Like Jesus Christ... Talk about going from an awful horrible mess to a very decent one.
The cases so far (I'm on Case 3) have been... LOGICAL. The characters have been ACTUALLY GOOD.
Case 1 wasn't that great, but it kicked the crap out of 4/5 of DGS1's cases.
I'm shocked. SHOCKED. I'm glad, but shocked.

Yay! They converted you, Blizdi!

I'm glad to hear that you like it. Probably means that I'll like it too.

Though what do you mean by 'the Yamazaki Special'?

Having a shit first game and an amazing followup

AAI -> AAI2

DD -> SoJ

Also I still hate DGS, that will never change lol

I dont get how one could call SoJ an amazing followup and hate DGS at the same time.
Well mainly the first part, here I was about to agree thinking you meant AAI2.

Street Fighter 1 was decent then they got Eshiro for Street Fighter 2 and it became the most well-known fighting game of all time. Take that as you will.

I mean, SoJ>DD in pretty much every way.

Though I personally think that this game will succeed it.

It's very simple:

DGS is a bad game. SoJ isn't.

So that even if the game sells worse people can at least appreciate it.

Because then it's better than its predecessor?

I mean, for all the crap you'd give to DGS, you gotta admit it at least improved significantly from Layton vs Wright.

Also, judging by the mechanics and art style, it certianly follows LvsW more than anything else, so that productively make DGS the second game and DGS2 the third of the "Ancient British Multi-witness" trilogy saga.

Which means it starts like crap, then becomes slightly better, then... ok, I need to experience DGS2 myself first before I judge that one.

LvW is garbage. I don't even consider it on the scale of AA game "goodness"

So yes, technically DGS is an improvement from LvW

:( I actually like LvW more than DGS. Well, the AA parts more anyway

Yes even the final trial

Okay I'm just glad you've at least retained some sense after the last comparison :damon: .

I'm sorry, but DD is a shit game?

OBJECTION!!!

I might be willing to argue whether or not SoJ is a shit game (I personally don't think so), but DD was great.

Eh, it differs for people. I honestly didn't like DD a lot and felt a good deal of the cases were bland, mediocre and forgettable.

I'm not finished with it myself yet but it's been really good so far. I honestly think part of the reason is when you set something up for the first time it can be a little difficult to make something that's actually good. I made my own likely-to-never-be-published series that started off with far from amazing but the quality improved and writing got easier over time. I truly believe that's easier to make something good when you have something to work off of because when you start something new it can be a little difficult to have a clear idea of what you want to do and what directions you want to go. The cases in DGS1 were far from perfect (case 3 is the WORST case in the entire series imo) and I almost considered dropping it in the middle. In DGS2 the cases are actually good and I'm loving a lot of the reveals.

....... The Phoenix Wright omnibus murder, you mean? How was that the worst case? It was 80% trial shenanigans and 20% trial suspense. It even had a witness admitting that he farted inside the omnibus once. GOLD!

For starters, I'm not really a fan of Ryuunosuke since to me he just feels like a watered down noob Apollo. He felt oblivious to what was going on in DGS1 and didn't seem to have a good idea of what he was doing. You take that and throw it into a case where he has very little information and you get a steaming pile of dog crap.

...the whole thing with having little information and stuff being confusing was kind of like the point though.

It doesn't matter if it's the point or not, things people don't like in a game can affect their enjoyment of it no matter how big or small these things are.

If you dislike being thrown into a confusing setting where you have to uncover information as you play, because the main character has no idea what's going on, maybe Ace Attorney isn't a game series for you. Because uh... I hate to break it to you, but that's like 80% of the series, even with Phoenix as the main character.

Someone's already used that argument against me and I'll say the same I said to them: Phoenix WASN'T AS BAD.

My thoughts on DGS1-3 and Ryuunosuke aside, I'd like to give my thoughts on DGS2. This game actually turned out to be one of the better ones, and at risk of someone throwing rocks at me, rivals Trials & Tribulations. I liked all the cases and everything honestly connects really well, both with DGS2's own cases and the cases in DGS1, much better than how T&T connected to the previous two main series games and while AAI2 has all of its cases connected pretty well, it doesn't really have much to do with the first AAI. Anyways, at this point I'm definitely sad that these games are really unlikely to get localized.

I wanted to get back on topic, but I thought I made it clear when I said "watered-down noob Apollo (in other words, AA4 Apollo but worse)". Both Phoenix and Apollo knew what they were getting into as they both willingly went into lawyering. Ryuunosuke was thrown into it see he had even less of an idea of what was going on.

All I know is with Ryuunosuke, it bothered me and I may not be 100% sure of the reason why.
