In that case, the list is this:
Apollo Justice. See the reason above. Plus, thanks to Phoenix stealing the spotlight in Apollo's own game, we never got to see some sort of character development (alright, DD had some, but the main focus of the game was on Athena anyway). The Apollo-Trucy-Thalassa relationship has to come up, that's for sure. Also, I'd love to see him as a prosecutor. We'd then play as Phoenix and try to get him back. The first game excelled in this matter, introducing Phoenix whilst still keeping focus on Miles. Or just have Apollo as the protagonist again.
Maya Fey. Alright, Maya has to come back, even as a cameo. Someone who had such a huge impact on Phoenix's life and career can't just stay in the shadows forever.
Kristoph Gavin. A character even more enigmatic than Enigmar himself: 5 black Psyche-Locks along with the scar on his right hand. And now that we know how to break black PLs, we could revisit him and resolve the plot holes. Also, it'd be great to have him as a defendant.
Thalassa Gramarye. Again, Apollo-Trucy-Thalassa. That and she'd make a great victim. Cruel indeed.
As for my "guilty pleasures", I'd like to see the following:
Lana Skye. As mentioned in the thread, she'd make a great rival prosecutor or a detective. The Skye sisters deserve more love.
Sister Iris. I have a soft spot for her, and I'd love to see her character development, especially after sitting in the clink for a long period of time. Plus, she's Pearl's half-sister, so there.

I agree with you there, the story for AA6 needs to tie together the loose ends from the end of AA4.

And, well, yes then - definitely more Apollo-centric. And I agree with you about Kristoph. I love that he's an enigma, if we never get to see him again, and yet it would be extremely interesting to see what lurks inside and behind.

Probably because it'd make for some more drama. And a nod to 3-5, for that matter. But that's just my personal opinion.
Especially since he refuses to work on the main storyline, considering Phoenix's story being done.
Let's just hope Yamazaki doesn't screw up.

Maya Fey: Ace Spirit Medium would do well as a spinoff title, though, as you figure out what's the best approach to satisfy your constant influx of channeling clients. It'd be quite like that one idea about Edgeworth's game acting as Chief Prosecutor, now that I think about it.
...And the more I think about it, the more I figure a lot of these characters who run some sort of management/business can fall into this category. Imagine playing as Eldoon and serving noodles every day.

I'd also like to see Maya again, although she shouldn't have a really important role in the overall plot of the game. Maybe she could be involved in a filler case and come back as an assistant just for this case.

That doesn't mean she should disappear entirely, just a slight cameo here and there to remind us that she's still a lawyer and an employee of WAA. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, since I really want GS6 to resolve AJ's loose ends.

I felt that way about Athena though at first too. Now I've just kinda accepted her as a main character.

Mainly because she is in my opinion the best assistant of the series and if you couldnt tell by my username I would be interested to see a romantic relationship with her and Nick. I think it would be a shame not to bring her back as a lot of the original trilogy was focused on her so its basically like we wasted the first 3 games if she doesnt appear again. And we need to bring Gumshoe back!!

Also, I'm one of those guys who don't want Trilogy characters to return. They just feel forced and reek of fanservice like Pearl and Edgeworth in DD.
You know, at least Ema was different and developed AJ, and so was Phoenix. Meanwhile, in DD, returning characters are just their same selves but without any noticeable development (Pearl, Edgeworth), regressed back to their old selves (Phoenix), or got extremely gimmicky and bland (Trucy, Apollo)
