I knew that I was going to love Fulbright even before I bought the game, but I grew to love him even more over the course of the 5 cases. I could NOT stop laughing when he popped his head out of the window in 5-3 to talk to the gang. How adorable was that!?

Spoiler:
I just take comfort in the fact that a real Fulbright existed, and hopefully was just as cute and happy as the Phantom portrayed him.

Spoiler: 5-5, really goofy ideas
We can also take comfort in the idea that Bobby is busy promoting JUSTICE in the afterlife of the AA universe. I imagine he'd probably join Mia in watching over Wright & Co., and was probably cheering them on all the way when they started taking down the Phantom.

Spoiler:
I think you can rest assured that the real Fulbright was indeed like that, seeing as the Phantom took his identity and no one was the wiser.

Until Case 5 of DD, of course.

It is really sad that they didn't discover that the real Fulbright was dead until like a year after he was killed, though...

Now, even if you apologize...I will not forgive you.

I don't see people being able to avoid these spoilers very easily...especially when most of them read '5-5' or 'full game spoilers'. Ah well, guess it can't be helped.

Spoiler: 5-5
I was just thinking about signs pre-reveal that Fulbright would end up being a baddie, but the only one that comes to mind is the very beginning, when he introduces himself while saying, "And my catchphrase? In justice we trust!" I mean, that line was kinda forced, and could have been a sign that 'Fulbright' was acting 'mechanically' as opposed to being, well, his true self. Just a thought...

Yeah but we can't very well put a "Stay Out" sign on the front of the thing more than the spoiler warning that's already there.

Spoiler: 5-5
Some folks were saying that his animation where he shifts the glasses up his nose made him look a bit shifty but I didn't think it was especially bad. However here's what TV tropes says about foreshadowing for his character:

Whenever he strikes his RIGHTEOUS MIGHTY JUSTICE pose and clenches his fist, that mark is meant to be the scar from when he was stabbed (though it's never really confirmed whether he scarred or not).

In Case 2, Bobby gets offended and goes on a "You callin' me a bad guy!?" speech and Jinxie calls him a ghost (hur hur hur).

And for my favourite one:
"My investigations are as thorough as they are foolproof, or my name isn't Fulbright!"

Edit: Scanning Tumblr for art is scary, there's....unsightly things there.

Not sure about the scarring one but Jinxie's comment is a bit more substantial - especially since everyone else was called a 'demon'. Cool.

Yeah, Tumblr's got alot of cool DD art already. I'm impressed!

Cool pic Pierre, I saw that on tumblr too, I love the way it's coloured. Tumblr is the best place for fanart IMO but there's so much porn... (yay!)

I saw a drawing of Bobby and Polly doing the business and Bobby is saying "that's the sounds of justice!" XD

I didn't think the glasses animation was particularly shifty, I thought of it more as a thinking pose like Polly when he prods his forehead. But I wondered about that mark on his hand (after I knew he was the phantom though)! I thought it might have just been glove creases or something but I'm glad other people thought about that too.

When Polly perceives him in court, I thought that the tell would be something to do with his scar, like Kristoph's demon hand.

Spoiler:
I didn't think it meant anything either, it's common in anime though for there to be intense little marks where the tension is and being an extremely animesque character (even for AA) I'd assumed it was just par for the course. Though it would have been disappointing if they'd brought the finale down to the same thing as in Apollo Justice with hand scars.

Spoiler:
Yeah same here, I was glad his tell was just a little thumb rub and when Polly mentioned he was rubbing his holster because he subconsciously knew the lighter was a gun I was like "oh of course, duh!", I was a bit slow.

By the way the lighter gun was an amazing little gadget. When you click the button and it transforms aaaaaaa

While I remember, this is something that puzzled me about 5-5

When on the stand, his watch does the thing and he's about to escape (with a hilarious animation), why does he come back? He could have legged it there and then..

Yeah god the lighter gun was so cool I thought, he had some awesome gadgets. Also I'm not sure why he came back...unlike before when someone 'took off' the roof was totally out of commission this time. Only answer I can think of is that he still thought he had a way out and just used the thing to buy some time to straighten things out without someone shouting at him.

Haaa, just remembered a moment from when I first saw the guy --I was playing in a rather dim room, so when he popped onto the screen in his white-suited glory, I went "Damn, that's BRIGHT". And then he revealed his name to be Fulbright. I almost facepalmed.

