from her mothers? Also, what is her main objective? A good objective to me seems to be aiding FrAdrian in overthrowing Manfred, the cruel Emperor of The Universe.

Okay, so we don't need everyone to fight Makoto. But who exactly does, and why? I think there was a Makoto vs. Kiddy Fiddler match brought up somewhere... and Redd White, the man originally chosen by Manfred, may have goons after her too. And she probably clashes with Repast as well. The problem is, the route from Point A to Point B seems a little too clear... either we need more bad guys (?!) or we need non-enemy obstacles in her path. Or maybe all of the obstacles/the main plot occur once she meets her mothers and learns what she has to do?

I don't know where this fits into everything, but I just remembered something EPIC posted back on the first page that I felt like quoting to make sure it gets included.

MoronSonOfBoron wrote:
Possibly the most epic event in the Super Makoto and Pals saga.

As Franziska and Adrian draw closer to end of their investigation of spacetime, a startling discovery is made about what, exactly, threatens the Power Perfect...
Spoiler: Click for synopsis. WARNING: MAY BE TOO HARDCORE AWESOME
Franziska returns from her trip through time and space to the original dimension where Super Makoto and Pals takes place. She has finally located the threat to the Power Perfect - Makoto herself.
Having used the Power Perfect to create Makoto, Franziska realizes that such a foolish and passionate act has endangered the Power Perfect, indeed the very fabric of the universe, and thus has decided to end her daughter's life. It is only at a specific time and place that she can truly annihilate Makoto from the timestreams using the Power Perfect.
As Makoto prepares to take the mortal blow from her own mother, ANOTHER Franziska appears and stops the first one. An epic battle ensues between the two Princesses of the Universe, but they are too evenly matched to come to any conclusion.
The newcomer Franziska reveals that in her hunt for the threat to the Power Perfect, she discovered that another Franziska from another timestream had targeted Makoto - this was the true threat to the Power Perfect. Franziska had been hunting herself all along. Makoto aids her "true" mother, the one from the original timestream, and annihilates the alternate being from existence.
The Power Perfect is brought into balance once again, but most importantly the bond between a mother and child remains unbroken.

Anyway. I guess the only problem I have with a straight-forward journey to meet her parents and then overthrow Manfred is that we have a couple of characters who AREN'T superheros. Takita, most notably. Not that Makoto should be bogged down to one location for him, but once she sets off on her quest, what's he going to do? He has no means of following her. Does he ever find out about her powers? Are we just going to have him waiting for her, wondering where she is, and then she comes back for him at the end and cue romance? Or is he tagging along somehow for some reason? Either way's fine with me really and though the latter would include Takita a lot more, the former would be a lot easier and more believable to pull off.

But at any rate, once that little detail's figured out, I think meeting up with Fradrian and then overthrowing Manfred is a solid main goal. Many sidestops, subplots, and conflicts with outside villains, of course.

Ah, right, I remember that. When exactly should that be implemented? Just before the Great Meeting of The Universe? [/cheesy] Or would it just be some random kink in the plans along the way? As for Takita... maybe he's needed to get through the "Power Drain" zones, and is told to come along for that reason and given something that allows him to tag along. If Makoto went into a Drain zone, she would probably die- so Takita's lack of actual powers comes in handy. And I think I posted something like this earlier, but... maybe she enters a Drain zone without knowing it (perhaps near Manfred's citadel?), and ends up trapped and drained, unable to even move herself out. Takita comes in and rescues her (there's some epic "Save The Princess" action right there), but she's been there for so long that she's almost in a coma. Only the Power Perfect can dispel a Drain zone (no, not even the one who made the Drain zone can safely dispel it, thus the need for reality hax) and heal the damage cause to Makoto, but since Makoto's out of commission, there's only one other option. So then there's a little "sidequest" where Takita embarks on a search for Franziska, blah blah blah, Makoto is saved, the field dispersed, and our heroes move on...

