I find it difficult to believe the Phantom would be so benevolent. Plus his plan to frame Bobby Fulbright as the Phantom would go up in smoke the second he was jailed. Folks would question why he kept on the Fulbright mask and then when there's no mask he's free...unless that's all part of super positive nice Phantom's plan.

Spoiler: 5-5
You cannot prove that he was wearing a mask. While the simularities to the real one may be uncany (or maybe not, we don't actually know) there's no way they can prove that he HAD to use a mask. For all they know he's Fullbrights long lost twin brother.

Fine though it's pretty straw graspy to say "Oh he looked exactly like Fulbright under the mask. Then there's DNA comparisons they could do. Also it doesn't really make sense to use a mask that looks like your own face...

And can you prove he didn't look exactly like Fulbright? It goes back to the old "Can you prove the clock was running late on the day of the murder?" Absolutely ridiculous and obviously grasping at straws but it's still valid.

And why exactly would they need the DNA? I'm not very versed in this but I don't think every person who gets sent to prision get's their DNA analysed. Still, we could go into conjecture territory and say that BECAUSE he looked exactly like Fulbright they analysed him and compared them. But if we go to conjecture territory we could come up with a bunch more stuff, like, perhaps the corpse was unidentifiable (face completly destroyed and things of the sort), and that's why it remained so for over a year in the main game. If this was true, they'd have no reason to compare the ADN. Very fishy stuff this conjecture.

Use a mask that looks like yourself... What? Where does this mask come from? Have I missed something? Why does the Phantom have to use a mask? Can't an international spy go arround not wearing a mask? After all noone is suposed to know he's a spy.

Is there a chance that Fulbright is indeed the Phantom? I mean, he could have fabricated the body (Not sure about the prints though.)
Oh, and if the Phantom is really a person, then what would his name be?

My bet will go to Tom Phanny

We're talking about how likely a fake-story about the Phantom and Bobby is and you suggested he was a long lost twin brother...we're already far into the realm of conjecture. Though yes they'd probably check his DNA to have him on file as his criminal record. They'd also have a record of the original Phantoms' DNA since he'd have required Medical attention after being shot so they probably have a blood sample somewhere.

I was talking about that little comic, where the Phantom is benevolent and arranged a fake dead body, so that if he did get taken into court he could use the real Bobby to take the fall and go to jail while the Phantom disappeared again.

Spoiler: 5-5
'for all they know' As I said, it doesn't have to be the case, all they need is to be unable to prove it isn't.
So let's see... If they did as you suggest and got Fulbright's DNA, they could compare it to all the DNA they have on their, uh, thingymagigy and find a match for Fulbright. Then what? The Phantom is a person, what they can't do is prove that Fulbright isn't that person. And if he was arrested, chances are, there was a trial where they proved Fulbright was the Phantom (even though, if I get this correctly, it was only the Phantom posing as Fulbright, so that the real Fulbright would get arrested, not him).
Even if they had the Phantom's DNA from the operation, it'd be all but useless, after all, they don't know it's the Phantom's. All they have is someone who did an operation. They'd have no reason to compare it to anything anyhow. And this is, if he even did the operation on said country, he's a spy after all, being careful is his job.

Now, what I don't get is why the dead body exists, if all that I said up until now is true, then the body doesn't need to exist, I believe.

I'm not sure what's so difficult to understand, perhaps I'm not being clear. :ron: Whoever operated on the Phantom (and presumably everyone in the Courtroom would know what the Phantom's real face would look like. Then when they took Fulbright's DNA in prison processing they'd find it didn't match their records for the Phantom and therefore he had eluded capture. Also we are assuming the real Fulbright himself isn't doing any objecting to being falsely imprisoned and isn't saying "Check my DNA! My Fingerprints! I'm not the Phantom!". This is also assuming they allow the Phantom to take a mask into prison and don't confiscate his personal property like that, at which point they'd know what his real face is.

Then again in this reality where the Phantom is actually really nice, aside from a few assassinations, perhaps he'd planned for it to be so easy for Fulbright to be cleared from jail, so long as he escapes after all.

My, my, I think the problem is that we are playing with different facts each. I'll list all of my assumptions and my side of the story:
-Fulbright is captured by the Phantom, who then poses as him.
-They (as in, the police and courtroom people and stuff) figure out he's the Phantom.
-Note I make no mention of a mask, noone knows the Phantom is wearing a mask, and they think it's just his real face.
-They arrest Fulbright for being the Phantom.
-The Phantom goes away scott free.

Noone knows what the Phantom looks like, this is the point of my theory. Having seen what you say, I believe I missinterperted what you meant by the operation. I thought you were talking about the operation he did on his hand for being stabbed by Athena (I did think it weird it'd need an operation) but now I see you are refering to (I think) the fact that he was shot at during the trial. That's why you keep talking about the real face, because in said trial everyone found out he was wearing a mask. In my version of the story, the real Fulbright is the one who goes to trial, and the one who's arrested.
With this in mind, they'd still not know what the Phantom's DNA is and Fulbright would be in prison for being the Phantom, the dead body is unidentified but is then thought to be the real Fulbright while the actual Fulbright is thought to be someone impersonationg as him.

Are we clear now? Did I leave something unclear? I'm really sorry for being unclear and too dense to see what you were talking about

I see you are saying in the alternate timeline the Phantom changed places with Fulbright in the last case. Well that creates a whole new range of problems. Assuming the Benevolent Phantom's objective is to get Blackquill off the hook, he'd stick around until Athena was incriminated but that'd be it. Then when they prove Athena's innocence and Fulbright is swapped in for the real Phantom, he wouldn't have the information to really get convicted. The Phantom would have already escaped, Fulbright would just be as clueless as ever as any kind of interrogation would prove.

Right, I have been basing all that I have said thus far on the little comic thing, since that is what I thought you were talking about.
Yes, if we assume that then yes, but I personally believe that that's just what he told the real Fulbright to shut him up. I think all he needed was to destroy the moon capsule once it came back and be on his way. He couldn't care less about everything else since he's a Phantom, and he's gone again.

Now... Since I completly missed the point of what you were talking about all this time, would you mind explaining it to me? :eh?:

I love all the art =D
Even the sexy stuff because it's coupled with Bobby's innocent intentions.
With the right motivation I wonder if we have enough law officers to actually put together a sexy calender for AA.

I also love how baffled Gumshoe looks at Bobby's actions. God we need a fanfiction case with those two.

Lets see...

"Oh hEy pal, you're that detective fell-"
"IN JUSTICE WE TRUST"
"Ouch pal, it's not nice to yell"
End quote.

I think a few times when Nick objects at him he proclaims that it isn't nice to yell at people.

Spoiler:
I wish Gumshoe had a "Hold it right there pal!" Bubble for every scenario he suddenly appears

Spoiler: Case 5-5
The sad thing was, I actually spoiled myself. I knew before going into the game he'd be the big bad... and yet I still got suckered in by his lovable act...