Truly, one has to ask--/how much bleach does he go through a year/? That, and if he's a boxers or briefs kinda guy--

It can definitely be a strange place if you don't have filters/forget to tell tumblr not to show you explicit content. I love the art though - but next time can you provide a link so I can see the artist's blog? It would be appreciated :redd:

I thought his lighter gun was cool too, but wouldn't a .10 caliber bullet do.... about nothing? BBs are .17 caliber to help you make the comparison.

I read that a .10 cal gun has been made in the past, but it was more of a gimmick and was really only useful for small game. So while the Phantom's gun could have burst Clay's tank, it would be almost impossible to kill someone quickly with it. Maybe slowly if you hit an artery.

Sure I'll remember in future

Spoiler: In reply to Addikt
Well remember this gun also has to fly as a lighter. I doubt for undercover work he really had much option for larger calibre in the lightgun. Besides I think you are forgetting, he's a super spy! He probably is a bit of a crackshot under normal circumstances. Even then if he can incapacitate a foe he can easily finish them off with the knife or his little piano wire in his watch. So take in account the murder of Terran Clay. He shot the tank so it would rupture. The force of the pressurised air exploding leaves Terran dazed on the floor and swoosh, in with the knife.

True! I want to see all of the Phantom's super spy gadgets. He has the grappling hook, multi-use watch, lighter gun, and computer glasses. What other rediculous things are in his possession? I hope he has a shoe phone!

And in other news, my sister just found out about Fulbright, and she's not taking it too well. I can't comfort her with the fact that he used to be a real person yet, but I definitely had to nudge her to play on. When she called me she sounded almost hysterical! Though her breakdown is hilarious. Right when she starts realizing:

And now she's happy he turned hot when he got serious.... goodness! I can't wait to call her soon after Edgeworth explains everything.

Spoiler:
Hahahaha omg your poor sister! When I found out about Fulbright, it was because I accidentally spoiled myself when on tumblr and found the sexiest fanart, but I was devastated. I didn't take it well either.

Spoiler:
Well she spoiled herself slightly with this post, but wasn't sure what it meant until later. If you can't play the audio, it's from this video.

I think if they'd chose some of those earlier designs on Fulbright, it wouldn't have been as big of a shock in the end. Lookit how 'cool' they look. You could believe that guy is a super Spy from the get go. Fulbright has to put on his 'serious face' before you think anything is wrong.

How about some non-spoiler art?

Spoiler: GK and Case 5
Since AII series takes place before the events of the Apollo Justice Saga, wouldn't it be possible to have the REAL Fulbright in GK3? I think it'd be pretty cool, honestly. Honestly I'm still pretty peeved that they left so much out about the Phantom. And how couldn't they identify the body? Surely a dead detective would be a case of importance? And why did he try to start the Hat - 1 bombing anyway? And why did Blackquill care so much about The Phantom, even before the incident? :ron:

Ahhh Fulbright....
I thought he was kinda annoying at first, but when he first made that puppydog face, I started to warm up to him. That Gumshoe-esque helplessness makes me melt xD

But honestly

Spoiler:
My heart broke when I found out it wasn't him and that the real Bobby had been dead for a year :beef:
That serious face though could really rival his puppydog one

Well, now, it appears Detective Fulbright's catchphrase is quite popular. I count four users (myself included) who have made his catchphrase their member title. I wonder who the fifth will be...

IN JUSTICE THE COURT-RECORDS TRUST!

That aside... Who wants to prosecute Bobby's case?
Spoiler:
Or... We could learn more about the organization that the Phantom tried to expose, etc etc.

"Oh holy father, holy Brother, holy master... My sacred mission is at last complete. With these two hands, mankind is saved. I am your will made flesh. In your name, I give thanks."

I don't know why, but I always found the phrase a little funny because if you just say it out loud and no one knows what you're talking about it can also sound like "Injustice, we trust!"
Spoiler:
Which makes sense when you find out who Bobby is...well sort of find out I suppose...

It really kills me that they threw one of the best, most fun new characters (arguably one of the only good new characters besides Athena, but that's for another thread) under the bus. A year before the game actually took place, even. Basically his only chance at ever showing up again is in an Investigations game, so at least he'll feel at home being involved in the same kind of convoluted clusterfuck of a storyline the AAI team always dreams up.

I hope Takumi-san takes the helm again soon...