Uh oh, I think I went off the topic. X_X But anyway, Takita ought to be made useful somehow. And where's Matt during all of this? Maybe he disappears after being discovered as Repast/is being held "hostage" by Shoe?

My idea is that Takita eventually finds out or is told by Makoto about her powers.
That way there could be an ooohsuspenceful kidnapping of Takita - "COUGH IT UP FOX BOY" - but he keeps his secret because he believes in his girl!
...Or something.

Maybe just maybe he might actually have a power (not something explosive but still important - perhaps he has the 'key' somewhere? THE YAKUZA, THEY'VE GOT CONNECTIONS WITH THE INTERDIMENSIONAL BEINGS) and that's why he comes along? ...Or maybe Makoto needs him for emotional support. I won't want to leave him behind since...well, I like him :yuusaku:

Matt...huh.
Could go one of two ways.

1. Matt either hides or kills himself because he finds out he is EVIL MONSTA and no longer wants to hurt anyone.
2. Matt somehow either finds a way to control Repast or transforms him into a 'nice version'. Still a hulk out sequence and RAWRMONSTER but, you know, less evil. And probably more cool versus creepy.

First is more believeable, second I like better although it makes absolutely no sense unless we GIMMICK THE HECK OUT OF IT.

@Sami: ....."Drain zone?" *missed a few pages in the middle of the thread*

@Urbs: I'm liking your ideas about Takita :D Okay, we'll have him find out about TEH 1337 POWERZ and come along with Makoto. I don't think he'd have powers, but maybe we could play with his "I KNOW KUNG FU" sprite and...make him know kung fu? >>; Not terribly useful against SUPER BIG MAGICAL VILLAINS, but he could knock off a few goons or sneak around or something.

As for Matt...You're not going to like this, but I'd rather he be consumed by his dark side and then killed by the superheros. We might even get an angst scene if Makoto herself kills him and then finds out too late who he really is. Repast could, during a fight with Makoto and pals, be TEH EVIL and then the good Matt can gain control for a split second to make Repast lose and die because he doesn't want to hurt Makoto. I think it would be the most believable method of pulling it off while still making him have a redeeming last moment of humanity rather than being completely consumed by evil. Of course, I'm open to other suggestions if you think it can work.

1. "Drain zone" = power drain zone. If anyone who is naturally superpowered enters these zones, they their life energy sucked out (to where, I don't know- maybe to the evil dimension Urami's from? [Hey, those immortal witches have to come from SOMEWHERE...] That could be a bit of a plot device as in, "We're using your energy to resurrect some dark god as the final boss!") The paradox behind the Drain Zones is that while someone with superpowers can make one, they can't dispel it without falling victim to it. Since the Power Perfect defies all rules, it can dispel a Drain Zone.
2. That way of handling Matt could make for some nice drama. And you know how all death scenes of "good people who turn into monsters" go... some confession of love (probably met with some sneering by Takita), some revelation of a secret key to the journey... and then, in a deus-ex-machina (?), Matt's ghost comes back to help Makoto and Takita, or at least cheer them on.
3. Takita could at least tag along for manpower purposes. You never know when you could be one person short... [/potentialplotdevice]

Oh, I see. Yeah, we could do something interesting with the drain zones.

...But if we're doing this the way I suggested, I don't want Matt's ghost to come back. That destroys the purpose of the setup I talked about. It makes all the previous drama seem contrived and fake. And from there on, nobody will ever worry about anybody truely dying because "Oh, everyone can just come back anyway." If we're having Matt come back anyway, we might as well just keep him alive.

Oh, right. I wasn't seriously considering that route, anyway. XP But EVERY person like that who dies has a cheesy farewell speech, right-ish?

