I'd say the same for Apollo but he seems to have more character development compared to Klavier.
And I don't like how Phoenix can be a whiny b!tch sometimes.

By the time Investigations came out, he was flanderized from somewhat incompetent to fully incompetent. She could have just told Apollo about the perceive thing without making Mr. Hat look like a knife nut.

I was mostly referring to how they looked, compared to the ones that were made for the later games. There is no good depth in the colors when you compare it to, for example, GS3 sprites where the clothes had about 3 or 4 shades of their color darken for shadows. With the GS1, it was the base color and then one or maybe two shades darker to indicate shadows. (Oh my God, I'm starting to sound like Mark Crilley)
It just shows that, yes, the graphics became better with the games, but it also makes the quality suffer if they don't update it.

And Gumshoe... His competence starts out as pretty average in the first game. Sure, he gets the killer wrong (Except in 1-4 when he knows it's not Edgeworth), but that's due to ridiculous set ups and planning on the killer's part. Then after each game he slowly gets dumber and dumber, mostly for the sake of convenience. I mean seriously game. Gumshoe had to be at least somewhat competent to get the position of detective. I know that they wanted to make all the lawyers look smart, but seriously.

I like Gumshoe and Maggey's relationship and all but looking back Maggey sort of seems like a plot device to flesh out Detective Gumshoe.

To be quite honest, I felt that was pretty cool of him. Granted, legally he was treading on incredibly thin ice since he isn't allowed to disclose medical information on a witness. But at that point, Adrian was a potential suspect, so I guess any medical information that could be relevant to her mental state or potential motive.

Matt - Ex-lover of Celeste and rivals with Juan aside, I would have liked it if they explored his character more.
Iris and Dahlia - Even without the other, I wished these two could stand independently. DD: One was a saint and the other had no redeemable qualities at all.

He may be a little hot headed, and he's not the smartest guy around, but he does his job and he does it fairly well given how ambitious he is. How many times has he saved the day again? And how many times has he actually been acknowledged for it by the other characters? And on that note, I'm not off-topic because that's something I don't like about a lot of characters. The same goes for Larry - even though he often screws things up and appears on places where he shouldn't be, he has saved the day a lot of times as well, sometimes because of his stupidity. Happens to every character, they are making them flatter.
Remember when Phoenix was just a bit of a bumbling fool, but had justice in mind? Well he's turned into a gullible idiot JFA onwards. Maya could be serious at times, but that disappeared until pretty much 3-5. Gumshoe was a bit incompetent and had his salary cut - one or two games later, he's made into an incompetent moron who can barely afford Insta-Ramen.

My point was that they're just seen as worthless idiots who don't do any good. The term worthless has been used about them both on several occasions by Phoenix and Edgeworth, and that is definitely not true.
