It's my favourite anime opening.
It's certainly one of my favourites too, but I don't know if I could place it above Cowboy Bebop and GitS:SAC's openings. Certainly on the same level, dont know about above yet. It is constantly playing in my head though. Then Trigun's opening comes along and reminds me of just how utterly awesome that is.
In short, definitely one of my favourites, just don't ask me to choose a definitive one.

I haven't seen enough anime myself to be in that position. Most openings I've listened to, however, haven't been to my taste, which is why this easily comes top for me.

A couple of weeks ago, I actually mentioned the opera to a friend of mine. Considering his reactions to other operas I've listened to, I expected him not to like it, but since he's also very fond of comedies, I figured it was worth a shot. He gave it a chance, and I was quite pleased to learn that he liked it. Now, if only I knew of an opera I was really fond of that might also be up his alley...

I'm currently on one of my favorite parts. Imagine: Ivan the Terrible and his forces have just torn the city of Novgorod apart, claiming the people were plotting to betray him. Now they are coming to your home city of Pskov. The lord of Pskov has called the people together to discuss what to do. The Tsar has not accused Pskov of any crimes, unlike Novgorod, so it's possible he's not here to attack the city to begin with. Some people, however, believe the Tsar will attack, and they must fight back. If the Tsar's visit is peaceful, the resistance risks changing that and dooming the city. If the Tsar is planning to attack, then the city's fate is sealed if no resistance is put up.

They're playing at the SECC on June 12th and Dad got some tickets for the show (sadly through one of those clouts who buys them up early and sells them for an inflated price to fans).
He says "You've got to see them live before they're all dead".
No complaints here, was basically raised on the Who and I do love Quadrophenia.