Well...the way I figured it was that at that point, Matt was completely changed into Repast because his evil side had devoured him. He had no control over his body but was very vaguely aware of what was going on. Then there's some point in the fight that's sort of a key moment--Makoto and Repast are both about to fire off some fatal shot, I don't know--and Matt gains semi-control right then and forces Repast to just stay still, so that he's an easy target for Makoto's fatal attack. Then he dies. I don't think that really lends itself to a farewell speech--the idea was more, Matt redeems himself to the readers but not to the characters. I don't think it would make sense for him to MAGICALLY TRANSFORM INTO MATT LOL just before he dies, unless he requires a certain amount of energy or something to stay in Repast form..? Anyway, Makoto could later find out about Repast's identity from Aiga or Ema, since they created Repast, and then angst and anger and Makoto blowing up at Aiga and perhaps defeating him right there...? Then Takita comforts Makoto and angst fluff.

...Of course, that's all pretty darn DARK for a crack super shojo fan project. I'm still open to change, just explaining how I saw it. If we want, we can have Matt give a speech of sorts..
OH IDEA RUSH.
Or, Matt, knowing that his evil side has almost devoured him, quickly met with Makoto and THEN super cheesy special speech that Makoto doesn't know the meaning of--until it's too late. Matt, after giving himself that last meeting with Makoto, flees to somewhere far enough away that he can't hurt her--unfortunately, as Repast takes over, since Matt's mind has been entirely on Makoto and he wasn't able to get far enough away, Repast goes after Makoto. Then, cue Matt stopping Repast and angst scene I described above.

Well... this is getting a bit over my head XD

Great project. Wish you all the best and I will follow it as best as I can, but I think I'm done contributing. It's... a bit too much to follow, especially when I've missed so much with not being in the right time zone for all the planning and the wedding with no internet and stuff.

Much <3 to you all.

[rulebend]But is Repast Matt's default form? If Repast isn't the default form, it sort of makes sense that he'd revert after Repast's energy was expended. Of course, Matt himself wouldn't have much energy left, so... there it ends.[/rulebend]
Why was Repast created in the first place, anyway?

And just for clarification, have we determined this about Makoto?: She's got a tendency to progress through little incidents. She discovers her powers and meets Takita that way. And Makoto meets Matt in college?

I'm a fan of this idea, but if you could make something else work go go.

...I don't think Makoto meets Takita through a Power Perfect show. We haven't cleared that up yet. (I like my idea. Yes I am biased rawrgrrr)

Matt's a star, whom she meets...through a movie and then a date. :yuusaku: Not so sure on dat des

To the boys: Yes it has been really...well, it's been going crazy lately :meekins:
Thanks for your support, hopefully we can sort everything out and make it presentable soon.

.....Oh.
Just goes to show you shouldn't spent paragraphs building on an existing idea when you missed a few pages of the thread >>;
Oops.
That sounds good too. Only problem I have is that considering Makoto's shyness and fear....And this is a question I have to ask because I haven't played the game and don't know much about her personality: In that situation, would she 1. still trust Matt or 2. be able to fight Repast at ALL? Because I think we should at the least have the repast stuff be later in the arc, when Makoto's already had some development and it's a bit more...imaginable :yuusaku:

And no, Makoto doesn't meet Takita through the power perfect...I think he doesn't discover it until a little while after he meets her? I think the idea from before, of him being her neighbor who starts showing her around since she's so sheltered and eventually develops feelings for her, is a decent one. ....And I like Urbsy's idea of the broken window XD

Hey guys. Yes, I finally got my flight and am currently struggling to keep up with all this, dial-up and buggy IE notwithstanding. On the other hand, my girlfriend and I have been having lots of fun.

- - - - -

I think the worst of it is over (no thanks to me). I realize my "hardlining" might not have been the best thing to add to the conversation, and seeing the progress/drama in the past two pages has certainly built my confidence in the project as well as its contributors (old and new) in the "aftermath."

I am, however, disheartened to see a casualty. Sad to see you go, Yuu, though by this point I think it's safe for you to come back. I don't know if we can do better with Aiga if we don't include Yuuka - the mad scientist bit is more or less overdone, and she really spices things up.

- - - - -

Takita and Matt
Makoto's new bent as a beyond-awkward girl with superpowers tickles me greatly. When you think about it, not a lot of anime-type heroines are incredibly withdrawn.

