A lot of my music is vg music the rest is ether anime music(most are .hacks) with a few regular music(Only one came from me the rest was just given) I hardly buy any cd much unless I can't find them elsewhere. I'm thinking of buying the Dept. Heaven series osts since on one of the ost, one song for all 3 version doesn't work and I can't find a working one and It nice to have all 3 ost while I'm at it. The problem is you can get a capsule item for every 2 cds. I can't think of any for the 4th one. |

Ahh, I love video game music. My iTunes library has about 3500 songs on it, and I think about 1000 of those are from video games. I have the soundtracks for Chrono Trigger, Skies of Arcadia, all 4 Ace Attorneys, lots of Mega Man, Smash Bros, TWEWY, and the list goes on and on (some of the songs are downloaded, but others are from my CD collection.) Honestly, I prefer VG songs to most other songs out there. Also, I agree with Lunaria42, Frog's Theme from Chrono Trigger is filled with awesome. |

Well... in my ipod there are all the Ace attorney OST's, both orchestra, I haven't got GS meets soul jazz, all MGS OST's except for Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, God of War 2 OST (I don't have the one from the first game). I must have around 200 game songs or even more. Anyone likes MGS OST's? Here in Chile you can see in some TV shows or advertisements some of the songs of MGS, Specially Snake Eater ("Sidecar- Scape from the base" actually) |

Some of my favorite pieces of music are from Video Game soundtracks and some artist were 'discovered' via games. I particular like The Longest Journey soundtrack, Chrono Cross/Radical Dreamers, The Persona Games and Radiata Stories. That said,, for some reason, I ended up buying the Bumpy Trot soundtracks. I would have to agree that more and more that games soundtracks are on par if not better than movie scores, but that makes sense, they serve the same purposes. I have lost my train of thought again, I feel on par Network Rail. Oh yeah! Saying all music since (insert date here) sucks is a bit far fetched, even just randomly listening on Last.fm I've found artists I've never heard before doing good music from a large range of genres I may not even gave a second thought to before, though not all music in one set genre is all 'good'; good music is out there, it just is not always going to be the stuff the media pumps into your ears. Opinons of others only matter as far as you give them power to matter, see entry Apathy. |

Holy Hell wrote: Really great stuff. I do love Uematsu's work. You know, I think I like a lot of his recent stuff more than his old stuff. Namely his scores to the two major Mistwalker games. Lost Odyssey's score was really great, and I think just about every song in the soundtrack accurately set the mood for the entire game. It also sounded different from his past musical entries into the Final Fantasy series; I don't think you'd find some of the things he did for Lost Odyssey showing up in one of his FF soundtracks. Blue Dragon's OST was just all around great. Say what you will about the game itself, but Uematsu did not dip in quality at all when working on Blue Dragon. People may mention that boss theme as something terrible, but I've never really been much of a fan of Uematsu's songs with vocals anyway. I absolutely love the background music from the first scene of the game, it's probably one my favorite Uematsu pieces. On a Black Mages note, that last album of theirs failed to impress me oddly enough. There just wasn't much to it. It's like they blew through all of their awesome songs with the first two albums and ran out of stuff that could us a Black Mages treatment and went with random stuff like the opening music to FFVII. Though, I'd still like to hear them tackle something like You're Not Alone from FFIX or the Cosmo Canyon theme from FFVII. My favorite album of theirs is probably their second one, The Skies Above. Mostly because of the FFX theme, but also because Blue Blast is an awesome song and I really like the actual song The Skies Above as well. Their version of Otherworld is complete crap though. |

I'd personally love to hear a remix of FFIV boss theme and FFV's fight with ExDeath theme, though that's just me. I'd like to see some more of the old school Final Fantasies in their albums. |

"Katamari Damacy" is a really weird way to spell Chrono Cross. So, Katamari Damacy. Shut up you with your Yasunori Mitsuda and your celtic music. But you just described two of my favorite musics... Lol, alright, besides that... I like VG soundtrack music a lot; if I can get my hands on it, I listen to it as much as possible. Favorites: Chrono Cross (I grew up with this music, no joke) Hotel Dusk Trace Memory Random FF Arcanum (I love the soundtrack so much; the strings are relaxing) And I have the theme songs of KH1&2, and Time Hollow I got from someone the piano tracks of FFX, X-2, and VII. I listen to them when I go to sleep Piano is very soothing, and I always have enjoyed the almost "new-age" structure of VG music, sooo... |

I don't listen to many direct rips on my ipod. =/ I DO have a lot of stuff that's been rearranged especially for orchestra/piano only/jazz band(cough Turnabout Meets Jazz Soul) though. I have some Tour de Japon, Eminence Orchestra, GS, etc... Edit: Oh, I also missed the above post somehow... I like the music from Layton with the... harmonicas? Whatever they play when it's nighttime. It's so pretty and it reminds me of Animal Crossing. <3 |

It is really easy to compare video game music with real life music (if you like orchastrated music, at least ^_^) Think about things like video games live, and the "Turnabout Meets..." soundtracks. Its impossible to tell that they are from video games unless you already know. |
