If you're getting really specific, though, into some musical "movements", things like third-wave ska and swing revival are fucking terrible. That has more to do with the fact that every band involved with them were awful than my not liking a genre.

This for me mostly. I mostly don't pay much attention to what a song's genre is, mostly whether I like it or not. Usually, I can find at least a few songs from any genre I will either like or hate but it mainly has to do with how the artist handles the song over an automatic "ZOMG! RAP SUX!" (though generally speaking, I dislike a lot of popular rap).

This is a very concise version of what I was getting at. Like, the swing revival movement (it happened in the mid-90s, didn't last long) was just Brian Setzer and the Cherry Poppin' Daddies (and a few other nobodies), both of whom I find to be utterly detestable. Because that "genre" has such a very small number of people, it's easy to say I don't like it, since I don't like the sound those few bands were working towards.
But I still very much love jazz. I even like swing. I just hate swing revival.

Honestly when you have to define yourself by your religion in order to explain why your lyrics suck you may want to stop it right there.
Gospel, however, is fine, as it doesn't call itself "Christian Gospel" because that would be redundant and particularly stupid. Plus, hearing the Jubilation Choir is enough to convert an on-the-fence person about that musical styling into a full-fledged fan. It's their superpower, and I hate them for it.

I live in Arkansas. Probably the 2nd most Southern-stereotype state (behind Texas).
And I agree. Luckily I don't hate Country. I actually like a good deal of it. But I don't get into hate fights with people about it, because I can understand why they they might not like it.

I actually don't know why I don't care for Country, I mean I do live in Michigan, but I hate to qualify for sterotypes.
As for the whole 'religious genre' thing, I find that interesting and annoying at the same time. Interesting because most people around me don't listen to the stuff to 'praise the Lord', they just like the beat of the music. It's not like they dance...uh, clean...to it anyway. And annoying because of that same reason. You would think you would get down to Christian Rock to express yourself or whatever, but all I've seen is people looking for a good beat. I guess my opinion is based on my own experiences though.