I think it's pretty much solid that Takita and Makoto are "childhood friends." Compared to this, I know Matt seems rather extraneous and random, but...
When first introduced, Matt is something completely random and alien to Makoto's world that she eventually learns to accept. Juicy bit here might be Takita having a bit of a dilemma as to whether to encourage her to go out into the world on her own and have an adventure, or let his own jealous tendencies discourage her from having fun - his "brotherly" or "paternal" instincts let her go out with Matt, of course.

A lot of Makoto's personality development should be done through Takita and Matt introducing that dynamic of intimacy. Aside from her plushie and the occasional sleepover with the girls, I don't see her sharing much of what's inside of her with other people. What with her agoraphobia, the two guys come to represent the positive slices of the world that she would love to hold on to, and ultimately protect. I think that's what her drive to be a superhero is - THE POWER OF LOVE.

On that note, if Doburoku were ever removed from the picture I really don't think she'd venture out on her own. (HALP DADDY GOT MURDERLIZED OMIGOD SUN GET BACK INSIDE) And that's why we have Takita introduced either before or at this point, to replace Doburoku in a sense. (Me big gangster, you cute girly, I protect you and I CAN SHOW YOU THE WORLD SHINING SHIMMERING SPLENDID~)

And Takita definitly needs that "moment to shine." All his swagger and "kung fu" become something akin to the real thing when Makoto desperately needs him. (To be honest, though, I think Takita knows all his martial arts from old movies rather than any real discipline)

Repast
The original joke for Shoe was that he was an evil mastermind kitten who just wants to nap all day. Unfortunately, with heroes and such always trying to put a stop to his plans, he finds himself overwhelmingly busy. Thus, he creates Repast to act as a puppet, a monster so terrible that people would chase after him rather than a "harmless" kitty. I'm not sure why he selected Matt, though... other than for creating a very interesting story arc.

I really think it's important for Makoto to be knowledgeable about Matt's alter ego, though. Really throws a big fat kink into the love triangle, since she supposedly helps Matt retain his good side.

Maya
I really don't know anything about this, since no one can agree on anything for it, heh! My own idea is that Maya has gone into hiding, especially since the destruction of Kurain - she and Pearly are the only survivors of the Fey line.

Except, of course, for Chinami. DUN DUN DUN - eager to keep her super spiritual powers for herself, she concocts a plan to eliminate the other heirs to the Fey line (namely Mia, Maya, Pearl... possibly Ayame?).

It's possible that the Steel Samurai knows Maya's hiding place - this could also lead to him "raising" Pearl, as part of a promise or bond of honor.

Another part of the reason for Maya hiding is because she had Phoenix's child. *shot*
Wait, but if Maya and Phoenix have a baby, that means the heir to the Fey line is...!

As I too am no longer in the midst, just keep that in mind.

My problem with the OCs was not with the OCs themselves--I have no problem with the characters of Yuu, or Shannon, or Lyss, or the Chief Plushie, or any of that.

I do feel, however, that when you're doing a group community project such as this... too many OCs make it less accessible for people to jump right in and participate. It sort of becomes in-joke-y, cliquey, exclusive. I know all the PW original canon characters, I love seeing what you all do with them. "Hey, Aiga's a mad scientist! Hey, Matt's an... Akira-esque demon thing! Hey, it's Hobocop!" But then there are the OCs, and even though I've been in this from the beginning, it throws me--I don't know who they are, it requires more outside knowledge, and to me, at least, it makes it less of a fun community project and more of one big inside joke.

If it were just one person writing this, than it'd be... well, it'd be better. But like GyakuMECH, the core of Super Makoto is that it's a big community project. And I personally feel that the inclusion of OCs, particularly those who have a major influence on the canon characters, makes it less accessible and less of the fun project it started as.

Can we please just....not backtrack about the OCs again?? This has been discussed more than enough times, no sense beating a dead horse. Besides, they have almost no direct correlation with Makoto herself, which is good since it centers around her. The plushies have zero bearing on this too...they're like spirit friends if you will.

