Fixed for accuracy.

Saw the recording of the July 2009 Citi Field, titled "Good Evening New York City", which is excellence from Drive My Car to The End. Jesus Christ, this man's 68!? He sounded, looked and felt 25. 'Nuff said.
And I'm reading he might come to Brazil, Chile and Argentina late 2010 or early-mid 2011... hope he does, me and my dad are huge fans, and we really want to see him live! Well, he did, once, but when he was with Wings, and they played almost no Beatles songs. So, just in case, we're both saving money!

PANDA APPROVES <3 He played Puerto Rico and Mexico City on his Up and Coming Tour this year- which is the tour I saw him on- and he apparently loves the enthusiasm of Latin American crowds, so it looks likely he'll want to come back~

Everyone forgets how awesome George Harrison was in The Beatles.

If I Needed Someone is one of the best songs ever made by them. The harmonies are brilliant, and they manged out out-folk-rock the Byrds. XD It's also the only song of his that he was allowed to sing live, for some reason.

Too true. Just because he was the "quiet Beatle", he gets much less attention than the rest (well... except for Ringo, of course). The popular pecking order seems to be Lennon>McCartney>Harrison>Starr, but IMO it should be McCartney>Harrison>Lennon>Starr, very close to Paul.
He was a genius, it's that simple. Every single piece he produced for The Beatles was unique, not to mention some of the band's best songs were done by him, including If I Needed Someone, Taxman, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Within You Without You, Something, and the outstanding Here Comes The Sun. There are also a lot of under-appreciated Beatles tracks of his, like Think For Yourself, I Me Mine, Savoy Truffle and For You Blue.

I'm sure that if he had been less quiet, he could have easily overshadowed the other Beatles.

Talking about Harrison, Martin Scorsese is doing a documentary on him, "Living in the Material World", just like he did with Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. Thoughts?

Post subject:  Re: The Beatles

It's a shame- Harrison got so overshadowed by the Lennon-McCartney songwriting partnership, when he wrote some excellent songs that were definitely on par with their creations. Something is such a lovely song <3

That said, Paul always does a tribute to him in his live performances- at Hyde Park, it was Something on the ukelele (which according to him, George taught him to play) and it was beautiful~

Oh, and I'm curious, how DOES one dress as George Harrison? I mean Lennon I could envisage, but I'm intrigued as to what a Harrison costume would look like!

Well, I wanted to dress up in his Seargent Peppers outfit at first, but that would've been too hard to do. So I looked up pictures of him for a good base.

My hair is already long and kinda shaggy, so that was the easiest part. As for the clothes, seeing as how he spent some time in india for a while, I looked for a mixture of indian/hippie patterns. Found some purple, orange, gold, all that kind of funky stuff. All I had to do was top it off with a fake moustache and I was out on the town singing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

Now, if only I could get a hold of Harrison's hat. It's so damn awesome!

Also; any of you been to Liverpool? I've been twice; the first was visiting all of The Beatles' historic locations, like their homes, Penny Lane, Strawberry Field, The Cavern etc. And the Beatles Story museum at Albert Dock is definitely worth visiting. The second was to see the Tate Modern with school. Although it was a nice museum, I was veery tempted to sneak next door to The Beatles...

And speaking of Harrison's lesser known songs...am I the only one who likes Piggies? I mean, a Jazz fill and a solo on a Harpsichord? My inner pianist weeps with utmost joy!

Lastly; Savoy Truffle. Another fabulous song. But am I the only one who hears "Pineapple Heart" as "Pineapple Whore"? I mean, George does sing "Montelimar" as "Montelimore".

I agree, something is a wonderful song, and Harrison get's a lot less credit then he deserves! While My Guitar Gently Weeps, is one of the best songs on the White Album (let us not forget about "Piggies").... And Savoy Truffle...

It's absolutely awesome! :pearly: We spent a couple lessons watching the entire Beatles anthology, and in about 9-11 weeks we have to perform a Beatles song. My band is thinking of playing Drive My Car, so I somehow have to learn how to play awesome on the bass in that amount of time. (Otherwise I'll make Paul feel sad) :sadshoe:

It's been about 35 or so years since the Beatles have broke up, but Beatlemania still runs strong in this world.

But one question: Why is this in the GS4 discussion page? Shouldn't it be in the Non-Phoenix Wright discussion pages?

They broke up in 1970, it's 40 years since they broke up. Ouch. Also the 30th Anniversary of John Lennon's Death is December 8th this year.

And this is in the non-PW part... this is the music section.

MMT and Let it Be, I could do without. But no Revolver is blasphemy.

I still need to get a guitar peripheral for this game. I tried it out on various assaults to a Sony store near me, but I need to own it.

BTW, has anyone hear about the Gimme Some Truth package coming in October? It's a huge collection of John's remastered solo albums, and some remix-CDs, including awesome artwork, and everything. Anyone plan on getting it? I would try to save for it, but right now, every time I see money, I can only think of "Paul McCartney" and "November".

Off. I dunno. One After 909 would be perfect for any Rock Band game, and would complete the rooftop setup. And I'd love to see the dreamscape for Your Mother Should Know. Or Penny Lane!

Yup. She Said She Said, Doctor Robert, Eleanor Rigby, Tomorrow Never Knows...all wonderful songs that deserve to be in-game!

I own the Hofner, The Gretsch and Ringo's Drumkit. They're quite snazzy, but the Gretsch is the best of the lot.

MMT has some of the best beatles singles ever. (Penny Lane, Walrus, Strawberry Fields etc.) We need that.

Plus 'Flying' would be so trippy.

Edit: Wait, we already have walrus. Hmm, maybe they should just put Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane on as singles.

Can't agree with that.
In a few words, the awesome trippyness from the last 40 seconds of "Hello Goodbye" don't stand a chance against "Walrus"'s 4 minutes and 33 seconds.

Though Walrus is far from being the best song ever (hell, it's not even the best Beatles song ever), it's probably got the best music video ever.

I honestly don't give a crap about Lennon's birthday. And I'm saying this as a Beatles fan.

John Lennon may have been a big part of the group, but the way some loopy fans act, it's almost as if he WAS the band, and the rest were just hangers-on. That attitude annoys me.

Same here, wasn't trying to say that at all! George and Paul were just as much part of the band as John was, although without him, the band would never had been what it was and still is.
I just have a lot of respect for him, I think he deserves it.

Post subject:  Re: The Beatles

Gerk, I don't see why you "don't give a crap" about John's birthday just because of some of the fans' attitude. And I can assure you that those who claim that John Lennon was the Beatles isn't a real Beatles fan.

It's true, The Beatles weren't just John. That's extremely far from the truth. The Beatles, as a musical experience, was the amazing compositions of John, plus Paul's out-of-this-world vocal ability and compositions, George's spectacular guitar and occasional compositions, and Ringo's perfect drumming. When only observed as "ex-Beatles", every single one of them deserves the same amount of respect, as The Beatles was the four of them. The Beatles wouldn't have been so if John and Paul hadn't met, and it definitely wouldn't have been the same without Harrison's superb guitar skills and Ringo's drums.

All in all, I think John's birthday should be taken as a way to remember him and his contribution to music, both as part of The Beatles and as a solo artist. His death really was a huge loss to the world of music, and, thanks to the impact the Fab 4 had in society, to the world itself. To think he could still be composing...

And now a bit more off-topic, Paul's playing here November 10 and 11! Tickets for the first show are sold out... and I'm broke. Tickets for that second show start selling this tuesday. That is, in two days. And the first one sold out like 3 or 4 days after it started.

So I'm pretty much screwed.
