Actually I regard Shadow Hearts 3 to have the greatest OST a game ever had (Although 2 is the better game). And I also regard the series to have the most fun battle system a JRPG ever had. I guess this is something we heavilly disagree on.

For unbearably bland music is much more up Final Fantasy's alley :P

Oh it's on :P

Though I was specifically talking about Shadow Hearts 1.

I've not played neither of the sequels...cause I can't bring myself to work through the first one.

Is it bad that I can't really praise the Ace Attorney series for its soundtrack? :snackood:

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the music is bad, I like some of the sad themes, but I don't think the Ace Attorney series has the best soundtrack ever.

The videogame I praise for soundtrack alone is Chrono Cross.

Professor Layton music is good at first, but after awhile it starts to get really annoying. It's the same in every game as well. The same instruments are used and honestly, I can hardly tell one track apart from the other. It isn't all bad though. There are some pieces I like, such as the music that plays in the title screen for Pandora's Box.

AA music is very good at getting the emotions and feelings right, but like Emiko says - it isn't the best. There are far better soundtracks out there.

I can barely even remember that Layton had any music playing.
AA music has its good parts... the first Objection Theme was great, some of the theme songs are nice. But majority of the "location" tracks you get sick of pretty fast cause you just hear them way too often.

Despite my love for videogames and their music, my music folder is not filled with that many videogame tracks. I have a few FF ones - Aerith's Theme, Dancing Mad, One Winged Angel, Suteki da ne... also some Zelda ones, mostly it's just Japanese singers.

I love the Zelda music. Sure, there are some where I want to stab my ears (Twilight Princess' Encounter music while in the Twilight Realm annoys me so much) but in general it sounds really nice and either calming or chilling, depending on the location.

FF music has its good ones, too. Pretty much every single track I unlocked in Theatrhythm up to now is one I either like or don't mind listening to. Except some of the XI or XII one, those are just plain boring. Only part I wondered about music choice was in XIII-2.... heavy metal for boss fights?

This track from 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors is by far my favourite.

Overall the music in the game is very unique. I didn't like it at first, but after getting used to it, I found that it really fits well with what was going on. The music wasn't annoying and it adding suspense and excitement to the game. Especially when something shocking happened.

I might just say, the entire soundtrack of Xenoblade Chronicles, one of the greatest I've ever heard in a game. Have some examples:

The main theme, of course. Your first hint at just how epic, in the literal meaning of the word, this game is.

You Will Know Our Names, for your musical power-up.

Satorl Marsh, Night since the night-time music is some of the nicest in the game, and quite a nice touch, having different music for day and night.

Unfinished Battle

And that's just a few, I'll let you discover the rest on your own.

The game's one of my all-time favourites. The rest of the game on its own does stand up well, but the music is what makes it.

That's true. I bought the game awhile back, but never finished it. It's like a hundred hours long, and I'm about four in. :P

I'm also playing The Last Story, which I think is an excellent game as well. I really like the characters and story. It's probably the Wii's last great game, and I don't think the console could have ended on a higher note. Pandora's Tower was recently released here, and I'm probably going to pick that one up eventually. It didn't get as good reviews as the other two games, but it still looks interesting nonetheless. :godot:

The vocal tracks are pretty good, but I didn't really like the regular instrumental tracks. I thought is was kinda bland and generic. The best soundtrack in the series in my opinion is MGS3 by Harry Gregson-Williams.

Mmmhmm it's excellent.

Though I don't really grade Rising's OST on the same standards as MGS because of the drastic difference in gameplay.
I felt the soundtrack was suitably epic and extreme to match the tone of the game. Not really had a chance to listen to it all but hell, if I can get a couple of great tracks ( "It has to be this way" especially) I'll be a happy man.

Monsoons' theme too Stains of Time was pretty awesome.
Satisfied a need I'd had for some heavy rock for a while.

Of sorts, yes.

I think I already told you before in the Star Fox thread.

I owned, played, and beat the SNES Star Fox, Star Fox 64, and Star Fox Adventures. I almost completed Star Fox Assault, but I had to return it before I was able to because it was a rental.

Star Fox Command is the only Star Fox game I've never played.

Well here's the whole post:

Gnobo wrote:
Man, I remember playing the heck out of the N64 game as a kid. From what I remember, I used to suck at it. It even took me a while to figure out how to save Falco on Corneria and find the secret passage to Sector X (or was it Y?) Also, even before I knew "Do a barrel roll!" was a meme that quote was stuck in my head.

To this day, I've never beaten the hard path yet. I lost more than half my lives on the Star Wolf battle on Venom. I got to the true fight with Andross, but I never beat it, and his head didn't 'asplode into that wierd brain thing with the eyes. However, I did beat the 3DS version which I thought was INCREDIBLY easier than the original version for some reason.

I also have the SNES Star Fox which I purchased off of eBay a few years ago out of curiosity, and I thought it was pretty good for a game of its time. The graphics, while still blocky, were cool to look at (especially in Space Armada!), the controls were much like the N64 game's controls albeit a little looser, and the music is awesome!

It's been AGES since I first played and beat Adventures. I remember me and my dad used to take turns going through the story, and we'd have the guide book at the ready whenever we didn't know what to do. I'm not sure if I want to replay it or not. Any opinions?

And no, I don't really hate Slippy. Sure he gets in a lot of trouble and his voice sometimes is a little annoying, but he still has SOME combat capabilities, and he gives the enemy shields during battle which is helpful for me. And me being a nice guy, I've always got his back during the heat of battle!

You even recommend I replay Star Fox Adventures

This guy doesn't get as much credit that he should get!

Basically, what he does is take different characters from media like comic books, anime, video games, etc, and makes Marvel vs. Capcom-styled themes for each one.

I especially like his Batman theme!

Technically it's not music from any video game, but it's music that would definitely fit in a video game!