Opinions will always be had, but the thing that needs to be focused on here are characters' motivations, backstories, and any holes that should be filled. We want to move forward, not backward.

I don't ever recall discussing this to death. This is the first time I've really spoken my thoughts on the matter and verbalized them, and I feel these are concerns that are not unfounded. The truth is, that the more "in-jokey" this becomes, the more cliquey it becomes, it becomes much much harder to approach and participate in if you aren't already. And I think that should be taken into account.

And criticism should be welcomed, not opposed. I've been nothing but civil and polite on my views, I don't intend to offend anyone, but I just seriously want to emphasize this--I've been in this from the beginning, and I feel very lost. There are many factors to this, but OCs are one of them. Imagine how a newbie to the whole project must feel?

The more accessible the project is, the better it is for everybody.

But then... this is all I have to say. Have fun with your project and I await the results.

My part of the debate is done. I just want to enjoy the project and watch it unfold, no matter how many speed bumps we hit and how many people offer stipulation and speculation. It's going to happen. It should happen. But the degree to which it happens is another.

Back to what I was going to post before that happened.

Bee, as always you pick the best times to come in and say the most awesome things. (Paragraph 7? I'm looking at you ~)
Funniness aside, that bit is the part that I'm focusing on. It is true that Makoto would hide up even more if her father died. (IT'S TRUE, THE OUTSIDE IS DANGEROUS, WATCH ME NEVER GO OUT THERE AGAIN)
I like the idea of Takita coming in and helping her.
Child!Makoto: *heid oh god oh god this can't be happening*
Mysterious Shadow: *turning over a table that was knocked over during the fight, which so happens to be the one Makoto's hiding under*
Makoto: eeeei - dont hurt me please mr. monster
Mr. Monster: Whassat? Speak up, yew hurt or nuthin'?
Makoto: ...i know you youre the boy that broke my window.
Mr. Monster: *fiddles with an 'ear'* I said I wuss saorry about that already! Now c'mon, yew need any help?

AND CUTENESS AND EEEEE @@

I'll post my thing on this OC biz tomorrow/when I have time.

On another note, I am incredibly amused by the people using my vocabulary. (Bunk? Bee? Them's be Urbish words!) I even caught MSOB using 'wtph' :garyuu:

GAH URBY THAT IS FAR TOO ADORABLE FOR WORDS *O*

....I...don't really think I have much of an opinion on the OC issue. I DO agree with Funk: Personally, if I hadn't been able to see the planning process that goes into why the OCs were created and what they add to the characterization, and I came across a thread or a fic or something that had OCs paired with canon characters...I would have automatically assumed "MARY SUES" and not looked any further into the project. Or if they WEREN'T paired with anyone, I would have tried to get into the thread/fic/whatever, but I'd be a bit overwhelmed by "Who ARE these characters and WHY are they in this...?" and eventually not be able to finish.

HOWEVER: as someone who HAS been looking into the planning, I can say that a lot of the plot developments and characterization we've planned up have to do with OCs. If we wrote a fic or something, it'd be a shame not to include all of the time went into those. And even if it makes no sense to anyone randomly coming in, (and probably even most of you xD;), I love me my Silver plushie.
As far as the RP goes, as that would be essentially writing snippets of fic for the project from various viewpoints, and if it's not something for the general public to read, just something for us to flesch out our planning and put it in action, I don't think we need to worry about outsiders understanding because you'd need to have read through the thread in the first place to be able to participate. I DO think that this project, from all of its injokes and planning sessions, has become something that the general public can't understand--thing is, it doesn't necessarily HAVE to be depending on where we want to go with this.
Personally, I think that if we want to write a fic Gyakumech-style that we're sharing with the general public, the fic should make some sort of SENSE to the general public as opposed to a reaction of "Why is Kirihito a girl, who is Yuu, WHY ARE ADRIAN AND FRANZISKA MAKOTO'S PARENTS, and what the heck are these plushie things supposed to be? o.o"

HOWEVER. These things are the majority of the project. Taking out all the injokes and OCs would leave us with essentially nothing and just not be fun. It'd be one thing if this project had developed the same way Gyakumech did, with ideas that everyone could understand, but we've based too much on not generally understood ideas for the past few hundred posts to completely redo our method of going at this.
So here's my suggestion: We continue as we're going. We expand on what we have so far idea-wise. We draw fanart, comics, and stage an RP, and write snippets of fiction.

