Regardless, Lucius now has the Javelin. Blak, the Javelin does more damage than the Bronze Lance and is also capable of getting a critical hit, but it's also heavier (heavy enough to slow Lucius down when it's equipped), less accurate, and less durable. I've put the detailed data in the spoiler box below so you can compare the two weapons.

It's now the enemy's turn. Jade wandered just within the enemy's sight range, and as it just so happens, someone has a long-range spell. Though no one in the party can see the spellcaster, a Meteor spell misses Jade. Jade gets 1 EXP and her transform gauge drops to 25. Then a Wyvern Rider flies at Jade from out of the darkness and attacks, doing 1 point of damage. Jade's counterattack does 28 points of damage, killing the Wyvern Rider instantly. She gets 30 EXP and her transform gauge drops to 24. Then one of the Soldiers attacks Jade and misses. Jade's counterattack hits, doing 27 points of damage and killing the Soldier instantly. Jade gets 31 EXP and her transform gauge drops to 23. The other Soldier follows suit, attacking and missing. Jade's counterattack hits, doing 28 points of damage and killing the Soldier. Jade gets 31 EXP and her transform gauge drops to 22. She also gets the Hand Axe the Soldier was carrying. Finally, the Swordfighter Crelarus spotted attacks and hits, doing no damage. Jade's counterattack misses. The Swordfighter attacks again and hits, once again doing no damage. Jade gets 1 EXP and her transform gauge drops to 21.
Blak, it's now your turn. Lucius has 20/20 HP.

Seriously Jade probably wiped out a bunch of the enemies left on the map. Can we all respec as dragons?
Though...I don't think we should move much further so long as there's a dude with Meteor. From what I recall long range magic is bloody deadly.

At present, I have the enemies operate according to the "attack the weakest visible enemy within range" principle--which means they have the self-preservation instincts of Sims when dealing with the likes of a transformed Dragon Laguz. I'm debating in my head whether or not to throw in a "don't attack anyone who you can't damage and/or who you know will kill you" corollary.
Meteor has a range of 3-10 spaces. I'll go ahead and say that all the enemies are further up the trail from Jade's position. Also, in the games, even if an unseen enemy attacks, you still at least get to see the damage they're capable of doing, even if they miss. Below is a spoiler box with the combat data from when that spellcaster attacked Jade.
Anyway, it's now DoMaya's turn. It's worth pointing out that the spellcaster will only attack people that the enemy can see. Ergo, if that Swordfighter were to die, anyone near her would no longer be visible to the enemy. However, if she survived, anyone near her would be visible to the enemy during their turn.
Oh, and you can all rest assured that I'm not going to pull something as подлый as a long-range spellcaster during a night mission in the actual RP anytime soon.

Jade's attack hits, doing 18 points of damage and killing the Priest instantly. Jade gets the Priest's Torch staff, as well as 30 EXP. She levels up, gaining a boost to HP, Def, and Res. Her transform gauge drops to 18. Since Ardan was just dropped off, Pierre skips his turn, making it the enemy's turn.
The spellcaster from before launches a Meteor at Crelarus, hitting and doing 12 points of damage, leaving him with 2/19 HP. Crelarus gets 1 EXP for helping the party figure out just how much damage that Meteor spell can do. Then the Swordfighter next to Crelarus attacks and misses. Crelarus's counterattack also misses. Crelarus gets 1 EXP for giving me an amusing mental image.
Blak, it's now your turn. Lucius has 20/20 HP and has his Javelin equipped.