And then, if we decide to make it more community-friendly, we write an additional fanfiction to share that's not an all-inclusive epic of the universe we created, but rather a story of a magical superhero named Makoto, her boyfriend Takita, and her and some other heroes' quest to overthrow Manfred the evil overlord etc.etc.etc. I don't know, if we decide to do that we can sort through our ideas and figure out what can be used in a single story arc.

Anyway, that's just my two cents.

That brought a tear to my eye Silver. [I almost typed Silvy x.x ]

On the subject of Makita...[Or should it be Takoto?] The triangle with Matt seems almost too predictable. I like the idea of him being consumed by repast, then his true side coming out in a final moment of humanity and self-forgiveness.

But.

There needs to be someone to throw a wrench into the happy happy Makita. Looking back on GS4, who better than...Minami herself. Normal human of course, and either an ex of Takita's or a former potential prospect that ended bitterly. Whether she still has feelings for him or not is questionable to those who know her character; she's out for revenge now.

Seeing that Makoto is painfully shy [let's say her dad is dead for now], holding herself up in the house in absolute fear, until she begins to let Takita in very slowly...Minami goes to extreme lengths to exploit her, paying her a visit in her sickeningly sweet facade. Introducing herself as Takita's "long time friend" she makes waves to not necessarily befriend as much as draw information from her. And poor Makoto being naive as she is falls into the trap..

With the information she's gathered, Minami hows her true colors only to Takita, in an attempt to turn the two against each other with lies and deceit.

Yeah, it's probably a dumb idea....but I wanted to get it out of my head.

@Me bringing a tear to your eye: ..huhwhat?

@Pairing name: Makita>Takoto. Takoto sounds like taco.

@Minami: I...actually like the idea because it's so NATURAL and yet didn't occur to me at all x.x d'oh.
.....But you know, there's something that makes me wonder about timeline-wise. Makoto is eventually going to leave on her quest, right? After she meets up with a few other heroes, grows as a character enough that she can leave, etc.etc.etc. So someone like Minami, who doesn't seem like the type of character we would turn into a super villain, would have to come in before Makoto leaves and after Matt is killed.

Now, Makoto is painfully shy, scared, and withdrawn. And we're having her fight a good friend of hers. I'm thinking that we can only really believably do this once she's grown out of her shell a bit. So Repast has to be late enough into the plotline that it'll be believable, but early enough that it's before Makoto leaves and then we'll squeeze Minami in. It's kind of a tight fit IMO, not that it's impossible. Couple ways to do this:

1. Makoto doesn't have the final battle with Repast until she's traveling on her quest already--perhaps he chases her?
If we want to make this work and still fit Minami in, she'll have to have superpowers as well. I'd been a bit hesitant on that since Takita attracting TWO super-powered women is a bit of a stretch imo...but heck, almost everyone in here has superpowers so hopefully it won't seem to out of place.

My only real idea for Minami's superpower would be to play up her feathers in her breakdown animations. Have wings, maybe play on the concept and make her some sort of arch-angelfairysomething. Make the feathers super-sharp metal darts that she can control and shoot at will. I don't know, these are basic cheesy ideas, if we decide to give Minami superpowers then we can come up with the specifics/her design then.

2. Going back to what I said earlier: Minami has no superpowers, therefore we have to fit Repast in before Makoto starts on her quest to OVERTHROW THE EMPIRE ladeda.

....Is any of this making any sense? I'm afraid the fact that it's 5 am and I haven't slept may be causing a lack of clarity on my end x.x
